He suffered much. Apparently his writings are expressive of this. It is good to have balance in life, and in what one reads. Remember, one has one's own life to live. We can only make our lives more positive and better by appreciating and being grateful for all the beauty and love we have available to us here - then strive to do good in the best way we are able. His personal life is not ours to know, and we cannot comprehend what the author never shared - but he had a good life as far as is known. A good life.
Listening with half an ear while dozing. In this state, I realized that Kafka's stories are like dreams. You never quite know what is happening or why, and you never get the answer before you wake up..
Not bad as a "bare bones" chronicle of Kafka's life, but certainly an author of his stature, comparable to Joyce and Hemingway in his influence on later writers (not to mention the artist who best epitomizes our "Age of Anxiety") deserves more than a half-hour overview. Something far more comprehensive is needed, an in-depth exploration which covers all three of his novels (not just "The Trial") as well as his powerful short stories --- "The Metamorphosis," "In the Penal Colony," "A Hunger Artist," and others. This might entail a multi-part series running several hours --- but why not? What explains the comparative neglect of such a unique and original artist?

I'm sure he read Socrates. Nothing new under the sun only borrowed, sometimes very well. Reminding. awakening again n again. Good writers and artists live in tumultuous times. Great ones live in and wherever.
Cool documentary, but I kinda gotta agree with the people in the comments. To me, personally, the music’s not annoying that I wanna turn this off, but it’s so goofy that I tried to hold myself back from laughter a few times. Other than that, I want to go back to Prague again.
Geez. Ditch the ding=dong noise, please! Way too loud for anyone hearing impaired, as it competes with the narrative annoyingly. Otherwise, not bad for a brief overview of Kafka.
Sadly enough, Frantz Kafka was probably fortunate to have died so young. Had he survived into the 1930s he would have faced with the horrors of Nazism. He would have been would almost certainly deported to a concentration camp. I'm reasonably sure that any writings of his would have been burned by Nazi barbarians
His life and works have long since fascinated me, but after 7 minutes of plinky-plonky irritating noise, I had to turn the shit off. No doubt an interesting video destroyed by a poor choice of noise with too frequent appearances and repetition, with levels too high. Well done 👎
I guess it's just me but I do not care for his writing at all. Never found it to be interesting or enjoyable reading. His stories never made any sense to me kind of like abstract art. Personally I think he was off his rocker.
annoying background music
You’re annoying
👍
It's way too loud.
If only it was ‘background’.
Very
Kafka was a Cosmic Gift and his work can help sensitive Souls feel less alone.
What an extraordinary person he was. His writing revealed only a fraction of his agony.

Rest in peace 🙏

music is maddening
Thanks for giving me 30 minutes with Uncle Franz!
Haha of course! We love our Uncle Franz
Listening with half an ear while dozing. In this state, I realized that Kafka's stories are like dreams. You never quite know what is happening or why, and you never get the answer before you wake up..
The Kafka Museum in Prague is really well done, a small but fascinating gem. See it!
Thank you for this documentary!
every one in this Kafkaesque world must have enduring a sort of a Kafkaesque life experience during his life journey !...
Jeder in dieser kafkaesken Welt muss während seiner Lebensreise eine Art kafkaeske Lebenserfahrung gemacht haben! ..

Sadly, 30 minute about an author is too long for most people. Especially since most have never read his works.
That music is too annoying
Ugh, this music ruins it 😖
An excellent documentary on my favorite writer. I look forward to watching all your others.
Many thanks for this episode
the back ground music should have been quieter! but go on❤❤
Sorry........ Seen just 2min, couldn't stand the load " background" music...

This would be a great video, but I found the music too distracting and had to stop watching it.
I'm sure he read Socrates. Nothing new under the sun only borrowed, sometimes very well. Reminding. awakening again n again.

Thank you!
I'm sure that Kafka travelled frequently to any destination imaginable.🌈
He continued his government job for 15 years, from the age of 20 to 35, and retired voluntarily with a pension.
my goodness the music is intolerable

good doc, but edit out the music. Distracting
The music adds to it, i think!
It can't have been easy with his mind, people you're not even aware of ensure you don't get on.
irrational fear yet lucid

That piano is bothering, isn't it?
Dreadful! The music is louder than the narrator's voice. I like this channel but ditched this documentary after 2 minutes.
Nuts. Intrusive background "music" wins. I can't watch any more. I quit.
Very strange choices of emphasis, and examples of unsupported editorial comment.
He was a brilliant writer.

They were.
The music could be a little lower takes away from the message
this soundtrack got to be the worst one ever. I had to stop seeing the video
Kafka, Nosferatu in person?
It is "Metamorphosis" - singular, not "Metamorphoses"
Nice video, but this daft unlistenable chatter makes it almost impossible to appreciate the music.
I have the same deformation at the left ear:)
Kafka a surrealist gadfly.
?
He was born in July. He died in June.
I see
Ironic that a biography of Kafka is so antisemitic in its content.
However KafkZionist
Kaka was anti Sionist

this man knows nothing about Jews and is rather rude
I guess it's just me but I do not care for his writing at all. Never found it to be interesting or enjoyable reading. His stories never made any sense to me kind of like abstract art. Personally I think he was off his rocker.
Why on earth is he pronouncing gymnasium so poorly?
