      That does tend to happen but it is most likely to create a connection to the individual. Basically to get your imagination pumping on who they are and feeling anything for them. It is a very basic beginner writing style of telling a story even if the reader observation is meaningless.

    Man, that "you can never quite trust....the babysitter" line cut me deep. I am a 52 year old man, but when I was younger, I used to babysit my next door neighbor's 2 boys. I was quite close to this family, and the parents knew I would take a bullet for any of them, especially the boys.
    It just pisses me off that the world has become what it has, where you can't trust anyone anymore. There are still those rare few of us who genuinely love our fellow man.

      @tiffany benefield - the #6 story is straight up BS. How does a kid act like that (shoving his kid sister down the stairs, killing the family pets, etc) and the parents not seek psychological help for the kid until after he nearly killed the babysitter? Did they think it was just a phase the kid was going to grow out of?

    • @cats1970
      @cats1970 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Onion Face While it’s definitely true that parents often don’t get their divergent kids therapy, therapy can very much help sociopaths, psychopaths and narcissists! Many other things can be wrong with this kid (whether he’s real or fictional), but if he was any of those, there are different treatment options depending on circumstance- especially at a young age.

    A truly chilling babysitting story...
    During the summer when I was 13, I had to look after my dad's cop buddy's four wild kids, all under the age of 8 with two of the kids still in diapers. I spent ten hours per day with those little monsters and I only got paid $2/hr. Granted, this was the early 1980's and minimum wage was less than $3/hr, but still...
    The plot twist in this whole thing is that today I'm an elementary school teacher and I spend my days with twenty kids. 😆
    (And I love my job.)

    I am curious of what Michael's parents thought. The fact that the babysitter and their family had to sue them for medical and therapy bills sounds like they were in denial. The fact that he was an endangerment to his little sister is what bothers me (I had an older brother who was physically violent towards me, going after me with knives and strangling me, all in front of my mother. She played favorites so he *easily* got away with it.). Having him committed may just have saved his life.

      They use to. Idk if they still do or not. You used to be able to call your own number and hang up real quick and it would ring. I have no idea if that still works or not. When caller ID first came out in our area I think it was blank if it was a call from within the house, but my brain is itching like I'm forgetting the it did say something instead of being blank. The was just way too long ago. I'm sorry.

    These are *the scariest* babysitting stories I've ever heard. I used to babysit all the time when I was younger, but the worst thing that happened to me was that my 12 year old cousin sneaked off to a friend's house without telling me and I thought I lost him! Luckily, he came back before his parents got home, we got away with it! 👍

    The way these stories are written are insufferable. Feels unnatural and useless details are extremely common especially ones nobody would remember. Also feels like these are written by the same group of 2 or 3 people. Pick better sources and don't mark them as true.

    • @iheartanime1011
      @iheartanime1011 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Well, some of these were traumatic events for the tellers and reliving the could cause them to ramble about unimportant details as they relive the events and feel the need to include every single detail that comes to mind.

      @kiara kimmons - The difference between someone recounting a real incident and one that is making one up is how much detail they feel the need to share. The more detail they add, the more likelihood that it's a fabrication (seeing as they're trying to paint a mental image for the reader to visualize).

    I used to babysit for this single mom who lived around the corner from us. She just had one little girl who was maybe 4 or 6 I can't really remember. I was probably 14 or 15. Sue tells me one night that there was a joint missing out of her stash and she knew I took it. I didn't. I never looked in any of her cabinets or drawers. She said it was really good pot and that I had to babysit for her for free to pay for the joint. I was scared that I was going to be in trouble so I just went with it. But I swear I didn't take it. What a bitch
