I got the job. I never asked questions at the end of the interview but I realized how that can show a lack of interest. I picked something that wasn't 100% clear on the job description and asked about that + what they describe a top performer as. These got a great reaction from the interview panel, gave me extra time to show them what I can bring to the table and I got a job offer call the next day. Thanks Cass!
I got the job!! I asked the hesitancy question at the end. The interviewer was taken aback a bit but gave me a positive response. Two hours after the interview I got the job offer. I start Feb 3rd. Please keep doing these videos, they’re very helpful.
I got a job! Your tips are so fantastic that I recommend them to others that are searching for new jobs as well! I start the new job (training) next week (Feb 3rd) and I have already watched your First Week video and the one above. Thank you!!!
Just started a new job and I find myself zoning out during the course of the day. There are moments whilst being trained whereby I can sense that I’m not retaining anything. I’m taking notes but aside from feeling overwhelmed I find myself questioning why I’m there (the passion isn’t there)
I'm in the same situation right now. Just started my job orientation yesterday. Nows my second day and I'm actually in a ridiculous situation since they expected me to do my job properly already without proper training. They didn't even explain everything to me properly on how should I do that and this.
Girl, OMG I just did my first day of training at my new job at a Luxury Retail. I had the worst anxiety in my entire life. I was doing good at my previous job which was retail as well but at my new job, I can’t even speak straight English and I almost walked out because I got overwhelmed. Thank God I am not the only one who had this experience.
Same situation for me and it's only been 4 weeks. I worked hard to get into the Advertising industry and now that I'm here every single task involves navigating an extensive spreadsheet and some form of accounting. Even when I'm taking notes I don't retain everything cause explanations are so quick and lack clarity ..or maybe I'm just slow.
@@DancingDeity nope you're not slow. People think everyone learns at the same pace and they done. I'm going through the same thing and I am going to ask them everyday until they see that I have to be trained properly
I wanted to let you know I got a job and used the question, "What is a normal work week look like?" They loved the question! Thank you for your help and the convenience to conquer my interview!
I got a job!!! I graduated back in May and was having a hard time finding a job without experience. Thankfully, I ran into your videos and just landed a job at Nationwide as a Java Developer! You’re tips on questions to ask on interviews and how to prepare for interviews were extremely helpful. Thank you!!
I got the job! I stumbled across your page and watched your videos over and over while taking notes and practicing! I was their first interview of the day, and I got the job before the day was over. Thank you a million times over. I never realized how unprepared I was going into past job interviews. I really really wanted this job, thanks to your help and insight I got it! 😭😭😭😭
I wanted to tell you that I got the job. You’re such a great guide and your tips work amazingly. I learned a lot from your videos. Keep helping people like us. Thank you 😊
Yes,yes, yes! This is great! 100% agree with all you said. I am a supervisor and help train all of my staff. This is my #1 pet peeve ~ people not taking notes and then asking the same question over and over again. I assure them that I have been at this job for 10 years and still write things down to reference them. Some get the hint and take notes others still tell me they will remember. 9 times out of 10 I end up forcing them to write the notes and then the next time they ask me the same question, even after writing it down, I have them get out their notes. Eventually the point gets across and When they come to me they are quick to let me know they have referenced their notes but still have a question....in that case I’m all yours to help you work through what you don’t understand.
I just got a job tonight! I was prepared with resume copies, my cover letter and references. I was mindful of my body language and I asked the hard question!!! Thank you! I will be putting these tips in practice for my first week as a bartender!!!!
I got a job! Thank you so much for all the great advice. Yesterday I got finally called for my first interview, and within 2 hours after leaving the office, I got a job offer. I didn't hesitate and asked the hard question, it was definitely a significant factor for my success. I'm starting on Monday!
I've always been a note taker. Very detail oriented. But when I got fired (by the sales manager) she told me over the phone in my GM's office, that my being detail oriented "can be detrimental!" I highly disagree. I had to train a girl one day and she took zero notes and just wanted to make some popcorn. They kept her. Go figure. 😳
Eh I’m a cleaner so I really don’t need to take notes unless it is something I really need to know. Cleaning is not that complicated unless the company is super picky. I still make silly mistakes at work and feel stupid about it so I guess note taking is important.

I try to exhaust every single technique to do something before asking for clarification. You are absolutely right 100%. I think that your voice sounds patronizing but everything you said is valid.
I got the job! The best tips that helped me was coming up with an honest response to what’s your biggest weakness? I was told most people come up with bs answers for that.
Thank you so much for all of your advice. I've been at home for my special needs son and was having real trouble getting a job now that he has graduated. The weekend before I had 2 interviews I watched your videos practically non stop... I ended up getting one of those jobs, then another job later that week because I hooked them on the phone interview. So nothing for months, then bam, 2 jobs. I chose the one that isn't just a salary, I really love what I'll be doing! So in the space of 2 weeks, I got a job I wanted and because of that was able to get the slightly pricier apartment I wanted as well! Moving to the city and getting a life for myself again and I swear it a lot of it was down to how I changed my interview approach! Thank you :-) - Tania
Your interviewing tips have been golden! I got the job I wanted. They loved the questions I had to ask. I had my stories prepared (they literally asked all the questions you suggested they might ask). I was prepared to the max and I got the job! I'm beyond thrilled. Thank you for these vids and tips. You're the best!
Thank you for all your videos! I applied for a full time corporate job after being a stay at home mom for 11 years! It was a 1.5 month long interview process but I got the call today. I got it!! I got the job!! And I credit you! I watched every single video you posted and used your tips. Thank you!!!!!
I NEVER ask my boss "how do you do this?" EVER! I do all the research I can on it, use my co-workers, then if I still cant find the answer, I go to my boss with everything I have done and ask for thoughts, input. almost always he/she is happy to guide me and get me out of stuckville.
I’m a question asker and realized that it is a lack of confidence. I start a new job in a couple weeks which is a huge career step up for me - I need t work on my confidence and “imposter syndrome”
Wish I heard this earlier. I was fresh out of college at my first desk job, and have asked too many questions until I got a cold shower and lecture from my boss about being more independent. 10/10 would not recommend. Take this advice, people!
Your interview tips helped me get a job in a new field that I have been trying to transition into. It wasn't even an entry level position! Thank you! Thanks for the tips here too because I start next week.
I think it’s a fine line. Good training is hard to come by. Secondly, sometimes supervisors want it done their way, despite how you think it could be done. That being said, I think it depends what your position is, and what type of job you have.
Totally agree. Don't jump in and do things you don't know how to do, but I have found that often you have to try SOMETHING for the supervisor to come back and say " oh I want it like this". Not all the time but sometimes. And yes, that's annoying, but can't change it.
I get where you are coming from but also, keep in mind not everyone is the same. That coworker of yours might have had a disability that makes remembering how to do things harder. As a person with ADD this is true for me and I really hope my coworkers don't judge me for it and find it "sad" when I don't know how to do something and I feel comfortable enough with them to ask for them help.
this kind of thing is the reason it took me years to even get a job due to anxiety over my proclivity to ask questions. i want things to be done the way my boss wants, because it seems whenever i try to figure out the answer myself, i end up doing the thing wrong and get scolded later. i understand not asking the same questions-i always take copious amounts of notes-but i think more questions is better than no questions, at least if i was a manager. so anyway, this is why i wanna start my own business. this attitude strikes me as toxic.
Thanks for this video! I am an anxious person so I will often ask a question even if I think I know the answer just because I want to make sure I'm doing it right... I will work on that!
Couldn’t agree more Cassie. You are a gem at guiding people. I’ve got a job thanks to tips from you and by asking the hard question you mentioned. God bless your efforts in simplifying these details which are often overlooked. 👏🏾
I got the job!!! I found you through some of the interview advice videos and now watching some of your other videos before my first day in a few days!!
1000% yes! Exhaust your resources! I feel like there is a wide-spread lack of resourcefulness among young adults entering the work force. I hope they ALL watch this! Great video!
I write a lot down but there are some things that I really need to ask and clarify the first week. I feel like this is the time to ask and write down a lot because later on they are going to expect you to be independent. Completely agree about the note taking.
It's very important that you create your own workflow notes for a new or even a current position if you're learning something new, working on a project or your company has investing in a new computer system. Notes are friend! I'm an on hands person when it comes to training because that's also a good way to learn as well. You won't know unless you try.
Hi Cass! Just wanted to say a huge thank you! Your videos helped me land a learnership at a travel agency, I'm starting on Monday 😄 So glad I found your channel and will keep watching, my dream has begun! 🗺❤ I have been a stay at home mom for 2 years with a side business, hardly any experience and only a high school certificate to my name, this is my dream job and my new boss says he was impressed by my interview approach, i.e. all I learned from your tips, including how to convince myself to not be nervous and the typical work week question at the end! Thank you again!
I just got the job I wanted! All thanks to your tips. I asked them questions to show my interest in the job and used the STAR method. Worked like a charm. Thank you so much!
I got the Job! Your tips are Great! you are the Guru Career Adviser! You really helped me with the STAR method and How to prep for an online interview. I have recommended your channel to all my friends that are looking for a job.
I eventually learned this several months into a new job. Depending on the type of job someone had previously, this is not super obvious. I really wish someone would have said “Hey, try your best, I believe what you will present would be a great start if not perfect, and we will go from there.” Going into a new role, I was under the impression that there were specific ways to do things and I needed to know those specific ways. Had I been told that there is much more flexibility than I had originally understood, it would’ve saved me so much of the question asking. I hope to be a mentor to new employees in the future and communicate this. It should be said.
Hi Cassy,I just wanted to tell you that i got the job offer last week wednesday 25th August,2021 after listening to one of your youtube video about salary negotiation.Boy!!!.......it was a hit for me.thank you so much. Ewons from Lagos,Nigeria
I got a Job.thanks for the tips l got from here, l just listened to the tips as l prepared for my interview, it perfected my confidence on the panel especially how to answer that question of tell us about yourself and strengths and weakness.Thank you.
So, in one of my recent job, I almost exhausted all the resources I had, talked with stakeholders, team members, what I could not figure out what was needed from me? My boss mentioned 2 words "find metrics", but when i spoke to the stakeholders i found there's no metric. So what am i supposed to do. I finally asked her ... "I spoke to everyone, got all the resources, now what?", she did explain me what I have to then. But that left her an expression that I needed extreme guidance, not only that she disliked my one question so much that, she pulled me out from a task and then she was just waiting for me to one small mistake so she can fire me! Which she did unfortunately. I am broken and shattered! I am new to North American way of working.
Cass, love your videos! Just got offered a new job that pays 34% more than my current salary. I’m nervous to give my 2 weeks notice to my boss because he is an awesome boss. Made it more difficult for me. Your videos helped me land my new job!! Keep it up!!
It would be helpful if you had mentioned that you’re referring to after the training because as you were talking I thought, well there are procedures that are specific to any job and you can’t know that and you can’t google it. Once I realized what you meant then it made more sense.
HI! my name is Onyka (pronounced like monica but without the m) after lots of research that probably wasn’t needed i got my first job at 16!! super excited.
Hi! I just had an interview for my absolute dream job. I used the STAR method. It went really well. I will hear back from them in 10 days. I really hope I get hired! Thank you for the tips!!!!!! I hope I get to be your next you got a job shout out!!!!!
Thank you, it’s such a relief to hear this. In my last job I did as you said and found out the answers myself and I always wrote notes. However, my colleagues were always making jibes about this and my boss told me he didn’t like that that I found the info myself instead of asking as it wasted time. Wow. I wasn’t happy in that job and have just secured a new job in an area I didn’t think I would get, but I did thanks to your tips! It’s all made me realise that what I needed was to get a new job working for a decent company. Thank you Cass. x
I got the job! Having a padfolio allowed me to take notes while still looking professional, I had some of your sample questions for the end of my interview and they were more than happy to answer them because everyone before me asked the same thing, "what are the next steps in the hiring process?". Looking up the hiring managers prior to the interview made it easy for me because I was now familiar with who I would be speaking to and that really calmed my nerves. Thank you so much
I landed a job at PNC three weeks after being fired thanks to your videos. I learned not just what to say in the interviews but how to prep for an interview and how to research the company. Thank you so much!
Cassandra, I got two offers, thanks to all your advise. Here is a big one for you. I have accepted a promotion. My start date is 05/17. At the same time, I am going thru a cancer scare. They are finding all these nodules in my body. I have to do all these tests and see 4 different specialists. How do I tell my new boss I need time off for all these appointments. BTW, 3 appointments are during my first week. I will get thru it.
Thank you for your great videos- got my first remote job this week and your tips help especially with setting up my work space and time management. thanks
I’ve got the job Cassandra! I have prepared for the interview following your advice and I asked “The question” but rephrased it a bit. Thank you for your amazing content!
Also, merely a request: please do create more videos on certain job scenarios. Balance of interview vs on-job video content would be of great help to your subscribers!
Thank you for you advice. I was able to get an internship! I watched your video on questions to ask in an interview and used the question that many interviewee's could be nervous to asked! The question worked and I think it caught my interviewer off guard as she smiled, when asked the question. Love the TH-cam channel!
Although I agree with you about the first part with not asking to many questions, but don't be afraid to ask questions if you've genuinely tried figuring it out and can't. I'd rather someone come to me with a genuine question that they can't figure out rather then them do something wrong.
God bless you. This is the exact advice I'd give to my agents while they were in training and their new hire period. Moreover, to answer your question from the Stott of the video, I got a new job! I won't be that annoying new hire during the first few weeks of the role. Thank you for all the tips :)
Thank you very much Cassandra for all your interview tips, they are so useful! It helped me prepare myself well for the interviews and I was offered a job I wanted 😊 Thank you once again 🙏🏻
What do you do when jobs don't have patience for you taking notes and going through those notes to learn the job? I graduated school as a honor student and have had jobs where I take notes and go through then to learn. However recently I've had assignments through temp agency. Within a few days I've been let go from the assignment from call centers because they thought me taking all the notes made me "too slow." I prefer a administrative role, but I also need a job. How do I take detailed notes when these jobs don't seem to have patience for me following the advice you are giving here? I have been corresponding with an employer at a company that is directly related to my major I graduated in. It was would be a huge stepping stone and something I could enjoy if I get this job. If there is any advice you can give so I can quickly follow your advice and not have employers call me "too slow" for taking detailed notes and going through my notes the first time I do tasks after being trained on them, you would be an angel sent.
I trained a new employee who also took notes. But virtually through Zoom. Mind you, she stopped me a lot of times during our training so she can take her notes. Which isn’t a good impression because she even said multiple times of how slow she was. I would ask an employee if it’s ok to take notes during training. But I would also recommend writing your own detailed notes at home.
Hi Cass, I got a job the day after randomly watching your video. And I m not even in the US but in Scotland! I love your videos and the way you do your videos is very easy to remember. i laugh so much when you keep mentioning about taking notes. As a manager I used to repeat that so many times to the employees and still, people still dont take notes on their first days! take care and great success in your projects and keep making videos!
I just got a new job watching a lot of your videos!!!! I'm now in the process of watching, and re-watching your videos about how to exit my current job gracefully when I resign. I have a question, I am a copious note taker. I have been in a new position, or trained on something in my current position, where the person training me says, "you don't need to take notes on this." I don't understand that. Should I stop taking notes? I'm not sure how to react to that. Any suggestions, or even another video on this. Thanks and keep up the great work!!!
Cassandra thanks to taking in all of your videos and taking your tips with job interviewing, I finally got a job offer for my dream position in the supply chain field after a year!!! Thanks to you girl! Keep up the great work with inspiring others!!!!
I respectfully disagree with this advice. So many companies don’t know how to onboard or train employees anymore. Google is not a replacement for onboarding and employee care. Employment is a two way street, and if an employer doesn’t care enough about me to answer my questions, provide reasonable training and access to the appropriate resources to perform the job, I can take my talents somewhere else. Also, being “too busy” to answer questions is total BS. Most of the people I’ve worked with who acted like that, were the first people you’d find chatting in the breakroom, sharing memes and wasting time. Yes, even the boss. 🤷🏻♀️ I agree if you have someone who asks the same questions multiple times, that’s one thing. But when an employer doesn’t organize themselves well and uses sink or swim vs structured training, employees are given no choice sometimes but to ask other people.
Keep in mind people learn in different ways. We are like children. One way of learning isn’t conducive to everyone. It’s actually not fair to even expect that.
I want to thank you for all the efforts you put in to make these videos. I can't tell you how much they were of help in my preparation and landing a job. Keep rocking as you do :)
Great tips! Thank you for the videos, they are very helpful! Last job I started I was writing everything down. I was working with all the departments in the company and it helped a lot to have the basics of what we'll be working on written down and who the key people were. Also, I kept a daily log of what I did every day, what tasks I completed and to whom I forwarded the results, just to have the history in case I needed to back trace something one day.
Hi Cassandra, I want to thank you for all the tips... I actually got my previous job with your tips, unfortunately it was the most toxic place ever and I had to quit. Now I just got a new job and they are inviting me for a "welcome video-call" I already got the offer and accepted, now they want me to meet the team before my official starting day.... How should I prepare? Thanks for the tips!
Hi Cass, thanks for sharing this type of content! I'm starting my first office job tomorrow in medical billing. I'm pretty nervous and want to make a great impression. My plan is to stay in this role while I work on my accounting degree so I can transition into a more accounting related position in couple of years or so.
Omg! It drives me crazy, when we have a new assistant at the office and they ask a ton of questions -chatting live- while they are doing a task! Like take a breath.. calm down.. write down all you questions and we take it from there.. that being said.. it also shows that the on boarding wasn’t good enough.. 🤷🏽♀️
Maybe you could’ve suggested your co-worker write it down the 1st time you showed her how to do attachments- otherwise it’s hurtful when you say it the way you did to her (“That’s the last time I’m showing you”). Some people just don’t think about things.
You’re getting a short-handed snippet of a relationship you don’t have the full context of. If I had told her to write it down the first time I would’ve been screamed at. And you’re hearing my quick version of sharing it with you not the full context of my tone and exact words in the actual moment. The point is- write stuff down
@@CassThompsonConsulting I get the point. You could’ve explained that we were just hearing the short version & you would’ve gotten screamed at; that would’ve been nice to know. I actually would enjoy hearing the story of your co-worker being almost unapproachable. It’d be a good learning lesson for us maybe🤷♀️
I got a new job and I absolutely love it so I was just looking for what not to do because they're teaching me new things Oh, I thought I was a young kid because I took so much knows but I take notes and I study the notes at night to make sure I'm getting everything correct and it's still things I need to work on because it's the computer and I never ever really learned the computer but because of those notes and studying its sticks and I remember thank you for saying that

I got the job with zero experience thanks to your tips! You’re the best!! I beat out 5 other people!!! She said I asked fantastic questions.
I got the Job.. I asked d hesitancy question and d Interviewer was 😮😍😍😍
Thank You
You're welcome and congratulations!
I got a new job Cass, feeling so blessed! These tips are amazing :)
She is telling the blessed truth! Every point is valid!!! You are super terrific and are a great help!!!
I got the job!!! I found you through some of the interview advice videos and now watching some of your other videos before my first day in a few days!!
I got my 1st server job!! Hired on the spot :) actually most of the interview. Was filling out paper work lol. Im a host and server :) crosstrained
You are off to a great start.
I have been a stay at home mom for 2 years with a side business, hardly any experience and only a high school certificate to my name, this is my dream job and my new boss says he was impressed by my interview approach, i.e. all I learned from your tips, including how to convince myself to not be nervous and the typical work week question at the end! Thank you again!
Congratulations Nadia!
I got the job thanks to your tips. The hesitancy question worked all the way through.
I got a new job! Thank you for your tips, everything helped. Specially getting more confidence. I'm recommending your channel to friends!
I got the job!!! Thank you so much for your helpful videos! God bless you.
-Tim
I just got the job I wanted! All thanks to your tips. I asked them questions to show my interest in the job and used the STAR method. Worked like a charm. Thank you so much!
Congrats Shirro!
I got the Job! Your tips are Great! you are the Guru Career Adviser! You really helped me with the STAR method and How to prep for an online interview. I have recommended your channel to all my friends that are looking for a job.
Thank you so much!!! Congrats to you!
I got a new job! Thank you so much for doing these videos. They are so informative.
I got the dream job and it starts in 2 weeks. Your vids helped me with the interview and job hunting process, and I'm sure these will help too!
I got a Job.thanks for the tips l got from here, l just listened to the tips as l prepared for my interview, it perfected my confidence on the panel especially how to answer that question of tell us about yourself and strengths and weakness.Thank you.
I got a job too, your help on describing myself was a great format to use. Thanks for your help and inspiration while I had this transition to make!
Thank you Cass. x
Thanks for sharing Helen. That last boss sounds odd that he didn't want someone resourceful.
Thank you so much
I got ‘the’ job that I dreamt of for almost 2 years because of you. Thanks and hats off for the tips. You’re amazing
I got the job . Your tips work like magic . Thankyou
Thank you for your great videos- got my first remote job this week and your tips help especially with setting up my work space and time management. thanks
Glad to help
I’ve got the job Cassandra! I have prepared for the interview following your advice and I asked “The question” but rephrased it a bit.
Thank you for your amazing content!
Congrats Polina and thanks for watching!
Great point Cassandra. Im an engineer....we all gotts learn how to do stuff on our own because the work is 99% research based.. But who is Nick? 🤣🤣🤣
I got a job too, thanks for all of the tips! Really clear and concise. Here now getting ready for my first week 😊
You're officially my favorite TH-cam career specialist because.... you love the Bachelor too!
#rightreasons
I would love more videos on this topic!! The newbie mistakes that you do NOT want to make. I’m still waiting on a call back after an interview 🤞🤞
Yes 🙌🏽!! I’m a copious note taker. I know my memory isn’t that perfect !!
Thank you for your valuable advices ! they're helpful.
I am thrilled I have discovered you you are absolutely terrific
Love this video - no one has ever been fired for showing initiative
I’ve been a stay at home mom for 4 years, and I got a new job Recently! 🥺🦋
I start Friday!
Take notes people!!! Thanks for the kind words
Yay! Have to thank you for I got the job. Your videos have been so inspirational 💜
Woohoo!!!!
I agree if you have someone who asks the same questions multiple times, that’s one thing. But when an employer doesn’t organize themselves well and uses sink or swim vs structured training, employees are given no choice sometimes but to ask other people.
I got a job at pizza factory! this will be my first job, i’m sooo nervous. my first day is this thursday
Fantastic! Good luck to you!
Have you googled that? Great but what if your job doesn't let you use your phone and don't have access to a computer.
I got a job! I've watched ur videos to prepare for interview questions.
Omg! It drives me crazy, when we have a new assistant at the office and they ask a ton of questions -chatting live- while they are doing a task! Like take a breath.. calm down.. write down all you questions and we take it from there.. that being said.. it also shows that the on boarding wasn’t good enough.. 🤷🏽♀️
Sooooo I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS AND YOU HELPED ME GET A JOB!!
Thanks for your tips.i just got a new job.
I got a new job and I absolutely love it so I was just looking for what not to do because they're teaching me new things Oh, I thought I was a young kid because I took so much knows but I take notes and I study the notes at night to make sure I'm getting everything correct and it's still things I need to work on because it's the computer and I never ever really learned the computer but because of those notes and studying its sticks and I remember thank you for saying that
You seriously ROCK. Watched your videos before my interview on Friday; got the job offer today (Sunday) and of course accepted!! Thank you so much for your tips!! XOXO
That's awesome! Congrats! #yougotajob !
