My dad had a brand new '73 Maverick same color - but bucket seats and a vinyl top. As a kid sitting in the back those pop out windows merely teased you with the thought of fresh air.
We had a Ford Maverick Grabber when I was younger. It was a sky blue with gold on the bottom. I learned to drive in that car, I loved it. What stood out to me was it had 2 round reflectors on the back by the taillights that had smiley faces on them. Lol Definitely different. 🤗
This is exactly how I would have built it myself. Always wanted a late model 5.0 efi engine in a Maverick! Then later on I would install a 347 stroker kit!
The Maverick was a horribly underrated car by Ford and scoffed at as an afterthought owned by folks on a budget. A neighbor of ours owned a 1970-1973 model with a 3 on the tree shifter. I always wondered why he drove with it in park when coming home and left it in drive when it was parked at home. 😂
There was also a GT Comet in the 70 s with the 302 v8 in the 60s they put 427 cubic inch V8 s in the !964 comet like i say 1964 was the best year for thous cars best looking lots of crome
I miss my 72 Maverick. 351 w / 5 speed tremec transmission, 9" rear diff , power lok LS . Very fast car but I was hit broadside by a drunk in a Chevrolet 1/2 ton pickup. Lucky I lived but the Maverick wasn't as lucky
I had a 67 cougar that I bought thst was a GT with a big block 390 with a 4 speed ! It had the same rims & I painted the spokes the same color as the body color which was a bright red. I had never owned a ford before ( I was into chevrolet chevelle's & Nova's) . All my friends hated the car until I painted the spokes & they said it made the car ! Two weeks later word got back to the ford dealership & the owner himself wanted to buy it. I only paid a thousand dollars for it & he offered me $5,000 but I said I would think about it & he said his top offer was $6,000 so I accepted it & he had me drive it to the dealership with him so he could pay me in cash ! ( He couldn't drive a standard) A couple of days later he found out how much I bought it for & he wasn't too happy about that ! He said I swindled him ! The vehicle is worth about $65,000 now !
Do you still have this car? I just picked up at 74 and ironically enough I’m about 3 miles away from you. I saw you were off of Ashland and 168 area. I promise I’m not stalking LOL. I would love to take a look at your car if you would allow it. That color is the exact color I was thinking of painting mine

Maverick is such an underrated car from the 70s. I love the style and body design more than most cars from that era.
Yeah, but they were major rust buckets.
A light restoration. Wow. I had a 1972 withna 302. Won a lot of races with it in the 80's. Wish I never got rid of it.

It's weird how time changes our perception. 25 years ago I thought this was one of the ugliest pieces of junk ever made. Now I love it.
It is a "muscle car" that I can actually afford.
Looks very similar to my 75. I put the small bumpers from a 70 and a 351W in her. Very nice car!

I love how he almost used the British pronunciation of aluminum then quickly switched to the American pronunciation.
You have a beautiful car👍👍
Was watching your video seen the 41 on ramp an thought to myself..."hey i know where hes at" . Lol im local to you. Well kind of.. im in madera
Hello Neighbor we are so lucky to live here in the Central Valley with so many rust free classic cars.
I too live local and have a Maverick! Parents live near Ashlan and Barton and I live in Clovis near Fowler and Ashlan.
Your Car is amazing, I love your channel. You should have way more subs.
I appreciate that!
Perfect engine for this car
Beautiful example of a really nice Hot Rod.
Lookin good mang. Little jealous over here
It’s beautiful it’s really beautiful back in the 70s I had a neighbor that had one and it was red and white with aluminum wheels of course very cool
I was waiting for you to mash it!! :D I miss my Maverick and my 71 Comet GT.
This is exactly how I would have built it myself. Always wanted a late model 5.0 efi engine in a Maverick! Then later on I would install a 347 stroker kit!

Super nice car sir
I love the color
In the70s I had a neighbor that had a red and white maverick very cool
where did you find the weatherstripping for the doors?
What type of stereo do you have in it I'm looking for one for mine so I can get the old factory one out
Is the maverick 2door body the same from 1969.5 to 1978. With the exception of the bigger bumpers from 73 and later ?
Nice Maverick but did not have power brakes originally. Power brakes were not offered until 1975..
Needs bucket seats, sport mirrors, Grabber ducktail, and dual exhausts.

The reason it was underrated is because there were no hi performance engine options, can you imagine if it would have had a Boss 302 or 351?
How long ago is the quarter mile or 0 to 100?
From 93-95 Had a Mav74 with a bore over 40 /302 with hooker 👀 headers, and a Holly 4
She was a RocketSledd
Brother blew it upp
Love you maverick but you need upper control arm bushings , that is what the squeak is from. Ask me how I know.
