Less than a year ago, I switched from the Glycerin 21 to the Novablast 4, and it was a gamechanger. I now have the Novablast 5 for my daily training, but I also have the Glycerin MAX for my long/recovery runs.
I have the the Glycerin 22. Probably the best shoe I have used the foam is just perfect for me and will last longer than the Novablast and NB. Ben Parkes said the grip on the Novablast was still terrible, so Glycerin takes the win for me. I find I can pickup the pace in the Glycerin much easier than previous versions and find the DNA tuned midsole gives great feedback and remains consistent in +20mile runs. The other shoes tend to sap energy after a while.
What other shoes sap the energy after running in them for longer? You still tried the NB5? 1080v13 is said to be too soft, yes. As for the sink in and energy sapping: that's why I love the Puma Nitro foam shoes :)
Sure, why not? Just if you really heavily pronate or are a very heavy runner, I would go for a more stable daily trainer or one with little bit more stability elements. I also run in the Kayano Lite 3, whats wrong with that? Nothing, it is just not the fastest shoe, but neither is the bulky walking shoe Kayano 31. Asics Outlet, 100€. Nice shoe! Probably more stable: Saucony Tempus. I got one, but they run a half size smaller than other Sauconys and I have not yet secured a pair half a size up. Just today I wrote someone on a 2nd hand plattform :)
@ appreciate the reply when I went for a running analysis back in September they said I was neutral but I have suffered shin splints in the past. Yes the Gel Kayano feels huge (that’s because it is I guess). So the Nova Blast might be able to offer me something different on days where I’m running 5-8ks?
@@jamesmc0716 Yes, Novablast is livelier than the Kayano Lite 3. If a Novablast I would recommend the Novablast 4 if you can find it. Maybe there is more Novablast 4 TR in stock than regular ones - which is the better shoe! I also have one. It is the same NB4 but the rubber on the outsole is ever so slightly thicker, which makes the grooves deeper, which should improve traction. The +15g you don't notice. Imho if the TR version exists, there is no reason for the regular one to do too.
I've read that the novablast 5 will be too soft for anyone over about 12.5 stone. im a fair bit more than that and love my superblast 1/2's. What's are peoples thoughts? Should i be looking elsewhere for a daily. Adidas S L 2' maybe?
I found the novablast 3 too soft and the sl2s I had to sell, far too narrow for me, I’m a good bit over 12.5 stone (more 14!) so I’m very happy with brooks and wider shoes , saucony seems to work well for me too
I've thought about the Novablast 5 if the Superblast 2 is out of stock when I need to replace Superblast 1. I use that for pretty much everything and I think the durability and versatility justifies the higher price.

Dang it and I just bought the glycerin 21 😩
Morning all. For my 65kgs, I prefer the Novablast 5 or the Brooks Ghost Max 2. I love the drops 4-8mm. Like to Fordy. A nice weekend for everyone.
Right on

It’s typical asics outsole on NB5 but marginally improved vs previous version
Interesting thoughts.
@@FordyRunsIt is still AHAR-LO like in the NB4, just in Syperblast 2 style. Maybe this geometry is the whole improvement

I run in Gel Kayano Stability 31s would the Nova Blast 5 be good to use on my shorter daily runs?

@ yes I was just diving down the TH-cam rabbit hole on the Nova Blast and the issue with grip in wet weather came up and the recommendation of the TR.
@ then go for it and enjoy! :)

@@jasonreid6791 Thanks for the reply. Funny enough current rotation is mainly Brooks/Saucony. Maybe stick to what i know works. Cheers mate.
Watch my video on Feb 6th I have the perfect shoe for you
Novablast 5 is phenomenal. I just keep reaching for it.
Wet road grip in the NB5 is poor, verging on unusable if you try picking up the pace. Shame, as otherwise it's a great shoe.
Mine became decent after 20km, though it's not excellent still. Maybe the outsole needs some breaking in.
Mine ok but terrible at the start

Agreed
Fordy speaks, I take notes 📝
Please review the Nike Pegasus Premium
I have them but I won’t rush a video out to get views I want to actually run in the shoe 👀
You should be wearing them to the mall instead…
NB5 not the same shoe after 100 miles.
What you thinking
Agreed the foam compresses really bad
I haven't found New Balance Fresh Foam to last very long.
🏃👣😀
Thank you
