    This was the most helpful video I have seen! I'm attempting to weave a pair of chairs using paracord, but this video really helped me understand the weaving. Thank you from a fellow Michiganger!

    I caned a chair for the first time thanks to this video! Now I'm working on the 2nd one. FYI use a spray bottle of water as you get to the ends where things get pretty tight. He doesn't mention that until the very end and I'd forgotten because I was watching start to finish again as I worked.

    It’s beautiful! Thank you…I’m about to attempt an old stool I found at a flea market.

    We have really enjoyed these videos. Do you think it is possible to do this sort of weave on a round chair? We have some round wrought iron chairs that initially had woven seats... but I suspect if may have been pre-woven.

    thank you for the video, I just finished the new england porch weave on my rocker. (one done one to go!) it looks awesome. I used smoked reed and am wondering if i should put anything on it to preserve it. the chairs will be outside. the weave i took off was painted twice, the chairs are over 100 years old.

    • @peerlessrattansuppliesllc7113
      @peerlessrattansuppliesllc7113  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Blighzy-11 You can paint it if you want to. We prefer to leave it natural, but if it's outside in the rain, it will deteriorate quickly no matter what you do.

    • @blighzy-1114
      @blighzy-1114 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ed Hammond I do not want to paint it, but would like it to last another 100 years!! I would like to leave it natural but preserve. It is on a covered porch but will get some morning sun, rain occasionally and wind.

    These are such great videos, thank you for taking the time to share your expertise with us! I assume we can buy the cane from your shop, how much do you typically need for one chair?

    • @peerlessrattansuppliesllc7113
      @peerlessrattansuppliesllc7113  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lisa Peery We sell it on our website, peerlessrattan.com Most chairs take a full hank, some chairs will need part of a second hank, also.

    Great video, thanks for posting it. I have some metal patio furniture that has plastic caning (if that's even the right term) that is starting to fail. Would this type of weaving work the same with plastic caning material? If not, can the wooden caning be used around a metal frame? It may not have the same friction qualities needed.

    • @peerlessrattansuppliesllc7113
      @peerlessrattansuppliesllc7113  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ed Murner We are not familiar with using plastic cane, but it should weave the same way as natural cane. Natural cane can be used on a metal frame, it's quite common.

    Hi Ed, Loved the video. I seem to run into a problem with the initial weaving and have redone it numerous times. I follow your directions and the top looks great but on the bottom where one side lines up in the pattern the opposite side does not. It is divided where the long runs come to. I am doing two strands with two wrapping. Am not sure what I am doing wrong. Why does it divide?

    how long usually take to do this chair? or how do you charge for this type of job?

  • @noonanphifer3083

    Great video Ed. Do you use the same staples as you use in the rush chair bottom or are they flat staples. Thanks for the help!!

    • @peerlessrattansuppliesllc7113
      @peerlessrattansuppliesllc7113  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      When weaving with wide binding cane, I use regular flat staples, same as you would use for a piece of paper.
