There are a handful of D1ers usually every year at this tournament, for example one of Japans WRs is playing D1, cant remember the school of the top of my head. They also have a pro league and a college league that are very well established, around 50 years for them called "X League" I gotta say their linework is incredible, and I expect we'll be seeing some Japanese O-Linemen in the NFL in the next 10 years. Usually Canada will have a handful too, not sure about this year but definitely in the past. They have college and pro too in the form of CFL, which most would say is the second best football league in terms of talent. I am Canadian and I would say we probably take the tournament the most serious and usually send most of our best guys, but a lot of the Canadian D1 commits don't play for this because their college restricts them from doing so, just like the US players. At least a dozen D1ers every year from Canada but most don't play for the national team, they don't need/want to since they're already recruited to a big school. USA team has had quite a few but this year's roster is by far one of the worst put together when you consider they've had talents like Jameis Winston and Jordan Poyer play for the national team. I am assuming USA will be back for vengeance next tournament with how much notice has been put on this one. I'm really looking forward to the next one since this one got so much recognition!
Looks like Japan lost their star runner (#2, who ran wild on the US) on their first possession. Tough break. These kids are cramming games in every 3-4 days, and for the non-host nations there's probably pressure to keep their rosters small to keep travel costs down. Canada had host advantage this time, but the US and Mexico have had it in the past. It rotates. Hopefully Japan or Austria get a shot next, it's definitely an advantage in terms of getting as many of your best players as you can to the event. Canada even had enough to field a second team (replacing Mexico who backed out late I think).
Canada had two squads, because both Mexico and Sweden didn't make it and both Brazil and Panama were added instead of just winner of their game in the qualifiers.

So we're a world power in this league? Fantastic ball, the players showed a ton of skill, not to mention excellent coaching, beating this terrific Japanese team. Line play was great, both teams showed pretty balanced attacks and the defensive sides played well. Such a thing to watch, well done to both teams.
I think it's the athleticism. Canadian players are more athletic than American players at average. That's because the US programs have emphasized strength, power and size so much through the years, aspects of athleticism such as quickness and agility have been largely overlooked. Canadian athleticism plays well with Canadian football where the field is bigger and the number of players are smaller. You can see the Americans couldn't handle the agility of undersized Japanese players whereas the Canadians had no problem with that. If you have the athleticism, then size matters a whole lot. On the other hand, it's true that team USA weren't made up of their best players. If they had brought in their best players, their pure bulk and force probably would've stopped the Japanese team flat and clean. But as a longtime "football" fan in Japan, I'm really surprised that our team won, even against a third tier US team.
@@clubeyxander5132no it’s because this tournament is geared at increasing American football interest in other countries so they limit who the USA can add to their team. If the USA brought their best players every team would get seriously hurt😂.
@thecrt2 NO, you didn't get my point. The US are the best at American football, period. If they wielded their best players in this tournament, half of the other teams wouldn't even make it home. It used to be like that even when the US brought their 3rd division teams. What I was saying is that because the American programs are concentrating so much more on size and power, the athleticism gets overlooked from the second tier and beyond. I'm not talking about the very best players. I'm talking about things at average. And my statement that Canadian football is more athletic is just a fact based on the size of the field and number of players. You should watch some CFL once in a while, it's uniquely different from the NFL. There's more space, and they run a lot more, too. I'm not saying it's better, I'm just saying it's different. But if you don't want to listen, it's OK with me. I was just replying to the person who asked whether USA sucks or not. My plain answer was, they don't. I just provided my insight into why their team lost.
@@clubeyxander5132 okay that clears some things up that the team they brung wasn't the best American team, because the American football players I see (especially in Texas) are some big boys! We did it for y’all my southern neighbors! They not beating North America!
Who is the World Champions now america
How come USA was not in the final?
Good game
So they play NHL or CFL rules?

Ppl still dont know that Football is From Montreal, Canada
5:20 The ref
Great attendance
it's good that they have the kids playing on a kiddie-size field. when they grow up, they can play on the adult fields of the cfl.
I wish the Elks defense was that good
Go Canada 🏈🇨🇦🏈🇨🇦🏈🇨🇦💯
Now that was a real football game.
World Champions at a sport we don't even play here. If you look carefully, you can see the markings for a real football field outside this tiny American thing.
Da hora! Japão estava bem !
USA did yal take notes today.
No they too busy making millions in the NFL
@@codyzimmer9257 definitely not referring to the pro’s bud. Whatever league this is and however they recruit the players on the team USA is what I’m getting at.
ggでした〜!
Japanese played well, great game!
Nice uniforms Canada 🍁
Oof their offense got dominated but they played well defensively. Really interesting to watch
Go to 5:20 and put it on .25 speed.
Man that would've been USA in there against Canada if they had gotten even just a few DI commits to play on that squad. No doubt any of the top 30 QBs out of HS could've led that USA team to a title but they don't want to get hurt. I think it should be a decision the coaches and player makes and if the player is going to be redshirted, then he should be allowed to compete in that first year's world championship tournament. I don't know how they would do that but they could definitely do it.
Go Japan
USA still mad they weren’t in the finals 😂😂
No we aren't we send low level d3 player 😂 if we send our best it would be 200-0 at halftime🤡
@@Tpnathan38 I don't even think team USA has D3 players out there. Not a single 4 star or 5 star recruit on the team, might not even have a 3 star recruit if were being serious.
Ya they are playing the "oh ya well we didn't send the good players" card. They need to suck it up say congrats to the winners and move on.
@@thegammingdinosaur189 why r u talking to yourself😅
@@thegammingdinosaur189 they can’t let it go 😂😂😂
Japan was dominant in the early days of international football, but back then Canada and the US weren't allowed to compete.
Also, going into this tournament, I expected Japan to have good players at these positions: WR, CB, FS and RB, which play to Japanese strengths in the agility area.
"Into Japanese territory" wild hearing that outside of war reference
Canada primed to be non repeat champion next year.
