The original Cumbia is entirely different than what is shown here. This version is a Mexican development. Original Colombian Cumbia is an African music which is played and danced entirely different. Also, actual Colombians do not dress as the kids in this video. That is 100% original to Mexico.

I am Mexican-American and I agree with the Colombian people out here who are disturbed by all of this. Instead of "evolving" this music, like they like to point out in this video, they have completely deformed it. Starting with the way they dress in those baggy clothes, the hair styles, and satanic lyrics inducing everything that is bad! This is no where near to the beautiful melodic, uplifting music I fell in love with as a kid.

Colonia la indepencia Monterey is where my roots is from, and i love it.
I am Mexican-American and I agree with the Colombian people out here who are disturbed by all of this. Instead of "evolving" this music, like they like to point out in this video, they have completely deformed it. Starting with the way they dress in those baggy clothes, the hair styles, and satanic lyrics inducing everything that is bad! This is no where near to the beautiful melodic, uplifting music I fell in love with as a kid.
It is changing, but just because its totally different doesn't mean its bad. Its pretty original and I respect that. Evolution comes from deformities.
