This was the first video I had someone else edit from start to finish, as part of my plan to start releasing videos more frequently. What do you guys think?
Yep, definitely don't plan on giving up editing myself, particularly on the bigger videos. Just trying to figure out how to make more time to shoot more videos of all the crazy adventures and projects I have planned for 2018, and everything I'll see along the way.
It's so captivating when someone starts to speak about something they are passionate about, it's so nice to just let them talk and talk and explain all without interrupting or having to prompt. Was really cool to see.
I honestly really love your videos. The way you document other cultures and countries really brings a whole new perspective to places that are sometimes viewed in not-so-positive ways. You give them a real inside and personal touch that truly shows the hidden beauty of these places. Keep up the great work, Scotty. Can't wait to see more!
i just want to say that i really like the way you talk with people of other cultures, even if they don't speak English that well. very respectful, we need more of that, respect for people that are different from us. i should try to look with a little more respect to Americans.. editing was good. would love to see more videos!
i don't think Americans specific are bad to people from other countries. but respecting and understanding other countries is pretty hard. for most nationalities. a lot of Dutch people find Americans to come over pretty fake because of the extreme niceness and things like asking how someone is without expecting a actual answer. but Americans find dutch people rude because we are (in their view) extremely honest and open. it's normal to say it openly if someone looks tired of is dressed strange in your opinion. but that doesn't translate trough cultures very well :) what i really liked from the strange part guy is that even though the people in the video had trouble communicating he didn't fill in the blanks too much and listened. not every content creator does that so well IMO.
john pardon “Two things in this world I can’t stand; people intolerant of other cultures and....the Dutch”-Austin Powers Nah, we love the Dutch here in the States.
Asking how someone is here is just a method of greeting- sometimes it's a genuine question, but usually it's just a nicety. If you ever talk with an American in the future, feel free to either answer honestly (but don't ramble or go too in-depth without prompting) or just give a quick simple response like "I'm alright" or "I'm good". As for being honest, yeah that's definitely an interesting cultural different. Mentioning that someone is dressed strangely in particular would be considered pretty rude here. Unless it's just ridiculously odd. Like wearing a cosplay outfit to a business meeting.
Scotty, I gotta be honest with you fam. When I see one of your videos it brings back memories of when I used to watch The Travel Channel 24/7. I fricken love exotic places and destinations. However, You also add technologies to your videos, another passion of mine. You're essentially hitting two of my favorite topics with almost every single video you post, and I appreciate and admire your work (:
I really love the way you talk so naturally to a camera, like your talking directly to me. (and all those other watchers of course but hey) Keep up the good work.
Loved the part with the young brother.I hope he and his bird are ok.......Awesome work, the way you show other countries and their cultures and also talk with other people is really cool, the world needs more people like you sir.Cant wait to see more videos.
wow. Its great to see a young person that shows so much respect and love towards anyone. Let alone a horse. Him talking about the horses like that is something you dont see anymore. N how he has such high respect for what they mean to his culture n forefathers
Hey Scotty! Channels like yours benefit TH-cam as a platform real good. I am excited about the idea of more frequent videos. Btw, interactions with the locals is always the best. Would love to see more of those. Keep it up!
Your videos genuinely make me smile. They are always fascinating and unique, and I'd love to see them more frequently! You put a lot of work into showing these interesting places in a raw and positive light, and it shows. Well done, I look forward to your next one.
I teach English as a second language, and I just love watching you interact with people whose first language isn't English. You can tell the guy with the falcon was nervous, but it was probably his first time speaking with a native English speaker. He had nothing to worry about, his grasp of English was great!
this channel by far is one of my favorite travel vlog channel. its so much different than those other travel vlogs in a way where it explores everyday culture and life of people that they take for granted, but us on the other side of the world find super fascinating. Also i love how Scotty is always smiling, it gives the video a very relaxed and calm vibe. Great video pal!!
Videos are cool. Not many "normal" TH-camrs left. You're more in touch with normal life then being all focused on views. Love the travel aspect plus the fact that you rebuild stuff or build your own phones etc. Seeing other cultures in a more peaceful way is cool. I'm a Rodeo guy from TX and I enjoy your videos, keep it up!!
I don't really press the like button on videos but there is something about your videos every time that makes me like them. They are my favorite thing about this website. I hope 2018 is a successful, adventure filled year for both yourself and your channel, Scotty!
Hi, big fan here. Just want to say is that your video making is getting so much better. Videos like this about non-techy stuff that I find boring, are still so well made they are enjoyable to watch.
I really like how you filmed the whole process of the man with the falcon opening up to you. At first he seemed like he didn't want to talk to you but over time he opened up, which was really cool to see.
Wasn’t remodeled. It was rebuilt with better and safer infrastructure. It’s exactly the way it was when it was first built a long time ago with better infrastructure. If you plan to come on back, it’ll be my pleasure to show you around :)
There’s so many people vlogging about travels and stuff but they are mostly jerks or really cocky, you are truly a nice guy which I love. Please keep doing this.
I always found it thrilling seeing foreigners come to Qatar and document it, I'm not a local but have lived here for 13 years and I basically grew up here. Enjoyed the video.
Credit to the person who edited your video! Got the same feel than the ones you edited and thats perfect! Again awesome video, awesome perspective. You are proof that quality content works, and im happy you're doing more
Your passion for travel, technology ...exploring the world and its peoples really comes through in your videos. Love the tech background and open minded disposition. Inspiring!!
This was a really cool insight on something I really had no idea about. Definitely gonna do some more digging around about falcons now lol amazing video as always though, thanks Scotty!
Bro you are of rare type. Everything from narration to filming scenes to delivering content is so unique and original. Keep making and posting more and more videos.💗
I've learned more about the true culture of Qatar in those 5 minutes with that young man than I've learned in a lifetime of media, news bulletins, and propaganda. Truly, priceless.
Just quick note to everyone interested in the falcon business. Some of the most expensive kinds are already extinct in Qatar. The birds in the markets are imports from China (and many other places), where they are also endangered. Selling falcons to Qatar is one of the most controversial topics in China. Selling endangered species is absolutely illegal, but their price tag plus better friendship with its biggest oil-supply country is undeniably appealing.
The content you are bringing will enrich peoples lives ... seeing other things that most people wouldn't even think of is great. In a time of drones and high speed internet, showing what the world is really like , people , and the things that they do is so important. Thanks for the effort your putting into these new videos.
Im living here in Qatar, this country welcomed us warmly, im 10 mins close to Souq waqif, but never seen this area so far. I have to witness this too. Thanks for this video :)
I’ve been to Doha, Qatar as well and made the mistake of going to that same souq on a Sunday and it was a ghost town. Great video, my favorite part of the souq was the falcon shop too.
these videos are so good! im from saudi arabia. surprised this young guy also got some good english. arabia is very different from other first world countries. they're very peaceful and formal. just a different culture and lifestyle :) these videos got money spent in them. questions. explorations. and your smile makes my day xD keep up the good work!
awesome haha i have been visit qatar in 2008 , mostly the qatari always smile very different with saudi , I always remember when i stay nearby al khor and doha
Great work , as always. Always looking forward for your new videos cause they feel very genuine and have interesting take. And i am glad you're considering to reseal videos more often. Keep up the good work.
Very well edited video! The scale for editing is usually something like "so bad it's noticeable" -> "unnoticeable but makes the video hard to enjoy" -> "well edited, but unnoticeable because the content of the video is interesting" -> "so well edited, it makes you appreciate the effort put in." This video was somewhere between the latter two :)
Welcome to Qatar Bro, The most beautiful country in the world, living here more than a decade made me a fan of this country and people here. That falcon boy is amazing! I like your vlogs. Cheers

What do you guys think?
I didn't notice. And that's a good thing.
Yeah, couldn't tell. The editor made sure that it looks uniform and in sync with your previous videos. Kudos! :")
Strange Parts Perfectly done, and if it means more videos count me in!
That's nice, still if you feel like you want to edit a video just "because", do it too !
Yep, definitely don't plan on giving up editing myself, particularly on the bigger videos. Just trying to figure out how to make more time to shoot more videos of all the crazy adventures and projects I have planned for 2018, and everything I'll see along the way.
You could see the sparkles in dude with the falcon eyes when he talked about the horses, That's pure passion.
It was such a nice moment when he began talking about them, his eyes said everything.
Horses can be super friendly and smart! One of perfect companion animals along with dogs.
It's so captivating when someone starts to speak about something they are passionate about, it's so nice to just let them talk and talk and explain all without interrupting or having to prompt.

very true.
That guy with the falcon and liked horses seemed so kind and sincere
All of the Qatari citizens -including me - are kind and nice to other people even if we don't know them

I loved that part with the young man
It was amazing
The difference in income between the two tho. Holy hell.
He really lit up when he talked about horses
@@MA-wf9pg are you really Qatari or just someone who lives in qatar, like an expat?

The falcion dude was pretty chill, i liked him haha
That conversation, beautiful. I love your videos.
The interview with the guy from Qatar was the best part.
Happy to see someone who is actually respectful to other countries and cultures.
Get you a guy who looks at you the way the Qatari guy looks at horses 😂
Nice guy at the end
Really appreciate how you let locals just talk in your videos, instead of over editing them!
So great the way that guys face lit up when he was talking about horses. great video, I love seeing the people you meet.
"I have came to Qatar to build my own falcon!"

I liked the way he is expressing himself, even the vlogger was pleased to talk to him!

Some orchards and vinyards in Arizona use falcons to keep birds out off of their crops. Pretty cool.

It's so beautiful! Something like Greece but more arabic.
I think you've got it backwards, Byzantine architecture influenced Islamic architecture. Are you talking about something in particular?
Torpcoms Byzantine was in middle east
Understandably so:
Greek > Roman > Byzantine > Islamic architecture
Yes it was physically farther from Rome, but its architecture was of ancient Greek origin.
The guy with the falcon from his brother seemed like a pretty nice guy! Also nice editing!
