As someone who came out as Bi in my 30s and had to tell my mum (who fortunately was happy for me), the dinner scene with Taash feels really familiar. It gets so much criticism for being too heavy handed because of the way they just blurt it out. But that's what it's like. Because it's a hard thing to say and it's the rip-off-the-bandaid technique. You just say it, short and clear. Because it takes a ton of courage to get the words past your lips. Unsurprisingly that tiny scene of a difficult coming out moment is one that got the internet all riled up.
