[2021] Energy Storage Systems Inspired by Nature | Research & Development Impressions | CMBlu Energy

Since our first film shooting in 2021, a lot has happened and our technology continued to develop from an Organic Flow battery based on lignin to an Organic SolidFlow™ battery made from carbon-based molecules.
Nevertheless, research and development is crucial for us, so we would like to share a few impressions from back then, demonstrating some of our journey towards sustainable energy storage inspired by nature.

Founded in 2014, CMBlu Energy started out as a research project by founder and CEO Dr. Peter Geigle following nature’s example to store energy in organic cells. In the meantime, the company grew to about 180 employees, 100 of which are scientists involved in research and development. We are now one of the world’s largest developers of non-lithium-based energy storage systems in the multi-megawatt range. Headquartered in Alzenau, Bavaria, in the Rhine-Main-Area, and represented in Petaluma, California, USA, we’re working on enabling energy storage everywhere, with safe, sustainable Organic SolidFlow battery technology. ⚡️
