- Happy birthday to Whisker! And to his W-siblings.
3 years ago, Whisker was born together with 2 sisters, Waka and Winta @zooantwerpen.
The first litter of triplets of mama Tasa and papa Nestor. The 2 lionesses moved to Whipsnade in May 2023 and have now accepted Malik as their mate. I added their photos so you can see how beautiful they all are. Everyone hopes there will be cubs soon.
I included a few clips copied from my earlier videos. You can find them listed on my TH-cam video channel.
As you will notice, Whisker has more confidence and is more at ease since Papa Nestor moved to Bellewaerde Park (also in Belgium) in March this year.

Happy Birthday Whisker! Aww did he get a giraffe piñata? That is so cute!
Yes, as a surprise for their 1st birthday, Whisker and his sisters Waka and Winta the zookeepers got them 3 papier maché animals : a zebra, an antelope, and the giraffe was conquered as the last one. The zoo had announced the birthday party, so a lot of fans and visitors gathered to watch it. That was so much fun!
This year, I went to the zoo on the 17th on purpose, hoping the zookeepers would have prepared a surprise for Whisker, but nothing to be seen. Apparently, they just forgot about him! Not even a post on Instagram about it. Too bad, but at least l got to see him and his family.
Because of his valuable genes, papa Nestor was moved to Bellewaerde Park, located on the other side of Flanders. He was supposed to mate with 2 newly arrived lionesses. Sadly, the meeting with lioness Maya went all wrong and he killed her. At first, all went well, but then suddenly his attitude changed and nothing could be done to save Maya.
It was an unfortunate event that happens more often at zoos. Nobody knows how things will progress with the other lioness. In any case, Nestor can't come back to Zoo Antwerpen.

I went to the zoo hoping Whisker would get a birthday treat... but there hadn't been anything, as another fan told me. Although other animals born in the zoo were mentioned on the Instagram account. Maybe today, Tuesday, feeding day. I'll let you know.

Just keeping you updated and saying still no treats for Whisker. Last week was a post about the birthday of an African buffalo that was born at Zoo Antwerpen. Well, so was Whisker, right. I find it really sad he was forgotten! 🦁☹️
