As a Packers fan, I respect Bud Grant for being a great NFL coach. He is a cold weather coach, and I think that's why the Vikings were good in the 70s. Any guy who who wears a polo in -6 degree weather earns my respect.
4:02. The sight of Bud Grant singing "Oh Canada", standing at attention, holding his ball cap over his heart. It is the most indelible act of respect I've ever seen by an American for my country. We were privileged to have you live and work here and you're more than welcome to come back as often as you wish.
If and when the Vikings ever do win the big one I hope they don’t forget this man and what he did for them I might be a bears fan but this man is one of importances in NFL history don’t forget him
I think this is why I like coaches like Bud Grant and Chuck Noll. Both were kinda stoic, both were excellent leaders yet never let coaching dictate their lives. Bud was an avid outdoorsman with fishing and hunting while Chuck enjoyed a different lifestyle with wine, classical music and flying (Bought a plane before he got his license). Great coaches and great men.
Bud Grant once walked up to me when I was working security at the old Met Stadium, I never saw him coming. He hated the bullhorn I was holding. 40 years later he told my friend he hated those guys with the bullhorns. Still love you Bud!
I'd love to meet the gentleman who always had a good word for every one. The year I got out of Active duty was in 1976.(The last year the Vikes went to the big game) I would just love to carry the flag onto the field and meet this gentleman. My personal al time hero was Gen Patton. Between these two guys there are no losses only congrats. THANKS BUD
Whenever I think of Minnesota Vikings, yes, that Stoic look and Vikings baseball cap and purple Jacket. Bud Grant is that Man forever in Minnesota lore. Vikes haven't been in Superbowl since. Although I grew up a die hard Raiders fan in 70s, I always enjoyed watching how entertaining the vikes were in the nfc. Although i was happy my raiders won super bowl 11, I felt so bad for the vikes. I picked them against steelers and Dolphins. Bud Grant is a class
I heard bud grant used to make the Vikings practice in short sleeves during the winter and that’s y the Vikings were so good cuz weather was never an issue
Bud is the only man to play in both the NBA and The NFL. And of course the NFL won't credit him for his wins in the CFL. But he as a coach has more wins that any other.
I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan, but I remember Bud Grant , Fran Tarkington, Chuck Foreman , and the purple people waters, when I was a kid. Great coach, great leader, great man.
MUCH RESPECT TO YOU THERE (BUD GRANT) FROM [ 1972 ] WHEN I 1st. CAME TO LEARN AN KNOW ABOUT YOU SIR, TIL THIS PRESENT DATE OF [ SEPT. 23rd. 2019 ] ...... ( KNUCKLE👊🏽BUMP ) Coach Bud Grant 🏈.....
3:14 Fun to see that statue, it's such a different look than Vikings fans are used to. No wonder he was such a good cold weather coach: What do you do when you go hunting? Sit there and freeze! He's always been used to it.
Not only our greatest coach.......but a great ambassador of the upper Midwest! A family man,...a hunter/sportsman,....coach on and off the field....and a man who knew Jim Marshall. And he knew Alan Page. And..........it’s 40 for 60 minutes! We all stand at attention at the National Anthem. A. Good Man!
I’m guessing he’s not a fan. I had high hopes they would return to an outdoor stadium after the metrodome collapsed but the powers that be kept them indoors.
He was drafted by the Lakers and played on the team for two seasons. He was a member of an NBA champion. He averaged about 3 points/game in his two year career.
I live in Michigan & bo schembecher era; bo schembecher never left Michigan football; but he never coach after 1989; did 📺 tv work etc office at schembecher hall;;
People from the south just don't understand what cold weather feels like. Here in Minnesota, it sometimes gets to 100 degrees and humid in the summer and can get to -50 (without windchill) in the winter. I'd much rather have 100 degrees all year than -50.
this went from a garage sale to one of the most epic things i've ever seen

Johnny you have great taste in football teams. Enjoy them in great health, brother.
Go pack go
@@davidmenchaca7605No Pack, No
"Were stars. We've done nothing heroic." I love this man.
Me too.
Sadly, there won't be any more garage sales. RIP bud grant
i grew up to the 70s Vikings. Bud Grant will always have a special place in my heart.
lived in Los Angeles during those epic Rams vs Vikings games, which I rooted for the Vikings..great memories of Coach and players.
Same here Tommy. Still a Vikings fan in Colts country. Bud is a true legend and so glad I grew up with a class act like him.
@@Grainexpress that’s good much respect

It would be perfect to see a rematch of the Vikings and Chiefs with Bud Grant finally able to see his team bring it home
He said it best..not heroes but Stars..best thing I heard all month..
It's the best thing I have heard all year.
Die hard Packer fan but i have tremendous respect for this man. He is a one of a kind coach. You vikes fans are lucky.

“Everything has its value”
I am a Packer, but I respect him very much for what he has achieved. 🙏🏼
I LOVE he walked out in short sleeves. That is just perfect!!!!
Chad when he starts whining for contracting pnemonia well a publicity stunt classless ol Ziggy probably paid him a cool 100 grand to do it lol

Wow... We're STAR'S NOT HEROES! We've done nothing heroic!!! What a quote Bud!!!!!
I'M PROUD TO HAVE LIVED IN ST PAUL MINNI I LOVE MINNESOTA....
Good human being. Humble, articulate, accomplished, and soft-spoken. Hero.
Bud Grant once walked up to me when I was working security at the old Met Stadium, I never saw him coming. He hated the bullhorn I was holding. 40 years later he told my friend he hated those guys with the bullhorns. Still love you Bud!
I just found out about him, and I already like him
he was that kind of guy
Fun fact, he was also an NBA player and was a part of the first ever NBA Championship team in 1950!
He's the reason along with Fran Tarkenton that I was the only Vikings fan in Rhode Island in the 1970's
This is F ing Legendary This Man Is Vikings Royalty 👏 🙌 💛💜 God Bless You Bud Grant 🙏🏼 RIP
Guy had almost 1,000 receiving yards in 1952 he was a great player too. Not just a great coach.
and an NBA champion basketball player
and led the Eagles in sacks (before it was an official stat).
that's cool man. this dude seems fun.
He was a great coach too.
Coach Grant is a giant in the world of football. Just as big as Lombardi, Halas, etc and I was a Baltimore Colts fan.
I'd love to meet the gentleman who always had a good word for every one. Much respect to him and how he viewed not only football, but life in general. R.I.P.

I absolutely love Coach Grant. I enjoyed going to all the garage sales I did. He is such a remarkable man
00:41 I felt that on a spiritual level
How can we not have maximum respect for Bud Grant, the best combination of work and family values I am aware of!
I heard bud grant used to make the Vikings practice in short sleeves during the winter and that’s y the Vikings were so good cuz weather was never an issue
RIP bud💜
He's great the best it would of been even better if the Vikings had won a Super Bowl under his name
Just heard he passed, immediately thought of this video. RIP coach
This dude lives 20 minutes away and I've never been to one of his garage sales!?
Take a second to pass by.
less than 5 mins away, same, and i'm Vikings crazy...lol go figure
Should have raffled off his four super bowl rings for the ART of walleye fishing...ol trapper!!!!
@Daniel Olsen He does have a NFL Championship ring...unless he sold it
same here I stay in St Cloud Gotta Check it out !
True leader in my eyes!
Bud Grant - tougher than a $1 steak
My 2nd all-time favorite Coach, just behind Coach Lombardi.
Bud is the only man to play in both the NBA and The NFL.
And of course the NFL won't credit him for his wins in the CFL. But he as a coach has more wins that any other.
Bud grant is a sport legend; play basketball with George mikan
If you count a preseason appearance while he was the host of NBA Inside Stuff, there is one other man: Ahmad Rashad, whose coach was Bud
The Patriarch of the Minnesota Vikings...how true!
Class guy.. I remember watching the Vikings on T.V. playing out in the snow.
Incredible athlete & even better human!
A true legend
RIP legend
I hate the Vikings but I have much respect for Bud Grant. He’s a true American patriot and icon.
1:23 Best part, made me laugh so hard

Such an amazing man.
This needs to be an hour longer
What an awesome story! what a beautiful family!
A Living Legend... is an understatement.

And he knew Alan Page. And..........it’s 40 for 60 minutes! We all stand at attention at the National Anthem. A. Good Man!
He could go to Green Bay...Chicago.....Detroit.....even Tampa Bay. And be highly respected....as the Man who was a rival to whole states!
Love that he says they are stars and not heroes
Rest in peace, Bud Grant.❤😢
GREAT TRIBUTE!!
I wonder what he thinks of the domed stadiums? His teams played outdoors in freezing temps.
He is not a fan !
I’m guessing he’s not a fan. I had high hopes they would return to an outdoor stadium after the metrodome collapsed but the powers that be kept them indoors.
BUD .. Looking great coach, be well.
When you get used to cold weather it becomes second nature to you or anyone.
What a beauty!
When your neighbors personally know Bud Grant and you’ve seen him like a million times 😂
da lebatard show would always have him on when he did his garage sales.... was awesome
The man’s a legend
>You will never go on a hunting trip with Bud Grant in the Minnesota autumn
Why even live
he keeps it real af
“You shot a duck hang it up on the wall. How long can you look at it?” 😂
0:57 I think you have found something good, kid! Great work
A great coach
I'm a Bears fan. But this man is one of the greatest coaches ever
It was a sad day in BC when Grant left the BC Lions and took Joe Kapp with him to Minnesota! The Lions took a dive in '65!
RIP Bud
Legend
He was drafted by the Lakers and played on the team for two seasons. He was a member of an NBA champion. He averaged about 3 points/game in his two year career.
I like him even more now!
good old bud.
Bud Grant and Jackie Robinson may be the two best all around athletes in history.
Bud grant is in my family I swear
Im sorry sir ...do you need counseling to endure trama? Lol
I wish he was still our coach
His body might have deteriorated but his mind is the same as always.
I live in Michigan & bo schembecher era; bo schembecher never left Michigan football; but he never coach after 1989; did 📺 tv work etc office at schembecher hall;;
No negotiating, he is on lebatard show sometimes,,,,,,hes awesome
Bud seems to be one cool dude😎 #purplepeopleeaters
could you imagine haggling with Bud Grant at a yard sale...?
Well done
That was bad ass!
Ayyy Shout out Minnesota :)
Minneapolis should have built a retractable dome stadium. Play December games in zero degrees.
Now that's an idea
What would be the point of having a dome then?
4 times bud grant got his hands on lord earl grey's cherish cup
Yes Sir!! And play not to lose Glen Mason...his clone won a Micro dot come Toilet Bowl...Lol
Coach should have won at least one Super Bowl.
make this a holiday in his home state
national anthem start playing and I think in my head America fuck yeah and I hear OH Canada .... went limp

I agree, but I think the biggest difference is that in southern texas it will be 95 one day and 40 the next. We have every season once a week it seems
Chills
The Vikings should really appreciate him.
Need bud grant statue at new football stadium
How much Viking Superbowl memorabilia do you think he has?
The only athlete to play in both the NFL and NBA, you will win many bets knowing this. LOL
And he won a championship as a player in the NBA in 1950!
Bud grant won gray cup Canadian football league
Does he still do this?
