    I have to give a shout out to guitar pro 5! I used gp5 to learn how to play guitar from scratch, waaay back in the day, by downloading tabs to my favorite songs and learning them
    Great tool to learn guitar, even if you never picked it up before like me
    15 years later.. I recently bought the 7.5 upgrade 👌 😎

    I have another suggestion for Guitar Pro Tab display. Everyone learns faster when color is used. Rocksmith uses these colors for strings. DR strings also sells a set of strings using these colors. 1st string - purple, 2nd string - green, 3rd string - orange, 4th string - blue, 5th string - yellow, 6th string - red.

    Okay, so I just recently bought GP 7.5. I am looking to eventually hook up my guitar as you mentioned in the video. However, I have no clue on where to go or what type of "External Sound card" I may or may not need. (Meaning type of computer).
    So do you have links or recommendations?
    Option #2 that I am seriously considering is the Fretlight wireless guitar. Would I still need to have an "External Sound card" for that unit?
    Option #3 the Fishman TriplePlay. But again would I need an "External sound Card"?
    I have been out of the music game for over a decade and I need to get up to speed. So far I have really enjoyed the GP 7.5 and am very happy that I got it. There are so many things to learn. I got lucky enough to find all my old tabs and have starting putting them into GP 7.5. I won't lie, there are some hits and misses and defiantly a learning curve. But I really, really enjoy this.
    This is way more in-depth then Tabit, CoolEdit Pro and one other one I used.
    Well thank you for making these videos. Please keep making them and sharing.

    • @Trellsy
      @Trellsy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      FYI Focusrite solo does not work. you can get a sound but it is unusable because of latency. It also appears to have two sounds the clean guitar AND the Line In sound with the signature presets. I have tried tweaking for a few hours and have given up. The video above is more than a little misleading unfortunately. The Focusrite works well for Reaper btw with no obvious latency.

    • @zbearicus96
      @zbearicus96 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Trellsy I had a similar high fixed latency problem with my MOTU M4 and Behringer X32, both of which worked fine for real-time monitoring with modeling and effects through Cubase and Studio One. The issue is apparently with GP and sample rates other than 44.1 ks/s. I changed my interfaces from 48 ks/s to 44.1 ks/s with 64 sample buffers and now GP Line-In/Amp Modeling works perfectly. I reported this discovery to Arobas - hopefully they will find an easy fix. I usually run my interfaces at 48 ks/s. Both interfaces use USB 2.0 and I run Win 10 / i7 machines with SSDs and > 8 GB RAM.

    Great vid! Ok, so I'm in... this convinced me to drop a couple of bucks for a Focusrite Scarlett Audio Interface (I'm assuming this is referred to as the external sound card).
    My question is at 0:36, you mention "also an incredible backing track player." I'd be super-psyched to use GP, load up a backing track, connect my guitar through the Focusrite, set some artist presets and have at it but I couldn't find either a tutorial or doc section(after searching the user guide) for how to load up a backing track. Perhaps you using "backing track" to mean a specific downloaded project from MySongBook.com?
    Any help would be appreciated as this seems to be my dream setup for practicing and having fun! Is this worth a separate more in depth setup tutorial or am I just missing something?

    • @stenio123
      @stenio123 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is no specific backing track, just load up any Guitar Pro project which has multiple tracks like the one he is showing, and you can selectively "mute" any of the tracks you want to take on. Doing that allows you to make it as backing track if you want, the tracks are at the bottom of the screen.

    Hi.I just started using the latest version of Guitar Pro. Please help in using the scale tool with a line-in guitar. In your video, the software is detecting your guitar as seen by the flashing notes in the scale tool. However, the notes are not flashing in mine even though I can hear my guitar that is being detected in the software.

      What you are seeing on the virtual fretboard in the demo are the notes being played by GP from the selected guitar track - not what David is playing. He could disconnect his guitar and you would see the same dynamic display of notes. The music is encoded as MIDI data and can be interpreted by the program and displayed as notes on the virtual fretboard. He happens to play perfectly so it looks like the virtual fretboard is responding to his playing, but it is not.

      Your music store doesn't call them "soundcards". They're called, Audio Interfaces. ;) The most popular inexpensive ones are by PreSonus and Scarlett. I recommend PreSonus because you get a copy of Studio One Artist for FREE with the interface. Depending on whether you have USB 2 or USB 3, determines which interface you buy. Expect to pay $99 to $150 for a PreSonus or Scarlett interface. I recommend a 2-channel interface and they're in that price range above. Then you can leave your electric guitar plugged in and a vocal mic in the other. If you plan on using any pedals or an acoustic guitar, then you'll need a DI Box. Best one for the money is Behringer Ultra DI for $45. Plug your guitar (electric or acoustic) into the DI with a guitar cable, and with a microphone cable connect the DI to the audio interface. The Behringer is an active DI that can provide up to -40 dB padding, which you need if you want to run a high gain signal into your computer. Without the DI, you can damage the audio interface with an overloaded signal and it will be clipped and sound bad in your computer. The DI converts your guitar's high impedance unbalanced signal into a low impedance balanced signal and it will make your acoustic guitar sound much more natural. That Behringer also has a button for simulating a 4x12" speaker cabinet. An audio interface, an active DI box, a microphone cable and you'll be set.

    The documentation really is lacking for this feature both from GP and the public. Thanks for the introduction but I still don't get how to use it, let alone its full potential. I can't get the thing to even change my guitar tone even though the track tone is changed.
    I bought S-gear a month before I realized there was so much more potential in GP, and then kicked myself thinking I wasted $100. But after trying to get GP give me different sounds based on intuitive efforts (because that's all I have to go on), I gave up and went back to S-gear.
    If you ever decide to make a very in-depth video on this, that would be greatly appreciated, and it would be the only one in existence!
    P.S. It could be that nobody is documenting it because they can't figure it out either, or that feature is just not very good.

    I have no idea why he is saying "Sound card" . In the world today on Earth, in this universe, It is called an Interface. I have never in my life heard anybody call an interface a sound card. you can get a Presonus interface or a Focusrite Solo for 110.00 dollars from Amazon or Reverb or wherever you buy your gear. You need that to do what he is doing OR to record music from your instrument to the PC. Those interfaces are compatiblwe with MAC and PC. They also come with recording studio software. Presonus has their own software and the Focusrite is packaged with other stuff. All interfaces come with that recording studio software but it is not Guitar Pro 7.5 of course. These interfaces have gotten quite popular with the increase of Streaming and podcasting. The interfaces have XLR hookups for a Microphone and a plugged instrument. And you can spend thousands on one if you want to record 20 incoming feeds at once if ya want.

      Not even close. You have to programm a Engine that recognize the note you play. thats 99% of the rocksmith code. so dont talk shit man. This is just like a VST plugin. To make a good programm you might need a A.I. that also recognize alle bends harmonics etc correctly. Rocksmith is really not working that well. yousician is much better but shitty song library.

    The business people behind guitar pro sucks. When I purchase guitar pro 6 somewhere in 2016. There is totally no news or indications that new version is coming out.. Basically the software is sitting on their website quietly for years. Seems like a cool software so I bought it still. Few mths later Boomed... Guitar pro 7 is out. I felt cheated. So I wrote in to ask them. And they said, all they could do is give me some discount for upgrading to version 7. If I knew version 7 is coming out.. I will never buy version which is there for years.. And they didn't even have the courtesy to give us recent buyer a free upgrade to version 7. So I amd not using that piece of software ever since cos this is damn right wrong way to treat your customer.

      Just bought this through a different video he just plugged his guitar in and started immediately writing tabs as he played, I plugged jammy guitar in and it doesn’t work..
      I then tried to plug my acoustic guitar in via an audio interface and guess what’ it still doesn’t work.
      What’s the point of paying 65 quid for an app that doesn’t work however this supposedly great guitar app works great if you’ve got and can play a midi keyboard or if, you can write music.
      I won’t be recommending it
