You actually want to keep the center of mass away from the control surfaces so they have more effect on the orientation. e.g. its way easier to balance a Hammer on its handle than on the head Real life rockets also have the center of mass near the top btw
I had a problem with the tracking on mine. To make it work properly flip your sonar vertically and make sure the function block is -x*6 instead of positive x*6. That should fix it.
My sonar only wants to rotate to one side. it turns ones the target is in range bur for some reason if it's x*6 it turns right and if it's -x*6 it turns left. it doesn't matte if the target is left or right thats just the way it turns.

Elevation really seems to be elevation. So his torpedo hitting the target was just dumb luck. You need to put the sonar in vertically to get azimuth/yaw. I tried to replicate his torpedo and almost went nuts trying to hit a small target.
@@countZ74 naw mate. I tired putting the sonar vertically and it went even more crazy. Edit: wait, ur right. Just make sure to put the function block to (-)x*6.
I've found that directly connecting an altitude sensor to the pitch will cause a hydrofoil to mostly plane at 0 elevation. Use a function block to offset it and bob's your uncle.
Late to the party here, but you can subtract target depth from current depth (called a deviation) and use this in a function to control depth, start with /2 & work your way down if it's too sensitive. Mine go ~450km/h & /1.7 is perfect to keep it dead stable
So there are 3 gains Gain means boost Propotional, integral, and something that starts with D Propotional gain, lets say is the booster of the urge to change the variable to the set point Integral gain calculates the future if the variable keeps on moving towards the set point which makes the speed of change decrease as the variable reaches the set point D gain is the boost to resist the quick changes (kind of like inertia), which makes sure that the variable doesnt start to move quickly to the set point(because it would be harder to slow down)
this was helpful, now all i need is to work on a suitable torpedo launcher (and probably a decent ship) or a decent aircraft to launch it with and i'll be fine
You can just divide the remaining distance by a number like 10 or 15 and divide that number by 100 and add that to your normal rudder output then hook to rudder.
My torpedo is going the wrong direction, the target is to the left but it goes to the right, or it's not tracking att all. The torp going in the wrong direction seemed to be that i had a sunken boat nearby, still doesn't explain it going to the right. I removed the boat and now it's actually tracking the boat i have parked a bit away, but it keeps turning left after it goes the same heading the boat is in. And yes, the torpedo is set up like in the video.
I'm stuck on the depth hold, I did the same PID settings as him and the torpedo can't seem to settle on a depth. I increased the Derivative gain but it doesn't seem to be helping.

There is one on yt
Search up PID tutorial stormworks
So there are 3 gains
Gain means boost
Propotional, integral, and something that starts with D
Propotional gain, lets say is the booster of the urge to change the variable to the set point
Integral gain calculates the future if the variable keeps on moving towards the set point which makes the speed of change decrease as the variable reaches the set point
D gain is the boost to resist the quick changes (kind of like inertia), which makes sure that the variable doesnt start to move quickly to the set point(because it would be harder to slow down)

Hey mrNjersey im new to stormworks i was asking if you could make a european truck series ?
Yes
would love to see more definately - i'd love to see this launched off the side of a boat somehow, then I can add it to mine :)
also, what about hitting moving targets ;)
Can I use a keep active block so when the war head explodes I could still se it on the map?
no
Anyone know a good microcontroller to make radar\sonar torpedoes \missiles that not only track targets but also lead moving targets?
Look up proportional navigation, it's rather simple math.
Well if its a spinning radar you cant
But if you can control where it looks at you can
Just maks sure the FOV is high enough
You can just divide the remaining distance by a number like 10 or 15 and divide that number by 100 and add that to your normal rudder output then hook to rudder.
doesnt matter what i put in the function block, it goes left - infact i entered x*200 and it turned left even more
Try making it negative
Put it sideways

Iirc elevation angle isn't the right output to use and you need the azimuth instead.
my torpedo just goes straight the sonar doesnt seem to be working at all but the depth holds
Could this be simplified with the new radar composite output? Or do the radars in game not work underwater?
they dont work under water sadly. i did some test and radar dont work underwater and sonar dont work out of water
