    Love your honesty and showing us the unbiased testings on devices! Much appreciated on your great videos!

    BTW I would not worry about up/down speeds being different - just look at the elaborate antenna config inside the AP, you can NOT have the same inside a laptop ... receiving is much easier than sending

    I did think something was off, but thank you for being honest and trying to correct it.
    Have you tried testing with the likes of LibreSpeed to see if it was OST that was the issue?

    Wonderful review! I watch the video from the beginning up to the very end, it showed all what I wanted to know and see, great content, congratulations! I really enjoy the teardown you always do with every TP-Link ap you have reviewed!
    By the way, can this device work outdoor, just as it comes or maybe with some epoxi to make it somewhat waterproof? I can only imagine the range this monster will have outdoors, I need to increase my bandwidth, and also clients' capacity to +300, and this beauty could manage up to 2k!
    I run a WISP and have been longing for such a device for my main access point, and make a strong mesh by wirelessly connecting some other EAP690E HD to the root ap.
    What do you think?

  • @affinitystablepeanuts
    @affinitystablepeanuts 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Bluetooth is probably for management via either TP Link Omada mobile app, or some future appliance of some sort.
    As per F.A.Q. on their website: EAP690E HD has a build-in Bluetooth module, but future firmware updates are needed to support Bluetooth features.

    • @SPXLabs
      @SPXLabs  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah I think that is a safe assumption also.

    Figure out the upload speed issue yet?
    Only time I have seen something like that was when I had a limiter on my PFSense firewall to help with bufferbloat and forgot I had it enabled, or some other form of QoS at the gateway.
    I wish I could get TP Link to send me some gear :)

    Hi, I have the exact same setup except with a different TP-Link AP. Anyway, I found that using Firefox was “changing” the html5 results vs using a Chromium based browser. I also noticed that using a windows machine vs a Linux one also affected results. (Linux was faster). Still unsure why though. Just an observation.

    • @SPXLabs
      @SPXLabs  ปีที่แล้ว

      For my actual testing I used iperf3. I used open speed test only because it shows up on camera better. But yes from my experience with open speed test safari is the “fastest”.

    Why did you have 10G in one direction and not the other? I would assume it would be symmetric

    This unit is pretty massive to put on the ceiling. How does this unit compare to the Ubiquiti AP you replaced speed-wise? Would you recommend this TP-Link over Ubiquiti?

    • @SPXLabs
      @SPXLabs  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well this is 6e over my Ubiquiti WiFi 6 AP so it does support more bandwidth.
      I think it depends on your budget. Smaller budget tplink, bigger budget Unifi

    • @Wav10001
      @Wav10001 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SPXLabs Ubiquiti has the Unifi U6 Enterprise , which actually appears to be cheaper in price. It doesn’t have a 10Gbe uplink though, but considering your Speedtests I’m not sure that’s an issue. Other than that, I don’t know how the two compare.

    • @SPXLabs
      @SPXLabs  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh nice, I don't track prices on the regular but the Omada ecosystem is cheaper overall than UniFi. Now as far as individual prices of components, that obviously varies as you pointed out. With TP-Link you can host the Omada SDN app on your own hardware for free so that saves a bit of money. But I believe both Unifi and Omada allow for "standalone" modes and if that's your aim, then yeah get which ever is cheaper you won't be upset with either brand. If you forced me to pick a brand, I lean UniFi, I like the design more. My entire house still runs UniFi.
      The Omada ecosystem is still young but growing. I continue to sell UniFi to clients because it's a more complete ecosystem, as in, sensors, cameras, switches, routers, nvr, wifi, etc etc. Whereas, currently, Omada is only networking.

  • @amateurwizard

    You should change the antenna power to maximum instead of medium. I've seen this on less than industrial devices such as this cause huge differences in performance. Because of the complexity and knock on effects of changing antenna gain in relation to Wi-Fi this setting could be 3 pages of extremely technical detail summarised as 3 options.

      @jackslater2096 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @amateurwizard
      @amateurwizard ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jackslater2096 Yes 👍, and it's recommended not to stand directly underneath. It's like asking someone to have a 1hr meeting where you whisper into each other's ears, it's not the same as being a normal distance apart and talking normally.

    You're running OpenSpeedTest in k8s I'm guessing? I do this, and I get half speed uploads if I connect through the ingress (tcp 80), but if I connect directly to the service (tcp 3000), I'm able to get full up/down speeds

      Docker. Can't use firefox for 10Gbps and over. Safari, Edge, Brave, and that other one are recommended for using OpenSpeedTest.

    Great follow-up, its really nice you got it to pass 1000mpbs on download, you should be able to do it on upload also, not sure what's restricting you, could be firmware of the AP.
    I really hope in time ubiquity send you a U6 enterprise + 2.5gb switch POE (enterprise), would be great to see how it runs on your network. I can tell you that couple of other youtubes are breaking the 1000mpbs on download and upload with ubiquity.
    - LonTV "Breaking the 1 Gig WiFi Barrier with the Unifi U6 Enterprise - Wifi 6E Access Point" @583sec, 1531mpbs download and 1291mpbs upload.
    - Mactelecom Networks "Unifi U6 Enterprise Review" @426sec, 1132mpbs download 1665mpbs upload.

    • @SPXLabs
      @SPXLabs  ปีที่แล้ว

      I want the upload to be like what they have. That would be dope!

    • @xorkon
      @xorkon ปีที่แล้ว

      @SPX Labs it might be the limitation of your drive either on the upload end or the receiving end. At that kind of speed, many drives with smaller cache will run out of cache quickly. Also, you can always conduct a large single multi-gig file transfer between your laptop and your server to test the wireless throughput.

    Thank you for providing this video, but all that packaging is not an "upgrade," it's just future waste. It's very backward to include all the foam &c when a few pieces of cleverly designed cardboard would suffice. I know it's an expensive item, but don't you think the expenses should be toward the actual functional item, not the frivolous proto-waste? Aren't we past oohing and ahhing over bulk and onto being impressed by clever efficiency? And yeah, this is definitely part of the product & company evaluation.

    • @SPXLabs
      @SPXLabs  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I see where you are coming from and it does make sense and yes I do agree that I'd rather see more investment into the functionality of the item. I'm already changing how "what's in the box" presentation is done and am going to shy away from packaging mostly in the future, in favor of condensing video length. Still trying to figure out how I'd like to approach it.

      In Thailand, fiber internet provider is so competitive, you can get 1000/300Mbps just $17 monthly. No data limit or anything, use as much as you want. And the coverage is nearly the whole country, if you didn’t live in jungle or smth there always be some fiber.😂
