Abandoned Detroit Crematory Raided By Police

  • With Detroit having its fair share of creepy abandoned funeral homes, it might not come as a complete surprise to people that there’s also an abandoned crematorium. And this particular crematorium, was at the center of controversy for the past couple of years, mainly due to the owners disgraceful and rather shady past. First off for those that may not know; a crematorium is where a deceased body would go to be cremated or in other words, the body is then set on fire and the high temperature heat gradually consumes the body. The remains are then reduced to ashes and bone fragments, which are then usually transferred into a decorative urn and given to the families and loved ones for keepsake.
Anyway, the crematorium was permanently closed in 2021 after the business was exposed by state investigators and then subsequently raided by state police.
The crematorium was owned and operated by a well known notorious funeral director, who at this point in time, must have certainly be used to trouble and scandal as he was also the former owner of the a now infamous shuttered funeral home in the area that was closed for having decomposing bodies with maggots in the garage along with several bloody caskets.
So it was 2021, only a few years after all of this mess, that he found himself again in hot water after his latest business venture, a cremation service company was suddenly raided by state police. Obviously state authorities knew of the controversial funeral home owner and were aware that he also had a history of licensing problems, however, there were 2 main reason for the raid: 1) previously the owner had all of his funeral privileges revoked and because of such actions, he was not eligible or allowed to hold a controlling interest in any funeral business, cemetery, and/or crematory. Records show that he had purchased the crematorium in early 2020 despite having no licensure to operate such a business. And then 2) state authorities claimed that he was “improperly storing and disposing of bodies at the crematorium” despite the owner denying these allegations against him.
Just weeks after the raid, state authorities announced that they had removed all of the bodies from the now shuttered crematorium, however upon our exploration we were in complete shock and disbelief as we soon found out otherwise…
As of 2023, the crematorium has since been mostly cleaned out as the owner continues to fight in effort to clear his now scared name and overcome any potential criminal charges. Unfortunately that will wrap it up for this abandoned crematorium video, but stay tuned Because we have more videos coming soon! The one memorial you came across off the man fishing was a world renown pediatric neurosurgeon. He repaired the spinal column of a 23 week old fetus and was able to put it back in utero. Very accomplished man, sad to see he was taken to this place :(

Even if caskets were donated , they would still have to pay for the burial part which can cost up to $7,000 alone. This was the situation with my mom’s funeral so we opted to rent a casket and cremate.

Not in my state and many others ….. One does NOT have to pay for burial of a un - embalmed body or ashes. They do not DEMAND through law tha you “MUST” embalm as long as you are willing to and can adhere to the “time guidelines” necessary. Anyone can start their own “family” cemetery if equipped to meet the governing laws.

My son was cremated 8 years ago. The place we had his funeral and had him cremated was so clean and nice. My heart breaks for the families. They pay so much money and hope their loved ones remains are treated with respect. The man that did this is disgusting!!! He needs to be in jail.

My mom was cremated and I was parked outside in the parking lot while she was being cremated I’m blessed that my cousin was the owner to the funeral home so she was well taken care of. So sad seeing how careless they were how could they pass by the ashes not seeing them crazy.

The machine is called a cremalator it's basically a machine used to pulverise ashes and Bone fragments into a sand-like consistency. . When you remove ashes from a retort also known as a cremation machine. The ashes or cremains quite a bit of large pieces of bones that need to be broken down more. The tray is a collection Tray where the ashes or cremains are swept into. The hole on the trade and then you pour them into the cremalator

I went to an abandoned Funeral Home on 8 mile by The Booby Trap in the 80's. I told the woman who was in there "smoking" that I was there from the Realtor's office and that we were reboarding up the building because it had been sold that I'd give her a couple minutes to gather her things and she wouldn't be trespassed if she left right away. IT WORKED! ( I guess I was an urban explorer lol ) I told my Death and Dying professor about the cremains of loved ones left behind and he called the State to report it. Good on ya for doing the same. Stay safe and be blessed.

When my boyfriend passed away, his mom had visitation, a funeral, then had him cremated & the ashes sealed in a jade box and buried near his father. The cheap- looking blue caskets you were showing around 25:25 go inside of a rental casket, then after viewing, the body is cremated in the blue "cardboard" casket.

Those machines with the stainless steel drum on top are "cremulators" or remains processors. They are used to pulverize the remaining bone fragments into a fine white powder we know as ashes.

Not all dead bodies have living relatives…… I know many living bodies who don’t have blood realatives either. You can’t “claim” anything that has went to and now belongs in the “system”. Those remains may never be claimed by anything other than government __________ *fill in that blank*
I don’t consider our justice system anything but an idea of someone’s ideal. 🤷‍♀️

Cremation devices or retorrs one is bigger than the other for larger size Bodies. The brooms that you saw in the corner what they use to sweep the ashes into a container after cremation. II you do not have to rotate a body as its cremating it will reduce on its own and burn through a wooden casket or box. The concrete slaves you showed earlier in the video our burial vaults. Some cemeteries require caskets to be buried in a vault. For instance if burial vault had been used the caskets would have never surfaced an been floating in the water

The concrete is to make the casket molds. All caskets are placed inside them during burial. Those concrete molds you showed are for the top of the casket mold. There’s a corresponding deep concrete container where the casket gets placed inside and then the concrete top is put over it. They put the bottom mold into the burial hole, then lower the casket into it. Then the top concrete cast is put on it.

The reason why you can't open it is because there are either bodies in them or they didn't finish creamating the bodies. The tools you see is not to turn the bodies it's to push feather down for cremation. The only reason why I know is because my little brother in law runs a cemetery with a cremation chamber. The machine you saw is the bone grinder for making ashes of the bones.

@@abandonedcentral if I were you I would contact the chief of police of Detroit city and find out who the chief of police is then I would contact the mayor's office and let him know that that you found an abandoned Funeral Home / crematorium and there are ashes still out there that belong to loved ones that need to be returned and then I would contact the Indiana State Police Department and get in touch with a detective and tell him what you found then I would call the coroner's office and talk to him and see what he says to do about the ashes

Why didn't they just get a business license for the crematorium? Literally you don't need to be a licensed funeral director to operate a crematorium. That's just lazy and stupid.

Those are not human remain ashes. Cremains as they're called are white or beige in color. That is likely ash of cardboard or wood. That machine you found is a cremulator, used to grind the bones to fine dust.

    • @abandonedcentral
      @abandonedcentral  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

They 100% are cremains. They are in cremated remains boxes with the peoples names on the box. The cremains are a white/ beige color. No one is putting ash from cardboard inside a cremated remains box then labeling them with peoples names.

Around 10:20 that is a cremulator to mill the remains into fine ashes.

The concrete slabs are for the vault after the coffin is lowered into the ground. It seals the coffin in the hole.

Hope you can get some help finding the families to claim their loved ones remains. That's not right just letting them stay there in that horrible funeral home. They need to be properly buried if there's no families to claim them. Please help them find their families. 😭
