You are very knowledgeable, you have a tone of books and an amazing collection of best and most beautiful costume jewelry. I start collecting costume jewelry as a therapy, not knowing anything about costume jewelry, and buying as many I could just to learn about makers and read as much information online i could find about them . I used to go every estate sale, triftstore, antique for few years. I have enough pieces to keep me busy reasearch them( i am still working full time) in my spare time and once in a while go for hunting. Thank you for your work and for sharing your beautiful collection with us.

What a wonderful video. I picked up numerous Ciner pieces in the late-1980s-early-1990s in New York at Sak's Fifth Avenue. The craftsmanship is beautiful. Since then I have collected other pieces and purchased a few as gifts. I also believe it's an undervalued jewelry brand.

Oh - but re: the unsigned Ciner - I just happened across this on Worthpoint “REPRODUCTIONS Many unmarked copies of Ciner’s most popular styles have been made, especially during the 1980s. These knockoffs include designs similar to their hinged animal bracelets and Moghul-type pieces like earrings and brooches. These copycat pieces were produced in varying quality levels and can usually be distinguished as such when examined side by side with marked Ciner. Look for sloppy enameling, lack of attention to detail, and haphazard stone setting. Most jewelry leaving the Ciner factory was marked, and still is, so unsigned pieces in similar styles are likely period copies or even newer reproductions.”

I have a broken Carol Dauplaise earring. The metal ring connecting two pieces of this particular design broke. Can metal used in costume jewelry be fixed? They are my favorite and I’m sad I can’t wear them.
I address this in the video. 2nd thing to know about Ciner...Since the company used some of the same marks during different time periods, it is almost impossible to use them for dating purposes.

Yes, the bracelet I was wearing is Ciner and is black enamel and rhinestones, There are many variations of it, I have had red as well.

Sorry to say, I highly doubt it. Ciner is most often stamped right into the gold-plate. Not something that would "fall off".
