I miss the Portuguese night life a lot… it’s unique and you always have great ambience and mood in it. Here in Finland where I’ve been for about 2 years now it’s quite different and the people aren’t as social :(

Depressing. I used to be a regular in these places in the beginning of the 80's mostly journalists, artists and true bohemians back then. Now, it's just like any other city in Europe.
@@laloelsalamanca Gentrified?? AHAHAHA. I wish! Do you want to see more "diverse" (lets call it like that, its PC now) scenery? That's very easy, just wake up earlier and take a walk downtown, and also in this same area. Do you also think there is "too much tourists", that's great just be ready to loose 20% of the GDP, and be even poorer than we are now.
@@Cobalt1520 Yes, I'm ready to lose 20% or more of the "precious GPD", been there, done that and survived better. Screw tourism and all it's "richies", we were just fine before Lisbon become a trend, just so you know there's only so much people every city can take before it starts to lose it's authenticity and service quality as it has been happening in a lot of cities all over EU, too much of everything is never a good thing. As for waking up earlier, do yourself a favour and mind your own business because I have the right to wake up at the time I wish and want without having to avoid the hordes of obnoxious annoying tourists in own my city streets.

There are a lot of businesses that depend on the tourism to survive, namely small restaurants, pivatelly owned AL's, small shops and various services. Most of these are owned by "normal" people, not bilionaires. They need the money to raise their families, we need their families to carry Portuguese identity and authenticity to the next generations, because a People is not only places, its the memory and culture of the people who live there, without Portuguese there will be no Portugal.
@@Cobalt1520 Whatever, the point is I personally miss the Lisboa Antiga, decadent and unkown to most foreigners but with occasional and even accidental tourism, that's something that will never go back certainly, no problem I can deal with that. I guess I'm lucky I've lived through those pristine years and experienced a great authentic city full of History and mysticism.

It is another history in Porto
It is different, yes, and I would like to film nice spots in Porto for a nice Porto nightlife video! Any advice? I've filmed in Ribeira (as I mentioned in my reply to another comment from you), but I'm sure there are more places to film a nice nightlife... Looking forward to hearing from you (and I'm in Porto right now ;)
Clarification, as a tourist, is it safe to walk at night through those streets of Barrio Alto Lisbon that are not very illuminated?

I miss the Portuguese night life a lot… it’s unique and you always have great ambience and mood in it. Here in Finland where I’ve been for about 2 years now it’s quite different and the people aren’t as social :(

Hey there Alexandre! Well, the discos and bars in Bairro Alto are small sized, really; that's how the traditional buildings are in that area. With so many people in Bairro Alto usually, people gather much more in the streets; there's no other way :) :) Thanks for your support and for subscribing to Zen Walks :)
Depressing. I used to be a regular in these places in the beginning of the 80's mostly journalists, artists and true bohemians back then. Now, it's just like any other city in Europe.
It's sad, I miss the old decadent Lisbon, this gentrified hypped version is just fake, boring and sucked all the grit and character of genuine Lisboa.
@@laloelsalamanca Gentrified?? AHAHAHA. I wish! Do you want to see more "diverse" (lets call it like that, its PC now) scenery? That's very easy, just wake up earlier and take a walk downtown, and also in this same area. Do you also think there is "too much tourists", that's great just be ready to loose 20% of the GDP, and be even poorer than we are now.
@@Cobalt1520 Yes, I'm ready to lose 20% or more of the "precious GPD", been there, done that and survived better. Screw tourism and all it's "richies", we were just fine before Lisbon become a trend, just so you know there's only so much people every city can take before it starts to lose it's authenticity and service quality as it has been happening in a lot of cities all over EU, too much of everything is never a good thing. As for waking up earlier, do yourself a favour and mind your own business because I have the right to wake up at the time I wish and want without having to avoid the hordes of obnoxious annoying tourists in own my city streets.

There are a lot of businesses that depend on the tourism to survive, namely small restaurants, pivatelly owned AL's, small shops and various services. Most of these are owned by "normal" people, not bilionaires. They need the money to raise their families, we need their families to carry Portuguese identity and authenticity to the next generations, because a People is not only places, its the memory and culture of the people who live there, without Portuguese there will be no Portugal.
@@Cobalt1520 Whatever, the point is I personally miss the Lisboa Antiga, decadent and unkown to most foreigners but with occasional and even accidental tourism, that's something that will never go back certainly, no problem I can deal with that. I guess I'm lucky I've lived through those pristine years and experienced a great authentic city full of History and mysticism.
