I hate how, for beginners in OC making, there’s three types of characters; the bubbly doormat, the emotionless one, and the badass. How to avoid this; write personality traits on popsicle sticks and draw four. Design the character around those four sticks. You can create some very intriguing personalities that way.
The worst thing is that all of those character types can be written in an interesting way if you have good supporting cast and make them little bit more complex. I mean, there are lots of good "Badasses" and "Emotionless" characters, they just get flooded by the shitty ones made by people who don't know how to balance things. Advice from me- If you have character that seems too flat or perfect, give them one major quirk or unusual trait. Some weird fobia, unusual hobby or something. Make them bite their nails, forget about major events in their life or overeat. Give them a goal in life. Something trivial they want yet can't get. Think about what would absolutely break them, and what would make them feel accomplished. Then think about how it may affect the rest of their character. You can go after stereotypes at first, and add more complex traits later. Take your time. Maybe give them contradicting traits, like adventurous+cowardly or something. Do you research. If you don't like something, don't be afraid so scrap it. People change, so should your characters.
Honestly, Mary Sues are a good thing. They show the things you messed up on and help you improve. It also helps with your color palettes. Most Mary Sues have eye-bleeding colors, and that’s a good thing, because it shows what colors mix and don’t mix. Don’t be sad if someone says that your oc is a Mary Sue or that it sucks, just be original and be you.
@@hunterw3240 Yeah if one is willing to learn from it. It can be a helpful device. Sometimes the best way to truly understand a story element, is not just to see how it was done successfully but also see how it was done poorly as well. Seeing something done poorly, can give more inslight and truly understand why something work in say on piece of fiction but failed in another. Allowing one to notice these often tiny details, that can sometimes make or break something.
The Oc copycat.. This has happened to me before. Someone made a character for me to use in my series and someone took that exact Oc and made it “their own”
I mean "IF" it was a gacha life oc Well.. i don't recommend using gacha life for making ocs cos: 1. It limits your creativity 2. There is a very high chance you do make an oc that is simulair to many many others gacha life ocs and maybe even the exact same
Michiko_ none of my OCs I have are made from gacha they were drawn and I just had to switch them to gacha but will draw them how I originally designed them.
@@Xelity38473 let me rephrase it for you, "people told me that my art sucks, but they don't give me reasons why so i can improve and fix my mistakes...it's really annoying". I think that's what they mean't
And when they do give criticism, they don't even say what's wrong with it and just say "it lOokS wEiRd, iDk" -i swear to God someday I'll punch them- -in the face-
Tbh comin from someone who started traditional and still drawing in it. Digital art is much more comfortable and affordable. I draw in both and digital art feels faster and more fluid to draw, it's also far easier to post than traditional art as I have horrible lighting in my home. It's easier to sell too as you aren't shipping an actual item so it's a very wanted item. I really enjoy traditional art though!
When I was a bit younger, me and my best friend were OBSESSED with making ocs, she had little to no experience with that type of stuff, (also with drawing) and she ALSO loved creepy pastas, so she basically rallied me into all these really bad Mary Sue stories and got me to draw the characters. She’s grown the fuck out of it now and we are still best friends! We are both ashamed and we either burned those memories in the trash and/or out of our memories :). ANOTHER STORY with me and her is that she likes to draw right now, and draws strictly anime, while i normally draw more of either a cartoony style, or realistic, or a cross between the two, and she (bless her soul) always asks me to compliment her art without ANY critique and to rate the picture she makes. Once I critiqued her art and she goes “I only asked you to COMPLIMENT it” and then I said that it’s not very good to have that mindset and stuff if she wants to improve and then her excuse was that she wasn’t “serious” about her art and doesn’t want to go into a career in art. I myself want to be an animator and think it’s great to always have at least a little bit of criticism and the thing is, she hasn’t really improved in the last two years, again I mention, she strictly stays into the area of anime, and the same exact anime style. All her drawings are VERY stiff and the necks😫😫 her necks are so very.....big. She also doesn’t take any criticism even when she asks for it. She’s a very great person but....not a very good artist. I don’t want to bring only ME up since I don’t really like my art most of the time, and am working hard to get into my dream high school(an art based school) and stuff. Anyways, sorry ya gotta read all this to whoever actually reads all of this :)
I do hate it when the whole story is based around the main character and everything revolves around them and they're way more important and powerful than anyone else. And it's like, whats the point of having other characters I'd they're not important? But, this isn't a bad thing in every case. First of all, every protagonist is special in some way or different from everyone else because if not they wouldn't be the protagonist. Secondly, one of my protagonists is a person of very high importance but the other characters have they're own personal stories and problems as well. Basically just don't over do it and remember there are other characters in the story ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (sorry for the rant)
Because they're the protagonist and guide throughout the story. Percy Jackson is centered around Percy as he acts as the narrator and protagonist, Harry Potter is mostly centered around Harry as it's his story, not Ron's nor Hermione's. I say, as long as your side characters don't get pushed to the background and are interesting, have at thee with centering your story around the protagonist
This may be a bad way to avoid it but the main plot to most of my characters revolve around 3 pairs of OCS. Therefore even when there's only one story being told, there is another story simultaneously running by it so it's not always centered around one character, it's centered around two. However the flaw in this is that the characters need a relationship with each other, and making all three lovey dovey pairs was certainly not an option, so I made a sibling pair, a friend pair and a dating pair. If I could add one more, it would be a pair who hate each other but want the glory of killing the other for themselves. There are probably better ways to do this but meh, it works mostly for me. On the plus side, it's really helpful for character development as you can use the two characters to interact with each other, building personality and arcs.
I usually start with a super plain normal caracter with a super normal- northing extraordinary- backround. And a very simple design. Then I usually pic a few random caracter traits (unless I already know what I want them to be) and just kinda build on to that. And then I keep building and changing until I have something im pleased with. I usually work with both the flaws, and the positives at the same time, so it remains as balanced as I want it to be. Another really great tip is to let other People see what you have created, and get the wiew of someone Else :) (Sorry for bad grammar😅)
@@Junaetzia I give my characters so many flaws that they end up being Mary Sue-ish characters anyway, because everything bad happens to them and all bad things in their universe happens solely because they're just so flawed.
Mary Sues are good when they are good. Like Jotaro or Deku. Jotaro is powerful like god damn he can stop time and almost defeated Pucci but he knew that he needed to save Jolyne so he sacrificed himself. Deku has a powerful quirk, but he breaks bones so...yeah.
And not everything revolves around Deku. They have entire strings if episodes about Todoroki, and Iida, and other characters who slip my mind. It happens so much I sometimes forget Deku us the main character. But what's also great is yeah, Deku's super powerful, but so are the rest of Class 1-A. Sometimes really powerful characters are done really well.
BRUH Y THE SPOILERS MAN I DIDNT KNOW JOTARO WAS GONNA DIE IM ONLY 9 EPISODES INTO GOLDEN WIND :( I FINISHED DIAMONDS R UNBREAKABLE WITH MY MOM LIKE YESTERDAY (idk she says she thinks jojo is cool) besides that i agree, its funny since you mentioned my 2 favourite animes ever
Art confession(it's late i know):i always kinda feel like I'll never get better, and i want to change my art stly but i like my current one.Any tips to help me?
Quick little thing here.Once my mom did this drawing, and she had me look at it.I gave her CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, and said that one of the arms wasn't properly proportioned, and I tried to show her how it looked, and how it should be and she got mad at me,saying she wouldnt show me her art ever again and that I was being rude.
I absolutely agree with the first point. Conversely I disagree with you Ping. Artists NEED to be able to take criticism, I have a very similar story as the comment and agree with it. Besides if artists aren't able to adapt, change, experiment. Then well, they will go absolutely no where as an artist. I know I'm not at a professional level yet and its precisely because of that, that I want and need criticism EVEN if it hurts!
What I like to do to avoid Mary Sue’s is a simple OC pattern that makes creating an OC so much fun in my opinion 1. Make a visual (just draw them lol) 2. First name, last name, and age 3. backstory (adjust the story as you create) 4. Good personality traits 5. Flaws (my rule is, have four or more flaws) 6. Choose anything else (optional) (powers, weight, languages they speak, etc) I do every single step on a rule so that I don’t either end up with a copy of another OC, or end up with a Mary Sue ._. I like to think organized, so maybe this isn’t for you. But I still hope this’ll help some people!
I'm big on criticism! I remember one day I tried to give my friend at the time some and she didn't listen to me for 4 years. I stopped trying and when she asked for help sadly I didn't do much because all she did was get mad. So over the 4 years maybe more. She didn't improve and I did. Her art style and everything never really changed and that's bad...I took any criticism I could and yea it hurt a bit. But I turned out to be a good artist. Depends on the person who says it. If you are so stubborn to a part where you can't improve than, you are the problem. I get some people can get mean but you have to put your part into if you are serious. Another guy I knew at the time and who really made me mad. ASKED for it multiple times and knew I am a good artist and got mad at me when I tried to help. He tried to use my viewpoint against me and said "God would like you to help" and I did and he was an asshole everything. Well God also said you don't have to help people who are ungrateful as well. To be honest, I could have just left him alone, I flipped on him one day and he took a screenshot of our conversation. Even acted like the victim. He messaged me after a year and tried to play the victim card. I have no idea what happened to him now but I was still salty after a year. He let people attack me for being this "horrible" person. Haha! I even forgot his name but I tried to say sorry and he left me on reading. He only messaged me back after trying to get something from me. I guess his "friends" didn't want to talk to him anymore. Criticism just depends. If you are stubborn and can't improve on your own well and can't accept someone who can help you when you asked or they are trying to help you so you don't have to worry about it later. I mean come on...its different types of things you can do to improve and some people are nice. Just tell the person what they are doing is right then tell them what's wrong.
I hate it when I ask someone to critique my drawings but they don't and just say "it looks good" because I need to be able to see what I need to work on so I can do something different next time, so then I have to go to my brother [who is 100x times better than me and could do way more detailed drawings when he was younger than I am now] but he's really bias with my drawings so instead of pointing out area's I could do better in he tells me to just throw it away =~=
when you ask someone to compliment it: well..its good but..*insert mean stuff* when you ask someone to say what they DONT like: awww..but its so good!-
Finished watching this and I have so many stories, but I'll keep them short. I roleplay with 1 to 3 friends of mine. We had to stop my character(s) storyline because of a falling-out with this "friend" of ours. We use our own characters and I have about 4-5 main characters and they're all pretty simple. Lemme get into the grittiness of this friend however: *She takes inspiration from us. Allot.* This was the most recent scandal she got into. It happened in June and she wanted to make a setting for her own RP. She however, dragged me into it. While I complied, I did all of the work for it, ran it by her and the biggest note I said was "Credit me if you plan on using this." But... She didn't. She also told me to not tell our other friends about this, but I told them anyway and we had to lecture her. Fast forward to now. She made a character for a sequel to our RP I mentioned above. When my friend's friend showed it to me, I was beyond unimpressed. She put contradicting arguments and points, and took so much from not just one of our characters but to us in real-life. Here are examples: -Her character, MK, was going to have blue streaks in her hair -She would have a blank/lackadaisical expression -She would have some sort of companion -She would not have any memories of anyone in the cast The first point, involves the appearance, and that appearance was taken from *me* because I actually have partial blue hair Second, my characters, Evie and Romantica have blank expressions. My friend, made his character have no expression as it would hinder her role in the RP. The third... I'll be blunt: My character(s) have companions to accompany them. The fourth takes inspiration from the friend I mentioned in the 2nd point. His character won't have any memory of anyone in the sequel due to sleeping and hibernation. Makes sense right? It doesn't make sense, when our "friend" suddenly decides to do the same thing in a way that's like "Oh she doesn't ReMeMbEr AnYoNe" Shouldn't your character have SOME progress to losing their memories or identity? Whew, this took too long, but the moral is that, it's ok to be inspired, but please don't make it seem like you're taking away the artistic liberty away from others.
Idk if u read comments, but what’s ur opinion on Dinosaur, Dragon or Lizard O.C.s? You can put your answer in the reply of this comments. Also does OCs with God-like powers (destroy Multiverses) considered Mary Sues? It probably is
For figure drawing that can be really hard to find people who appreciate the human figure in non sexual ways who aren't also artists in that field. I'd suggest the same thing Flying Pings did, find a group of people who also do figure drawing either in real life (there are life drawing sessions all over, ask for opinions from other artists who go! though be polite, and be prepared that not everyone's gonna wanna talk with you) and online spaces that are already cultivated toward that sort of attitude. For people in your life though, you could always ask and preface the art being "yeah I know they're naked, but if you're wiling to look at it could you focus on x quality when making comment?" some people will ignore this and make it awkward, I'm sad to say that's impossible to avoid, but good people will listen and try to be helpful. It's not really my area, but I know my life drawing teacher frequents pinterest quite a bit and there seems to be a community for it on there- it's a good a place as any to start!
My art confession, I hate drawing digitally. I've kept drawing digitally but all i end up with is a headache whereas with traditional art all that is needed is a pencil, a piece of paper, and an ereaser. plus it just falls naturally into my hands and the flow of the pencil just sits well with me. Though i will admit that i want to be better at drawing digitally and i would love reccomendations for a drawing tablet and whatever you should use for digital art.
Flying pings, i don't usually watch your videos. However, whenever i come back and watch one, at the end of the video i come to the same conclusion everytime. You. Are. SO! WHOLESOME!!! Your videos are always so enjoyable, sweet and fun to watch. I watch a lot of youtubers so sometimes i forget this channel exist but then whenever i rediscover it i always just feel so happy at the end of your videos. Your channel is just so wholesome ^^ i hope you are aware of this and that i really enjoy your videos a lot XD
Got any creative ideas for replying to positive feedback? When someone comments something like "I love your art" or "Your art is so good" I just always reply with thank you but I would like to tell them more. Something that is not only a simple "thank you so much". Does anyone have any ideas?
I normally upload my tradition art of my character when i'm too lazy to draw them digitally, since it takes a long while to draw. (I'm kinda busy remaking my first oc story and a story for three of my oc)
My friends always tells me what is bad. I slowly stopped. Then i suddenly began again. I get it. I can only draw digital. I never see a traditional art featured. I never know what to draw when I want to. Never dealt with it. My friends character. I try and have my characters to do something but something happens to theres so i can't do anything! I hate a Mary Sue! One of my friends roleplays as one and I had to confront them. They got made at me. Love your art Pings!
I agree with the one about motivation. I am always the most motivated to draw when doing something else, such as homework, schoolwork, other hobbies, trying to sleep etc. while when I do draw my motivation just goes *poof * and I get art block.
My friend ALWASE asks ‘can you give me cons, please only cons no pros’ she says that ALL THE TIME so I keep telling her, ‘most of you characters look the same with fishnet stalkings and oversized sweaters with one eye covered with the hair. I tell her to maybe try drawing 2 eyes and not one, and the to try drawing hands. But she ALWAYS ATTACKS, she has sort of a sad childhood so she ALWAYS brings it up and says ‘well, ...you know... (sad stuff about her).......’ and I’m like ‘Jesus Christ I can’t even say things any more!’
oh. my. god- my mom does that- just a bit..differently- anytime we accidentally offend her or say something as a joke- she brings up, "MY MOTHER? SHE HATED ME. SO DONT. GIVE ME SH*T." but for that drawing 2 eyes- i can see why they couldnt lol- im pretty bad at art but the eyes are now the hardest for me..i have to make sure they are in the same shape and stuff- (and no- i dont do dat anatomy stuff or something, since it usually makes my art look worse and the head looks....u g l y .)
Opinion on 1: You should give criticism wiether they want it or not. You should give positives too but criticism is needed or almost every artist would suck. You need a balance between negative and positive. Opinion on 2: Digital art is better than traditional art. Digital art always looks nicer. It's not that you can't personally prefer traditional art but you have to acknowledge things made with modern technology will be better.
oof ooof ooooooof, the OC copy-cats is always a drag, but there's not much you can do about it. That's just how some people work, most people grow out of it though. It's just one of those things you gotta grow a thick skin to. If you do do this though, here's my general rule of thumb: don't post them. Sometimes it can be a great learning tool and fun way to explore, but you don't want to end up hurting someone you likely admire in the process. Better yet, if you love a character someone made, sometimes its better to just draw fanart of them instead of trying to make them your own.
For the first one, I agree. I'm in a discord server, and I'm currently trying to improve upon facial anatomy and facial structure (which is honestly a rocky road due to my starting out with art being Pokemon, oh god I wish I'd made a different choice in my life) and I didn't ask for critique on the next art I posted. Then the head of the server came in and started telling me some helpful and some unhelpful critique (helpful was the face size and stuff to do with that, unhelpful was stuff like "the hand is too small" or "the background is boring", which I'll get on to when I finish with facial studies). It killed my motivation for drawing an art piece that was serious for a few days. I'm back on track now, though, and just hoping to get some sort of reward. I didn't get any positive feedback on it either, all I get is 'it looks nice' or 'cute'. For the second one, I don't use amino so idrk. For the third, I kind of agree, until I don't know what I want to draw. For the forth, again, i have no idea what to say since I'm not exactly up to that stage of my anatomical studies yet. For the fifth, I have to agree. I have my own OCs that I create myself, and don't want someone to re-colour them. For the sixth, I kind of agree, kind of don't. I think it's okay as a base-level artist to make a mary-sue, but experienced artists should try and not do it. (I'm sorry for my own anecdote on the first one, I was proud of the art and then that pride got sapped out when the critique flooded in...)
-Honestly, I enjoy creating Mary Sue characters. I know they are hated but they're also kind of fun to mess around with. -I agree that criticism shouldn't be given if it isn't asked for. Also, please don't give criticism like, "it sucks" or "do better". It sounds obvious but I can't even name all the times that this has happened. Instead, try mentioning one place that needs improvement (in a nice way, not rudely) and how it can be improved.
The only mary sue character that I like is Mad Munchkin's OC Mary Sue, who's mary sue persona is played off as a joke, and was created for a video just like this to show off how annoying they are. Any video with her is hilarious. Jasper Pie: How you do that?! Mary Sue: BECAUSE I'M MARY SUE!!
1. i think critic is CRUICIAL for artists. wiether you want to hear it or not then you wont grow as an artist and think you’re art will look good then when someone who isnt as nice will just flat out tell you its trash. i get people are sensitive nowadays. but if its valid like “you should work on anatomy.” or “maybe try less harsh colors.” take every form and use it to grow. it helps even if it might hurt your feelings. then you’ll look back when uou start comparing yourself to others and be like “why didnt anyone tell me this was bad!!” so yea critic is crucial wither its asked for or not especially if youre on a public forum. you’re gonna get it regardless 2. i don’t discriminate im actually jealous of traditional artists i LOVE traditional pieces and they’re so amazing one of my fave traditional artists is reyhansartwork on instagram 3. n/a 4. honestly enjoy doing your figures and if they ask you to draw gross stuff flat out say no. and make it clear youre an artist and doing figure studies??? idk about that one 5.i also hate when people get “inspired” by my ocs and concepts, i have a friend who does that and it’s annoying. i work VERY hard on my character concepts and world building. i dont want someone taking it and trying to make it fit in their concepts. character design and world building are my passions so i take it very seriously 6. i also hate mary sues. i dont mind them much as beginner characters for like kids and people who are new to character creation but man rping with those kids of characters are so annoying and boring and frustrating. i actually laugh at mary sues but theyre stepping stones people will learn and grow from them and i agree to not be mean to them about it especially since you dont know whom you’re attacking and if their uour friend give them advice on how to make better characters ❤️❤️❤️🤍🤍🖤🖤🖤
I think the name for this character type is Drama Sue, Tragic Sue or Drama Lama(as I know it from RPGS). We had one, that was sold by their parents as a little baby to a academy of evil mages that summon demons, ghosts and torture people. He never got lucky or laughed, everything was miserable and everyone had to pity party the character or their other one, a knight of a goddess, forced by the circumstances of the world to make a contract with a demon and buy his freedom and getting nearly killed in the process of being reformed old to throw the next pity party on this character...
On the Mary Sue thing, here's a real controversial opinion: Just let people have fun. TLDR cause this got rather long: Let people have fun in what they make and consume, not everyone has the same taste as you, not every story or character has to cater to you. What people get out of stories/characters is different too, there's nothing wrong with enjoying a power fantasy, or just a shitpost of a character, or a deep intricate character driven story, or anything under the sun. They all have value and entertainment in their own way. Critique can be valuable but it's fine to discount it if it doesn't help your art go in the direction you want it to. Saying something that is written To Be a power fantasy is bad Because it's a power fantasy is bad critique and you can wholesale ignore it. If you don't like something move along and find something you do, not everyone wants or appreciates your critique. Seriously, I'm so tired of this "critique". What's wrong with making a character for fun? for the excitement? for the entertainment value? For the power fantasy? Just to explore? Oh but it doesn't fit my totally 100% logical objective check boxes for what "good art" and "good character" is, and everyone needs to know! Fuck off. That's so bland. Some of the most fun creative ideas come out of that freedom. I hate seeing new artist (and hell, even experienced artists) get shut down and second guess their ideas 'cause of trying to avoid their OC being a "mary sue". Things are aloud to be fun and good without being ""deep""" and ""technically excellent"". I feel like people are so caught up in trying to be original, and jam this objective lense into art where it's just never gonna fit. Art and writing is inherently subjective, and trying to fit it all into this box of all characters have to be round three dimensional realistic portrayals of the human condition with no extraneous qualities what so ever! You can't have everything go their way! They can't just be based off one character trait! etc etc. it's so limiting and stupid. Can you imagine if we sat down any tried to explain bugs bunny like that? Or the road runner? Or classic literature? "Beowulf is a total marry sue and is there for trash. How is it the road runner has everything go its way? Totally unrealistic! What a bad show!" But seriously though, what's wrong with making a Mary Sue? Writing a power fantasy? Using your OC as an outlet for exploring dark plots and themes? And please site something that isn't "I don't personally enjoy those things". Guess what! It doesn't have to be for you! There are other people in this world who can and do find value and enjoyment in those things! "Oh but it's not what classically makes a good character because of x writing rule" wanna hear a secret? A fun little writing tip? All those rules are total BS. They're guidelines at best and the best characters ever made break like half of 'em. Cause it's all stuff we made up to try and understand why we like other stuff we made up. And we get it wrong all the time. New stuff get's made that throws all our theories out of wack. The best thing you can do? Have fun! Go crazy! Break some rules! Write something you wanna read, or a draw what you'd love to see and it will always have an audience that loves it! 'Cause that's the grand secret. What's "good" isn't always entertaining. Whats "good" isn't always beloved. Whats "good" isn't always good art. Classic literature features some of the most Mary Sues who ever Sued. Tropes and cliches are tropes and cliches for a reason, 'cause people enjoy them! Your aloud to like the media you make and consume, even if it's not perfect by critical standards. It's supposed to be fun! And entertaining! And sometime that means it's not gonna be some grand masterpiece, some next Godfather or Mona Lisa. And that's fine! Sometimes critique seems to forget that. People will "critique" you for this sure, but you don't have to take it if you like what you've done. That's true even of valid critique, sometime the advise you get just isn't something that'll help your art grow in the direction you want it to go. Thank them and tell them as such. Every critique is ultimately just a subjective expression of that persons tastes, and what you take from those critiques is entirely up to you. I guess I'm just trying to say have confidence in your artistic voice and taste! It great to experiment! To go weird and wild and out there! Even if not everyone's gonna like that. And leave people be if they make a thing you personally don't like, everyone has their own taste in what they're looking to get out of art, let them have it. Only give critique when it's asked for, and when it is, make sure it's relevant to what the persons actually trying to achieve.
Reminder: Ocs don't have to have a mental illness to be a good character!!! I see way too much people giving their ocs mental illnesses just because they want them to be better, and it makes some people believe that having depression is something cool people have (heck, even I thought that when I was 12, and faked having depression)
People don't like to be critic because most people have no idea how to critic correctly. Heres a simple guide: 1. Say what they did good on their art. around 2-3 compliments should be good 2. Now critic them. Don't be stupid harsh on them, and be sure to keep their age to mind when you do critic them. 3. Profit. They get critics, and you don't look bad for it As an artist myself, I hate it when people can't stand to receive critics. As an artist you should improve every way you can, so saying you don't want to be criticised is closed minded. However that's not to say some people don't go overboard with how they critic. Just remember, 2-3 nice things, then the critics, and try to be as friendly as possible, it encourages the artist more.
Uh I have a confession to make. I personally really like Mary Sues...well I like making them, I know Mary Sues are just really bad characters, but I really think it’s fun to make them. Just to make these perfect characters that always win, it’s fun, I like making them. Of course I’d never show them to anyone, but I enjoy making them, because it’s nice fun.
Confection I get really mad when people aren't original because sometimes one person makes a piece of art then someone copies of of it then people keep doing unoriginal drawings I like when people are original making there own characters!!! Its way more cool in my opinion when people are original It means your not lazy and copying instead your being creative this problem also bothers me in gacha life videos.
Hmm it’s contextual really. If it’s someone just having fun (Ex, beginners drawing their ocs that is overpowered and lovable just for their own fun) that’s fine but if you’re talking about like a serious novel/game/show/book/movie and the character is a Mary Sue then I see the issue.
Okay but critiques aren't bad, that's what 99% of people get wrong. A critique is helping someone get better, you point out both good and bad,not just bad, If you're only turning to art as a hobby then yeah, who cares but if you wanna take art seriously then critiques should be encouraged,an artist should take them so they can get into a good school for artists and later get a job doing art.
Oh i just wanted to say that i really REALLY hate that “love cures it all” trope. And by that I mean, for example; a character that had abusive parents or just a really bad life and bc of that they ended up having a mental disorder (such as depression, anxiety, PTSD) and the >out of thing air< when they find someone that loves them or something they are INSTANTLY cured. I mean, I know that love and support can help immensely with mental disorders- but completely cure them? Hm i think not.
I do get that you dont want an oC copied and if it is really obvious i get iT but people sometimes have simular ideas so if an oC from Someone is simular to yours doesnt mean that they copied Some people just like the same things and same aesthetics and then simular oCs can happen
I don’t agree with not giving people criticism if they didn’t ask for it. Sure, telling someone something is wrong with their art will hurt their feelings, but it should also motivate them to improve. If people don’t give them criticism, they don’t ask for it, or if they are given criticism and they ignore it and they continue to be unwilling to improve, it will prove to be a hinderance on their art and keep them from reaching their full potential. Some people can’t see the flaws in their own art and think it looks fine unless it’s pointed out to them. Im one of these people and having people criticize my work has helped me to gradually make changes for the better even if I don’t always like hearing that my art isn’t the best it can be. Having an outside perspective tell them what they can work on and what they can fix, especially if it’s done POLITELY and CONSTRUCTIVELY, can really be of help to them. Just facts, man. Sometimes you have to put your feelings aside. Even professional artists receive criticism from their bosses on things they should fix so why shouldn’t you and others be open to accepting criticism? Also it’s not cool to censor other people’s criticisms just because you don’t like hearing it.
I made my friend and me a spider-sona,Mine was in a position she would’ve taken if she had to jump onto the side of a building to dodge a blast or something.I was SO proud I thought I did amazing! I drew by hand too.I showed my dad because he’s the one my sister and I got our Art genes from.He loved it but then he said that there was one BIG problem. He said that MY oc was in a too unrealistic position. Then he asked me if ‘I’ could make that position.I said Nevermind and walked back to my room.I wanted to cry and my heart felt heavy so I lied down in my bed and fell asleep early.I was kinda in a bad mood the next day and Avoided him,It was childish yes but What he said hurt me.I was also having communication problems with my family and I didn’t think I could talk to them without being judged or made fun of.Thats when I decided to stop drawing and just play on my phone.I did color in the Spider-sonas and when I went to show my dad again he complained about the same thing. It took me 2-3 weeks to color in my persona because she had rainbow patches and had glowing gloves.I frustrated me how even after all this time he STILL was caught up on that same stupid detail.
My OC got called an Mary Sue because she was perfect. When she was supposed to be that way. The story does not revolve around her tho for she is not the main character. Her being perfect and unbeatable is part of the story. Her creator made her that way in story. UwU
Perfect characters are supposed to be bad, but they can be done in a good way. Have you watched Saitama? Yes, he's overpowered. But nobody recognizes him. Other than his student. Genos. Idk who the girl is, but that black haired girl from Oshiete Galko Chan, she's so good in every way, yet the creator somehow made her relatable. Just saying my opinion :)
A lot of people miss the real point of a Mary Sue. A Mary Sue isn't bad because she is "perfect" the issue is when the main character of the story can just bend the rules of the universe to their will. There's no tension or adversity in a story like that. Please take criticism lightly if the person can't tell you why something is bad.
never understood why female fan character creators write down in their Bio sheet that they're strong and independent but, then make the cower behind 2 male characters when they draw them.
I personally have a Larry-sue As long as your Oc isn’t used In stuff like role play (people do That) or stuff like that I think it’s Fine I mean doesn’t hurt. But then Again if all you do is stuff with that Character(illustrations, memes, and Just plain animations) it could hurt How you draw sense you stick with One type of character and aren’t ready For anything else
Ever since I knew one of my characters are a Mary Sue, for some reason, I had an idea to make her the villain and the original villainess will be the main character.
Write down on each one "anatomy practice" so they don't go "yer drawing porn" It is HIGHLY important. You can section off things too, don't feel odd about being judged. You will feel awkward, but it will feel normal. Also keep structure lines up or similar things. Don't draw extreme detail. Try to draw multiple forms per sheet.
I think it’s ok to criticize art even if it’s not asked for if you show them the great things about their drawing too. Like “OMG tis drawing is amazing! You’ve improved on the arms! The hair looks a little like play dough, so you will probably want to add a little separation in the hair, but the colors and outfit are great, especially for this character! I’m super excited to see your next piece” I do think you have to be careful with criticism that isn’t asked for, and show that you see the great things about their art, and that the less good things aren’t the only things noticed.
Well said! Though I personally think it’s always best to wait for someone to ask for your opinion. Nothing ruins a compliment more than something negative mixed in. Like if someone told you “Your eyes are so beautiful! But your hair could use some work”. If I asked someone about their opinion on my look, great! But unsolicited advice can be taken the wrong way sometimes despite good intentions.
I have a character that is a god mid demon, she created everything that exist and will exist in the whole existence, so how I make her ability’s without making her Mary Sue?
She could be a drunkard or maybe a lazy god-demon ? Maybe something like that For One of my OC (He didn't create anything but still) I made him a drunkard, sometime lazy - he uses his powers to grab things... When he could just stand up- He also loooves money and even in a Bad situation he'll add it to the list of the potions and heal you'll have to pay, He's a pervert - by noticing some things, so only when it Comes to talk about perverted things -, but is a bit hypocrit about it, because he hates perverts - the ones who will look at someone like they're kinky meat, or when it comes to sexual harrassment. By adding some limits to the power and some bad points about an OC's, you can avoid Mary Sue's Trap. And your OC become spicy. PS : Sorry for my english, the french autocorrect didn't help me-
Chacha C&P Thank u for the tips! I was thinking on the way that the orientals made the gods, like, they’re all full of fails XD Also ur English or really good!
6:36 ??? I don't know the exact situation but you have to recognize what is inspired and what is traced. And most importantly if someone wants to make art inspired by your drawings THEY DON'T FUCKING HAVE TO ASK YOU TO. You can inspire from Lady Gaga even if you want and she won't sue you. It might slightly hurt you if someone for example used very similar color palette as you but he/she can do that.
Mary Sue characters can be done well, believe it or not. There’s a short 3 episode animation here on TH-cam called Daystone and the animator calls the main character a Mary Sue, though it’s done in a fun way.
When you were talking about critiques and yeah, you're right that if they didnt ask for critique dont give them, but please, sometimes artist dont improve because they dont get critism and when you say they can kill the motivation of the artist and you said 'When they say its bad and horrible' that aint critique, thats just being a total jerk
I honestly don't mind "Mary-sues." My reason is that I, as an artist, have been able to go back and redesign my mary sues. I take them apart and build them back up with what they already had. Give them limitations. BUT I wouldn't be able to do this with confidence if I had not designed those characters where nothing went wrong or they were very OP, because needed that groundwork for something better later. Or in my opinion, that becomes better. If someone tells me that my character is still mary sue then I know that maybe I made something seem a little too strong or something. Another thing is the fashion that decides what a mary sue is? Does that really make sense? Someone might think wearing all black is edgy, but honestly, if you think your character would wear all black all the time. That is fine! Because people actually do that, some people even have their own uniforms that they wear sometimes. And if the clothes are all rainbow, more power to them, they have confidence. I'll stop before this get's ranty.
When it comes to Mary Sue characters, they aren't the greatest. But sometimes they just work in stories. Mostly comedies, and rarely anything else. Take One Punch Man for example. Saitama kills ANYTHING with 1 punch. Mary Sue, yet it works. Now somebody with a dark background can also work. Like Atsushi from Bungo Stray Dogs. Abandoned and abused by an orphanage. It works with his charatcer amd gives him more depth. Now a lot of the time, there are just terrible characters. Like the main character of Stuck in Another World With My Smartphone. The main character is a terrible protagonist who can do whatever he likes and nobody bats an eye. In my opinion, if you want an op main charatcer, go for it. But still have limits. Give them goals where they get more powerful. Like how weak main characters become stronger over time. If you want a dark past, go ahead. But make it work with their character. But also focus around side characters like they are main characters. Thank you for coming to mt TED Talk
While that is true, the guy can use any magic, knows everything do to his phone, has a harem, and tons more. So I think he still stands as a good example of a Mary Sue
@@carito3293 I think we're talking about 2 completely different characters here bcos one punch man can't do magic and he for sure does not know anything about electronics.
If i be honest i do have mary sue oc and i redesign her from top to bottom now she is just a single mom on a date and had a daughter from previous husband-
I don't like it when people go into my old characters and scream mary sue at me Like its an old character that I never use, please don't judge me by a character that is 4 years old and is never discussed ever Plus don't harass me for my edgy characters I use them as a way to vent about my life, they are that way for a reason and thats why they dont get featured in their own stories or in my other ocs story
Genuinely, I don't have a problem at all with Marry Sues... Of course if you want to make a story with that character... It wont be too good because for a character to be good in a story needs development and a Marry Sue is already perfect soooo
look, on the first one I feel that you should take criticism whenever you can get it, and not shy away from it. criticism is not a bad thing! it's one of the best things I can get as a beginner artist and if you can't handle criticism I'm afraid you won't get that far as an artist. and learn from your mistakes, it just really annoys me when people complain about getting criticism. criticism isn't there to make you feel unmotivated.
My parents dont really support my decision to draw anime. My mom actually Hates it. I constantly hear "Why dont you try something else?" weelllllll... Im not good at realistic stuff. idk, my mom does help me with it sometimes though. Every time i show my mom my art work she just blows it off and sighs, LOL. sorry for the small rant :3
Yeah at this Time i have to Deal with a Mary sue fangirl(thats even worst than a Mary sue oc) on Instagram. So im fangirl of Talon and ship him with One of my ocs (from Inspector Gadget and Please don't hate me for this I know some People don't like fangirls) and this Mary sue is a fangirl of him too. Shes alywas Saying Talon is hers and shes gonna kill everyone who trys to steal him from her. I ignored her until she posted a Comment under my picture in Instagram saying " yes hes my Love" after that i told her My opinion that she can't own Talon and i was not even rude to her but she was to me then i Blocked her. I mean i don't understand her a little bit i have Friends that are Talon Fangirls too and we Support each other and are nice to each other.(and sorry for Grammar Fails im German)
What I don't like is what my bestfriend does, she has some ocs that are cool but for one of hers, she really took MY oc, if she changes the eyes colors it's exaclty mine (I don't know if it's clear because I'm not very good in english ;-;)

I hate how, for beginners in OC making, there’s three types of characters; the bubbly doormat, the emotionless one, and the badass. How to avoid this; write personality traits on popsicle sticks and draw four. Design the character around those four sticks. You can create some very intriguing personalities that way.
Oooh that sounds like fun! Challenge accepted >:D
3 of the characters look like those 3 things, but looks deceive
They have more personality than what they look like
@@artsyyy_ Tell me how it goes.
I like your idea, but some sticks might clash with others
*My character was a mary sue until I relised she was one*

I still don’t understand what a “Mary sue” character is.. ;-;
Honestly, Mary Sues are a good thing.
The most important thing when making ocs is to have fun
They're aren't good in Role plays though
Mary Sues help you know it's a mistake and too fix it, but in an RP it's terrible.
Yep, just have fun with it. Unless you're pitching it to a company.
Someone made a character for me to use in my series and someone took that exact Oc and made it “their own”
I mean "IF" it was a gacha life oc
Well.. i don't recommend using gacha life for making ocs cos:
1. It limits your creativity
2. There is a very high chance you do make an oc that is simulair to many many others gacha life ocs and maybe even the exact same
Michiko_ yeah :v
[except it wasn’t a gacha oc, it was on my drawing account]
Michiko_ none of my OCs I have are made from gacha they were drawn and I just had to switch them to gacha but will draw them how I originally designed them.
That's crap mate
I use gacha sometimes for ideas for ocs

Tbh comin from someone who started traditional and still drawing in it. Digital art is much more comfortable and affordable. I draw in both and digital art feels faster and more fluid to draw, it's also far easier to post than traditional art as I have horrible lighting in my home. It's easier to sell too as you aren't shipping an actual item so it's a very wanted item. I really enjoy traditional art though!
Mmmm I love this series.
Spill the tea sis 🍵 xD
Anyways, sorry ya gotta read all this to whoever actually reads all of this :)

my necks are too s m a l l .
Basically just don't over do it and remember there are other characters in the story ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
(sorry for the rant)
missy exactly!!! i agree!
Also, to stump your "They're strong to be the protagonist", Diary of a Wimpy Kid, any Goosebumps, Misery, Psycho, Moby Dick, Hamlet, and many more
This may be a bad way to avoid it but the main plot to most of my characters revolve around 3 pairs of OCS.
When you started drawing the girl I screamed cause like ginger hair, freckles and pale skin. I am getting represented x3
Thats her lmao

amber
if you’re scared of making a Mary Sue, you’re probably not going to make a Mary Sue.
It's alright to make Mary sues just don't use it in rps
Yeah, I think I give my characters too many flaws.
Another really great tip is to let other People see what you have created, and get the wiew of someone Else :)
(Sorry for bad grammar😅)

Art confession(it's late i know):i always kinda feel like I'll never get better, and i want to change my art stly but i like my current one.Any tips to help me?
Quick little thing here.Once my mom did this drawing, and she had me look at it.I gave her CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, and said that one of the arms wasn't properly proportioned, and I tried to show her how it looked, and how it should be and she got mad at me,saying she wouldnt show me her art ever again and that I was being rude.
did she specifically ask for constructive criticism? were you only pointing out the negative?
@@crocodileswearhats She did ask for my opinion on it and no,I didn't just point out the negative,I pointed out some positives too.
What I like to do to avoid Mary Sue’s is a simple OC pattern that makes creating an OC so much fun in my opinion
1. Make a visual (just draw them lol)
2. First name, last name, and age
3. backstory (adjust the story as you create)
4. Good personality traits
5. Flaws (my rule is, have four or more flaws)
6. Choose anything else (optional) (powers, weight, languages they speak, etc)
I do every single step on a rule so that I don’t either end up with a copy of another OC, or end up with a Mary Sue ._.
Just tell the person what they are doing is right then tell them what's wrong.
id punch him in da f*cking face if i met someone like him ^-^
I hate it when I ask someone to critique my drawings but they don't and just say "it looks good" because I need to be able to see what I need to work on so I can do something different next time, so then I have to go to my brother [who is 100x times better than me and could do way more detailed drawings when he was younger than I am now] but he's really bias with my drawings so instead of pointing out area's I could do better in he tells me to just throw it away =~=
when you ask someone to compliment it: well..its good but..*insert mean stuff*
when you ask someone to say what they DONT like: awww..but its so good!-
Finished watching this and I have so many stories, but I'll keep them short.
I roleplay with 1 to 3 friends of mine. We had to stop my character(s) storyline because of a falling-out with this "friend" of ours. We use our own characters and I have about 4-5 main characters and they're all pretty simple.
Lemme get into the grittiness of this friend however:
*She takes inspiration from us. Allot.*
This was the most recent scandal she got into.
Here are examples:
-Her character, MK, was going to have blue streaks in her hair
-She would have a blank/lackadaisical expression
-She would have some sort of companion
-She would not have any memories of anyone in the cast
The first point, involves the appearance, and that appearance was taken from *me* because I actually have partial blue hair
Second, my characters, Evie and Romantica have blank expressions.
It doesn't make sense, when our "friend" suddenly decides to do the same thing in a way that's like "Oh she doesn't ReMeMbEr AnYoNe"
Shouldn't your character have SOME progress to losing their memories or identity?
Whew, this took too long, but the moral is that, it's ok to be inspired, but please don't make it seem like you're taking away the artistic liberty away from others.
o jeez-
Idk if u read comments, but what’s ur opinion on Dinosaur, Dragon or Lizard O.C.s? You can put your answer in the reply of this comments.
Also does OCs with God-like powers (destroy Multiverses) considered Mary Sues? It probably is
I think having god like abilities is fine, as long as the character is flawed and goes through actual struggles.
If you're looking for a good tablet, I would recommend Wacom Intuos
Digital art takes some time to get used to, but you'll get the hang of it

Flying pings, i don't usually watch your videos. However, whenever i come back and watch one, at the end of the video i come to the same conclusion everytime. You. Are. SO! WHOLESOME!!! Your videos are always so enjoyable, sweet and fun to watch. I watch a lot of youtubers so sometimes i forget this channel exist but then whenever i rediscover it i always just feel so happy at the end of your videos. Your channel is just so wholesome ^^ i hope you are aware of this and that i really enjoy your videos a lot XD

When i show someone my drawing the first thing they notice is the naked body -_-x
Love your art!! Keep it up ❤️
Got any creative ideas for replying to positive feedback?
When someone comments something like "I love your art" or "Your art is so good" I just always reply with thank you but I would like to tell them more. Something that is not only a simple "thank you so much". Does anyone have any ideas?
Complement their own stuff if they have anything on their profile
I like how positive you are :D
My friend ALWASE asks ‘can you give me cons, please only cons no pros’ she says that ALL THE TIME so I keep telling her, ‘most of you characters look the same with fishnet stalkings and oversized sweaters with one eye covered with the hair. I tell her to maybe try drawing 2 eyes and not one, and the to try drawing hands. But she ALWAYS ATTACKS, she has sort of a sad childhood so she ALWAYS brings it up and says ‘well, ...you know... (sad stuff about her).......’ and I’m like ‘Jesus Christ I can’t even say things any more!’
oh. my. god-
my mom does that- just a bit..differently- anytime we accidentally offend her or say something as a joke- she brings up, "MY MOTHER? SHE HATED ME. SO DONT. GIVE ME SH*T."
but for that drawing 2 eyes- i can see why they couldnt lol- im pretty bad at art but the eyes are now the hardest for me..i have to make sure they are in the same shape and stuff- (and no- i dont do dat anatomy stuff or something, since it usually makes my art look worse and the head looks....u g l y .)
Better yet, if you love a character someone made, sometimes its better to just draw fanart of them instead of trying to make them your own.
love it as always pings!
1. i think critic is CRUICIAL for artists. wiether you want to hear it or not then you wont grow as an artist and think you’re art will look good then when someone who isnt as nice will just flat out tell you its trash. i get people are sensitive nowadays. but if its valid like “you should work on anatomy.” or “maybe try less harsh colors.” take every form and use it to grow. it helps even if it might hurt your feelings. then you’ll look back when uou start comparing yourself to others and be like “why didnt anyone tell me this was bad!!” so yea critic is crucial wither its asked for or not especially if youre on a public forum. you’re gonna get it regardless
2. i don’t discriminate im actually jealous of traditional artists i LOVE traditional pieces and they’re so amazing one of my fave traditional artists is reyhansartwork on instagram
3. n/a
4. honestly enjoy doing your figures and if they ask you to draw gross stuff flat out say no. and make it clear youre an artist and doing figure studies??? idk about that one
5.i also hate when people get “inspired” by my ocs and concepts, i have a friend who does that and it’s annoying. i work VERY hard on my character concepts and world building. i dont want someone taking it and trying to make it fit in their concepts. character design and world building are my passions so i take it very seriously
6. i also hate mary sues. i dont mind them much as beginner characters for like kids and people who are new to character creation but man rping with those kids of characters are so annoying and boring and frustrating. i actually laugh at mary sues but theyre stepping stones people will learn and grow from them and i agree to not be mean to them about it especially since you dont know whom you’re attacking and if their uour friend give them advice on how to make better characters
❤️❤️❤️🤍🤍🖤🖤🖤
Honestly, I find writng purposfully OP/Mary Sue characters quite fun. Only for fun, though. Not for any stories .
Honestly I agree with the one about traditional and digital art. They usually feature lower quality digital over high quality traditional
What a bad show!"
But seriously though, what's wrong with making a Mary Sue?
Only give critique when it's asked for, and when it is, make sure it's relevant to what the persons actually trying to achieve.
icefang111 True. Mary Sues are over hated. Sometime you just want a simple story for fun.

Reminder: Ocs don't have to have a mental illness to be a good character!!!
I see way too much people giving their ocs mental illnesses just because they want them to be better, and it makes some people believe that having depression is something cool people have (heck, even I thought that when I was 12, and faked having depression)
People who critique things don’t say it’s bad.
People don't like to be critic because most people have no idea how to critic correctly.
Heres a simple guide:
1. Say what they did good on their art. around 2-3 compliments should be good
2. Now critic them. Don't be stupid harsh on them, and be sure to keep their age to mind when you do critic them.
3. Profit. They get critics, and you don't look bad for it
As an artist myself, I hate it when people can't stand to receive critics.
Of course I’d never show them to anyone, but I enjoy making them, because it’s nice fun.
ye its good when your making this for urself

I get really mad when people aren't original because sometimes one person makes a piece of art then someone copies of of it then people keep doing unoriginal drawings I like when people are original making there own characters!!!
Why do I feel that those 3 characters that theres a love triangle revolving around them- I'm sorry-
My OC got called an Mary Sue because she was perfect.
Long time no see pings!
I personally have a Larry-sue
As long as your Oc isn’t used
In stuff like role play (people do
That) or stuff like that I think it’s
Fine I mean doesn’t hurt. But then
Again if all you do is stuff with that
Character(illustrations,memes, and
Just plain animations) it could hurt
How you draw sense you stick with
One type of character and aren’t ready
For anything else
Ever since I knew one of my characters are a Mary Sue, for some reason, I had an idea to make her the villain and the original villainess will be the main character.
I'm kinda scared to try and practice figure and anatomy cause I feel like everyone in my house will end up seeing it and think it's weird ...
Write down on each one "anatomy practice" so they don't go "yer drawing porn"
It is HIGHLY important.
You can section off things too, don't feel odd about being judged.
You will feel awkward, but it will feel normal.
Also keep structure lines up or similar things.
Don't draw extreme detail.
Try to draw multiple forms per sheet.
How do you draw the way you do? im so bad at drawing
I’m super excited to see your next piece”
I do think you have to be careful with criticism that isn’t asked for, and show that you see the great things about their art, and that the less good things aren’t the only things noticed.
I like to do this, compliment, criticism, compliment
Tbh I make big heads and thin neck as well as one eye opened and one closed? Is that really so bad?
I have a character that is a god mid demon, she created everything that exist and will exist in the whole existence, so how I make her ability’s without making her Mary Sue?
She could be a drunkard or maybe a lazy god-demon ? Maybe something like that
For One of my OC (He didn't create anything but still) I made him a drunkard, sometime lazy - he uses his powers to grab things... When he could just stand up-
He also loooves money and even in a Bad situation he'll add it to the list of the potions and heal you'll have to pay,
He's a pervert - by noticing some things, so only when it Comes to talk about perverted things -, but is a bit hypocrit about it, because he hates perverts - the ones who will look at someone like they're kinky meat, or when it comes to sexual harrassment.
By adding some limits to the power and some bad points about an OC's, you can avoid Mary Sue's Trap.
And your OC become spicy.
PS : Sorry for my english, the french autocorrect didn't help me-
Chacha C&P Thank u for the tips! I was thinking on the way that the orientals made the gods, like, they’re all full of fails XD
Also ur English or really good!
You're welcome,
And thank you !
6:40 some have done it to stories
including me 😓
Mary Sue characters can be done well, believe it or not.
I honestly don't mind "Mary-sues."
My reason is that I, as an artist, have been able to go back and redesign my mary sues.
I don't think that OPM is considered a Mary Sue since he does have his own problems and goals. 🤔
While that is true, the guy can use any magic, knows everything do to his phone, has a harem, and tons more. So I think he still stands as a good example of a Mary Sue
@@carito3293
I think we're talking about 2 completely different characters here bcos one punch man can't do magic and he for sure does not know anything about electronics.
@@cutecorgiis5230 Oh I was talking about the guy in my Stuck in Another World With a Smartphone example lol

Is it really called that??
If i be honest i do have mary sue oc and i redesign her from top to bottom now she is just a single mom on a date and had a daughter from previous husband-
I don't like it when people go into my old characters and scream mary sue at me
Like its an old character that I never use, please don't judge me by a character that is 4 years old and is never discussed ever
Plus don't harass me for my edgy characters I use them as a way to vent about my life, they are that way for a reason and thats why they dont get featured in their own stories or in my other ocs story
Genuinely, I don't have a problem at all with Marry Sues... Of course if you want to make a story with that character... It wont be too good because for a character to be good in a story needs development and a Marry Sue is already perfect soooo
Artist confession:
I hate amino. Change my mind.
It sucks honestly
I literally can't change your mind. It's honestly just.. garbage
AthenaTV I just don't like how it's organized
look, on the first one I feel that you should take criticism whenever you can get it, and not shy away from it. criticism is not a bad thing! it's one of the best things I can get as a beginner artist and if you can't handle criticism I'm afraid you won't get that far as an artist. and learn from your mistakes, it just really annoys me when people complain about getting criticism. criticism isn't there to make you feel unmotivated.
When she read the one about the Mary Sues, I swear I jolted up and said:
*B E L L A S W A N F R O M T W I L I G H T*
Same here! Mary sues be OP

Honestly didn't know that you had a channle.
The second opinion SCREAMS jealousy
Honestly I hate it when people are inspired by me. Idk why but, it’s just feels like I’m being unoriginal.
My opinion is
that i need to put my opinion in the comment section
Mary Sue's like wolfy chu right
Two more do the one to the one where they annoy was going on a date but they will do it now now now now
I actually heard traditional art has more value because digital is done more and it's more expensive.
