  • For many years I only did one video of the native gardens (the ditch garden), but when I do that I can't catch a lot of the grasses and flowers in their prime. This year I'll do an Early Summer, Mid Summer, and Late Summer version. Enjoy!

    Gorgeous! Your gardens actually look better than the the local arboretum in our area! I think the grasses make the difference 🌷🌹🥀🌼🌸🌺🌻♥♥

      Thanks Heidi! I'm not one for formal gardens either, but do like semi-formal gardens 😊

    Your gardens are beautiful. I like the natural way of planting like that. I can’t wait to see the new stone work.❤️🤗🐝

      Thanks Deborah! The rainy spring has set things back like a month, but I'll be starting the stonework this week (if it doesn't rain me out!). I love the more natural gardens as well. Grasses and flowers together is much more appealing to me, and the grasses stay around all winter! 😊

      @@PlanetMojo Right! I’ve never cared for flower gardens with all the flowers in rows. It just looks strange.🤗
      I hope the weather holds for you to do your stone work. I need quite a bit of that done too! I only have one walkway and it’s so sunken in that it’s hard to walk on. It would need removing and starting again.🤗❤️🐝

      @@deborahdanhauer8525 Not looking forward to stonework in the blazing sun myself, but I am looking forward to having the stairs done and a bit of path to walk on! I still have grass to plant there as well, so I really need to get moving!

    Hi Mojo,great show looking so good and well kept,I did ask the question a few videos ago but didn't get an answer,my Question was do you have or grow a plant related to the mint,plant is called catnip it has a lot of medicinal properties and it can be used as an insect repellent.

    • @PlanetMojo
      @PlanetMojo  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Hi Larry, I actually responded to that video, but somehow it never went through 🤔 Catnip grows wild around here. It's not native, but people have been planting it for years and it is all over the place. Most of the cat treats we but have catnip in them as well. It may have some insect repellant properties, but it smells like skunk, so I wouldn't be tempted to use it for that 🦨

    You are very knowledgeable about the grasses. I'm so impressed. The best I can do is tell the difference between a weed a nice looking grass and what we call crab grass.

    I think we determined before that wild carrot and queen anne's lace are in fact the same! Where are you finding this crazy info that it's not??? 😂😂😂😂 I swear it is.

    • @PlanetMojo
      @PlanetMojo  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Thanks for the reminder J, you are correct! I believe I learned that they are separate from a TH-cam video long ago, and it's one of those persistent falsehoods that are hard to shake. It was stated that one has the black (or red) spot in the middle, and the other doesn't, but the spot is there or not there on the same plant. Hopefully next year I get it right! 🥴

      @@PlanetMojo Poison Hemlock and Queen Anne's Lace are sometimes confused... maybe you read that?

    • @PlanetMojo
      @PlanetMojo  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jned3967 No, it was wild carrot. I found a video on it back when I first planted the ditch because there was so much of it growing here when I first started. It was a video from a homesteader for sure. He said one was native and the other was invasive, and that the center spot was how to tell the difference. Some TH-cam 'knowledge' dies hard 😐

    Why don't you add orange tuberosa milkweed. It's clump forming. Does not spread like common version. It is bright orange and fairly short.

    • @PlanetMojo
      @PlanetMojo  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I tried a couple of alternatives and they didn't take. I'll try again some time though.
