I think what makes it carry Vaati as a villain is his design. It is kinda simple and flows as some sort of counterpoint to Link, he is not really that threatening and in some other context he could be even protagonist by his design. Ganon(-dorf)'s design is almost always totally opposite of Link. Gabon is more a force of nature than personal villain towards Link while Vaati could work as more personal counterpoint and perhaps work as more nuanced character than just as a villain. Manga version kinda drove that saying how Link became stronger by buckling it up and going there swinging, while Vaati was looking for easier path. He perhaps could work as sort of Vegeta in larger canon, but that is mostly fan-theorizing.
Cia from Hyrule Warriors should've been on this list since her goal is not about conquering Hyrule. Her main motives however is to kidnap Princess Zelda so she can have Link all for herself.
@@LittleBeanGreen Astor is an interesting villain as well. Even without a bit of background, we knew he was a part of the cult that worships Calamity Ganon. I wonder if he does exist in the original timeline and whether or not he was the fortuneteller that tells King Rhoam about the Ganon’s return.

What annoys me is that Fi is supposed to be Hylia's counter to Ghirahim but then why is she so damn robotic and incomplete. She literally LACKS ARMS! Why doesn't Fi's design get changed every time we upgraded her Sword Form with the True Master Sword making her look complete?
I mean, by being the opposites, I think it makes sense Ghirahim being the one adventuring and fighting while Fi is the support for the adventurer and fighter Link.
The Prince of Hyrule (Zelda's brother) and the Magician from Zelda II: The Adventure of Link should be put in the honorable mentions . Same goes with Twinrova, Master Kohga, and Malladus.
You know, in prepping this video I was looking at those old games and there's some theorizing that the Magician was actually Ganon, so I left him off. Twin Rover and Master Kohga are more side antagonists to me: if you keep the Oracle games separate, Twin Rover don't really figure in, and if you never explore the Yiga fortress or Depths, you miss Kohga, but that doesn't really alter the trajectory of the game.
How cool would it be to bring back and fight a bunch of teamed up familiar zelda baddies like this in one game, all updated to a similar art style but still very much identifiable? Nintendo pleaaaseeee

I had a friend in elementary school who was OBSESSED with vaati. And I think it rubbed off on me, I've also always been fond of him.
All the more reason to bring him back.
Ghirahim is my favorite villain of all time.
He's the best.
I always saw Yuga as an off-brand Ghirahim. Both very full of themselves, flamboyant, jester-themed and have the same taste in earrings.
Yuga seems like an off-brand Ghirahim + Ganondorf.
