    Yikes turns out the video didn't render correctly at 15:26 so please just imagine a clip of Ace Ventura driving around! Or do you have a more relevant clip in mind?!

    #1 on your list and it should never ever move is to have a very accommodating and understanding spouse!

    Quite a long video but if you really want to get better this stuff is gold. I went from a 15 to a 10 and am now looking at getting to the next level. It takes a lot of discipline and everything you say with regard to the off-course stuff is spot on!

    Your videos are great! I struggle with the mental part of my game and your videos give me hope. Haha. “Artist, not gorilla” is my new swing thought.
    I truly think the sky is the limit for your channel! Keep pumping videos out!

      Thanks dude! That means a lot - really appreciate you taking the time to comment 😃
      And glad the videos are helpful! "Artist not gorilla" is one of my favs too 😅
      What kind of mental game stuff gets in your way?

    Great content! It is not easy to make a 40 minute video both helpful and entertaining, but you did it. Thanks!

    Thanks for your great content, Manu! Enjoy how you cover a much broader range of topics beyond other channels that are focused more on swing mechanics. I'm also in the Bay Area. Would you be open to sharing who your coach is? Really looking forward to the part 2 video!

      Glad you like it!!! And thanks for the positive feedback re: going beyond swing mechanics 🙂
      My coach is actually in Utah now, but he comes to San Jose every couple months though so I book lessons then. Do you mind dropping me an email (upbeatgolfer@gmail) and I can share his details with you?

    Here's what you got that lured me in - no click bait "quick fix swing tip", great mental game - your video on calming down was GREAT. I've been calling it monkey brain (picture a chimp screaming and jumping around!). So second lure in was great advice on thinking about the game. I will stop telling myself I suck at putting. Third, your humor is a little dorky and I LOVE it. I could go on but I'm worried you'll strain your shoulder patting yourself on the back like your PGA pro chipping stats... 🙂

      Haha thanks for keeping me humble 😅
      And thank you for the detailed feedback! It's really helpful to know what resonates with folks. (And you don't suck at putting, you're just in the process of mastering it 🙂)

    Do you chip with regular balls at home or foam Balls? Can give a little more detail?

    • @upbeatgolfer
      @upbeatgolfer  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you! Really appreciate the positive feedback :)
      Re: chipping - I use regular balls but have tried foam balls as well. I'm in a spot where I'm pretty close to my net (~10-15ft), and if I fly a shot over the net it's not too bad. (Or at least it hasn't been too bad YET.) Foam balls also work because the key things this works on are ball striking and clubface control, which you can see with foam balls.
      I use regular balls because a) I don't break anything, b) it gives me a good feel for chipping on the course, and c) I can work on adjusting spin and height pretty easily.
      Hope this helps! Lmk if you have more questions - and would love to hear what you decide to do with your setup!

    What are you chipping off of a mat? Something from birdie ball?

    • @upbeatgolfer
      @upbeatgolfer  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great catch! I'm not actually chipping off the mat, but the carpet next to it. And I use regular golf balls (very carefully 😅).

  • @darunia484
    @darunia484 ปีที่แล้ว

    Any chipping drills or games you would recommend?

    • @upbeatgolfer
      @upbeatgolfer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! For the indoors net I like going through the various pockets in order, and then changing trajectory (this can be dangerous when you get to low shots 😅)
      Outdoors I also like to vary type of shot (trajectory + spin mostly) from shot to shot once I've done the technical work for the day. I also work on hitting the same targets with both my 56 and 60 wedges to build feel for contact, spin, and roll-out.
      I also make sure to spend a decent chunk of time on doing my full routine for a few shots including choosing landing spot + roll out, making a practice swing, and then hitting the shot. This has been really helpful!
      Disclaimer here: I'm not big on drills so these simple ones are enough for me - you might have a different preference. Would love to hear what you're working on!

      Nice! What do you think is the one thing you can do for the highest returns?

    • @mikeslimjimlim
      @mikeslimjimlim ปีที่แล้ว

      @@upbeatgolfer Arccos says in comparison to a scratch golfer i am: -3.6 driver -5.3 approach -2.8 short -2.3 putting strokes. so easiest return for me, fine tuning an iron and short wedge swing that gets me good enough results. and choosing something more accurate off the tee. Basically maybe not hitting it so hard and dial it back since i have the length. Closer proximity shots will have easier chips and putts and i think that will all fall into place even though i dont practice those things. Sorry going through the video now actually. Probably breaking the old rules or barriers I have with the new to yours. Also accountability with myself and my goals

    • @upbeatgolfer
      @upbeatgolfer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like you have a plan! One thing that worked for me re approach shots was choosing smarter targets instead of shooting for the pin (or trying to be super accurate each time). I saw quick results from that vs the swing changes I tried to make - might work for you too?
      Thanks for the comment! It made me realize that, hilariously, every time I watch the Pros I feel like I need to improve my swing, and then when I play a tournament and get smoked by regular Joes with average swings I realize it ain't my swing 😅

    • @mikeslimjimlim
      @mikeslimjimlim ปีที่แล้ว

      @@upbeatgolfer yeah I’m playing with the lower single digit handicappers in my league, and they don’t it hit farther than me (some are 50-70 yards less on drives) and have like you said average Joe swings but they score really low consistently!
      I gotta figure out what barriers my subconscious is putting as i think there are key things that are holding me back

    • @upbeatgolfer
      @upbeatgolfer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally. It's liberating when you figure one out!
      Some things I look for are what gets me worried (like people talking while I set up) or an experiment I don't want to try (like just going to the range with a putter, or playing without driver one day) and they can sometimes point me in the right direction. Would love to hear what you find if you're open to sharing! Feel free to email me if you don't want to share via a comment (but no pressure obvs).
