I spoke to Bob Moog on the phone once and he answered the phone saying, "This is Bob Moog" and he pronounced it like, "Vogue". I heard that that was the reason for the Moog Rogue... sounds like Rogue. Roger is out here in N. California now... good man.
You're right. Moog is pronounced like Vogue. I knew Bob Moog when he was in Williamstown NY in the 70's and Roger Powell was the in-house musician playing with Todd Rundgren and later in North Carolina in the 90's.
Yes I know, I've met the man. But he named them ARP not A.R.P. I think it was an early UK sales rep who got it wrong. He might have been trying to disassociate them from the old ARP Wardens from WWII. Especially since Dad's Army was on TV back then and had an ARP Warden as the main rival and "bad guy".
Is it just me or did everyone of his sound clips sound like something from perhaps the last Depeche Mode Album or the new one coming up. I could almost hear David Gahan singing over the clips. ;-)
Why do so many Brits pronounce ARP as A.R.P.? If you want to hear what a 2500 can do listen to the opening of Elton John's Funeral for a Friend. David Hentschel did an amazing job on the opening.
Benge owns a synth nerd's dream studio and works regularly with the legend that is John Foxx. I work in a factory. I know who has the better deal here.
digital camera.... it's the charm of working with instruments like this. Most of the time why would you want to repeat the same patch? just record what you do and move on..
Because not everyone can afford Massive, music creation is not all about using only certain synths, it's all about using whatever gets the sounds you're after, if it happens to be Massive great more power to you, if it happens to be a vintage Moog System 55 synth, great, it's not all about what you use but how you use it, the reason why music sounds so homogenized today is that everyone uses the same gear and copies from everyone else because they want to be the same as the latest chart-topping act, which I think is futile.
No it's not. It sounds like Vogue. I owned a System 55 in the late 1970's. Bob hated everyone calling the systems Moooog, but they did anyway. Really, you should do some homework before acting like a noob.

building a modular and this just inspires me to finish it quicker
When you get a patch you like on the Serge, how do you document it for future use?
I wish I had hardware synths like him.

Fantastic machine.......
What's the synthesizer in the video thumbnail, seen on the far right of the frame at the very beginning of the video?

Does anyone making music with such synths anymore ? I wonder

Wow, he must be a billionaire! :)
RP was always one hell of a good keyboard man. He had to be just to hang with Todd.
