This reminds me of being a kid at our holiday caravan near seahouses and bamburgh. Spent hours trailing the rock pools at low tide to see what I could catch. Usually small grabs and some cockles!
Great video John and James. Very intresting and educational. I have been using the tide times for several years now, useful for walking the dog. From what I've seen with my nephew the education system is diabolical. Wrapped up in red tape and health and safety. No longer allowed to play football incase someone gets hurt. 👍

Awesome video again! My dad used to take me rock pooling all the time, was the highlight of my week. There is a great spot in south Devon where we could always find some scorchers of giant goby’s and sea scorpions! James is a lucky kid!

When I lived in Bridlington I worked in a walled garden and I told them to go to the beaches to get sea weed for the garden and the fruit and vegetables were amazing xx 😘

I grew up in Hawaii and I'm not a big fan of opihi either 😝Loved investigating tidepools as a kid, this brings me back to those fun days on the shore. Great video!
I've just recently made exactly the same thing for my niblings! With stickers to stich in the squares. Good idea, getting them laminated. I used sticky back plastic (Blue Peter style, lol). Extra points for knowing which plants and animals are edible. Also an ice-cream prize for spotting an ice-cream van.

It reminds me of a time, many years ago, when I taught Marine Biology to school children when I worked at the Huntsman Marine Science Centre on the Bay of Funday on Canada's east coast. One of us would act as 'Dr Perry Winkle' as we led the children through the intertidal zone.
Looks like great fun. Reminds me of a book that I had as a kid, that gave scores for different things we'd spotted in rock-pools, based on rarity... and btw, the pedant in me can't help pointing out that there's no such thing as a "Sea Gull". :)

Well I keep learning. You are a terrific teacher. I live in a small town in Western NY. We have the Chemung river and the Susquehanna river (Indian names for the various NY tribes) and do we have gulls. And Eagles that run up the river and over the city. The great lakes are nearly 2 hours from here but that doesnt matter to a bird. Thanks for the lessons.. I wait eagerly for the next.

Out here in Hawaii, locals Love their local seaweed=limu(lee-moo). Back in 1970s, marine biologists categorized/identified 70+ different strains of limu, ranging in color from red, brown, black, green & all shades/color combinations.....

We don’t have so many eagles here. Osprey sometimes and lots of Buzzards. Wonderful creatures.

Out here in Hawaii, locals Love their local seaweed=limu(lee-moo). Back in 1970s, marine biologists categorized/identified 70+ different strains of limu, ranging in color from red, brown, black, green & all shades/color combinations.....
Here we have over 200.
