I love the graphics, I'm glad they kept most of the original sprite work and tweaked the frames of animation. I wasn't a fan of the upper left display lettering and the border it has it's a bit distracting, and I really didn't like the music in some of the levels. Pretty neat to have other characters and abilities in sonic 1 but I didn't like the inclusion of other characters from the franchise except for knuckles.
I think this is already completed. All stages are playable, options for level select & shield types are available. Maybe it would just be 8-bit mode since it's only a WIP.
Mhm. Don't really like the Boss designs. Robotnik seems very passive. There is no reason for him to be there other than be a target to hit. If he doesn't interact with the player or at least controls the death traps then why is he even around? I know implementing new Boss ideas is hard. And otherwise it looks like a real great mod.
This is such a well done hack (except for the boses) but still you nailed the music. You even made scrap brain zones music to feel like the actual final level and not just a boring filler level
I think Jay didn't use rays glide ability is to still have it seem like it's sonic 1 with the good ol sonic we used to know. *no spindash, no insta shield, no dropdash.*
I think the creators of sonic mania should remake sonic 1 into the style of sonic mania (Even though most of the people who worked on sonic mania like Christian Whitehead and Stealth already made remakes like sonic 1 with knuckles)
Sonic 1 was already remastered in Sonic 1 CD. This mod doesn't make a graphic upgrade here or necessary improvement, it only does some changes to make it look like Sonic Mania but it's all. Good mod anyway!
