Admittedly, nice nether transition. Also, for your information, the thing you called glass is ice. Also the reason the clouds give wool is because often builders use wool to build clouds
4:21 I hear lava bubbling around you, could have easily ended in you dropping into it. You got lucky. There's a phrase popular in Minecraft, "Never dig straight down". You dug striaght down without falling into lava or a large pit or ravine. I don't recommend doing this too often. Digging in a staircase pattern is safer and leaves you with a way to get back up.
Doing large detonations for large projects taught me a bucket of water is pretty good once you have at least aqua affinity, water will give you something to swim up or solidify magma. I would have to quickly dig shafts perimeters and water curtains so that I could carpet bomb and cut a neat hole, and once you got a full kit, a watered hole can be dug down worry-free.
When Steve was announced me and my brother were going through a phase where since we were quarantined, we would just play Minecraft for hours upon hours. So that fateful morning I genuinely couldn’t decide weather I should be laughing or crying
His neutral special, his building, crafting and mining works very similarly to- No, much better than I envisioned it back when he was still a laughable pipedream pick and I am so happy about it.
9:37 Actually it does. In multiplayer people can griefing other players by making traps in their houses by exploding or a pit. Like Steve's final smash for example.
Here's a tip from one crafter to another: if the game loses purpose due to no goal, make your own. For example I intend to completely renovate a random village turning those basic houses into quality living spaces.
This is me playing Animal Crossing. I feel like I always need a goal to play towards, be it renovating my island or collecting all the seasonal bugs or whatever. Without that, it kinda just gets boring.
If you can't come up with a goal for yourself, download a modpack, or adventure map. Java is the superior version because of the community Minecraft built up over its ten years. There's no shortage of amazing mods or maps. The only thing we're short on is people willing to pull mods into newer versions. So many mods stopped being developed after 1.7.10 and 1.12.2, and we are worse off for it.
@@Antonio-is2cn yeah Ive gone around on sepiroth, his up smash is still a bit broken but pyra and moreso mythra are still unbelievable unfun to fight against.
Worth noting that, since Steve's taunts are multiplayer gestures, he knows what he's doing in Smash and considers the other fighters to be PvP opponents. Not just that, but they're *friendly* gestures (yes even the teabag), which means Steve is one of the most friendly and humble fighters in Smash.
Putting Steve into smash bros is the smartest thing they did. It shouldn’t be surprising or considered weird that they put the character from the best selling game of all time in a game that is all about putting players from different games together.
I’m surprised people don’t know this, especially since Sakurai mentioned it in his video about Steve. The “t-bag” taunt isn’t a t-bag, in Minecraft that’s a gesture you make to say “hello” or to say “I’m friendly” when you’re in a multiplayer server. If someone walks up to you and you want to team up, say hi, or communicate you’re not a threat, crouching and uncrouching rapidly is just the thing that’s developed within the community as a way to say that. It’s even called the universal sign of peace online. The other taunt that isn’t him eating serves the same function but for people farther away, since jumping and punching makes you more obvious.
It's rare that I see someone rep sonic so much and I'm always happy to see it. Now, if Sonic could launch a game successfully for once in his life (looking at YOU COLORS ULTIMATE) I'd be even happier.
Steve was my most wanted character. I dreamed about what his moveset would be every day. And how Sakurai and the team made him work is better than I ever Imagined. That Felling makes me happier than I can ever describe.
He was my most wanted character too. I was in a stream (insert user here) and we were literally joking about Steve and then next thing you know he's in and we all got hyped
I remember when I firstly saw Snake in Smash, Metal Gear is the best franchises ever made imo, I loved that series so much that I used to thunk of possible moveset for him but I knew that Smash is aimed at children so it probably wouldn't have got a character from a more mature series but when I saw him in Brawl I got so hyped, it felt amazing, and then it happened again when they put Cloud in, and now there even is Sephiroth. Sadly Dante didn't make it in, but still I got a lot if characters I liked, Ultimate offered me Byleth, Terry, Kazuya and Sephiroth, the only thing I wish was never made is Min Min but stiff can't be perfect
@Weirdo no, there was a cheat code in brawl where if you input down taunt - up taunt - down taunt really quickly you could change to ZSS. At least I think that's the code, I haven't played Brawl in a while and even then I never played Samus.
Watching this has genuinely given me hope for the next game that might come after Ultimate. Like, if they just went back to a smaller roster, but totally changed up everyone’s move set to reflect their games, like they did already with Steve, I would be so down.
Back when i saw the trailer, my impression of him was "oh, thats a funny meme character, i can see people liking this" to "this is one of the most well designed characters in not only fighting games, but gaming."
Honestly dude, as enjoyable as these videos are, your editing is fucking insane, ridiculously entertaining! It blows my mind how consistently funny you are, and how charming these videos are Even when I have NO interest in the topic of the video, I still always watch them because you find a way to present it in a way that keeps me engaged You rule so hard dude :)
i just love the juxtaposition of the character with one of the simplest visual character design also having one of the most complex gameplay designs in the entire game. Steve is perfection.
pause because the fact that Alax and his younger brother now have icons of their gaming youth both in smash bros at the same time is the most precious thing i have ever heard
I was hesitant to expect Steve for a while but I definitely didn't expect to see him early in the smash ultimate dlc. And he is one of my mains. If he had a back special, maybe with a bow and arrow, then I'd say he would be broken.
My favorite part of this video is Alax thinking that one of Steve’s moves doesn’t work like that in Minecraft, and then the stunned silence when it works EXACTLY like that in Minecraft
5:03 This gave me chills, it's so true. They could have put tons of things, like using a bow, a trident, potions, chests, water buckets (that should definitely be a tech animation), enderpearl (that could also be a roll animation, maybe ?), snowballs, golems and stuff But they managed to make a moveset that feels exactly like Minecraft, using stuff that almost everyone is familiar with. They didn't put a character from a game in smash. They put a character that represents you playing that game in smash. His smash gameplay is like playing Minecraft. Even his playstyle is like Minecraft, setting stuff that allow you to defeat monsters more easily with the tool you also created. I wanted to talk about the battles of his classic mode route and how accurate to the original game they are too. The spirits battles aren't as much as them tho. I think both Steve and Sora derserve the place of the last amash dlc, but putting Steve before Sora was a clever choice, breaking the internet with the hypest reaveal (looking at Twitter's fall), bringing back the attention lost with Byleth and Min Min (who are cool characters, don't get me wrong, just not really hype compared to the 9 others) and giving even more hope fo the 4 last dlc while still making Sora's possible inclusion uncertain (because of Disney). The opposite wouldn't work as well. I think I said everything I wanted to. Thanks for this awesome video, I love it. ❤
The crouching up and down is actually a common gesture to signify being friendly! More than a teabag is to show you are either new or don't want to fight. Before it was the sword block combined with crouching too. Then got changed for the combat update. And jumping and swinging are just ways to try to get spotted by your friends you pay with! It does look neat and fun for how it works and I really enjoy it. Also your discussion about saying that you want an end goal. Had you ever imagined crafting your endgoal? Even if you want a straight path. I understand you find it bizarre to do something and what would be the purpose of it. Like, why build a house or a city or anything when you could just put a bed in the open with a light? But as always I am glad to see your stuff! Hopped in to see the video to see the video! Thank you Alax, as always!
the crounching up and down was already a thing, it meant the exactly same thing as the sword, only got more popular when the combat update came and sword defense stopped being a thing
Steve was my dream character for Smash and seeing all of the love and dedication Sakurai and his team but into his moveset is incredible. It felt amazing to experience what it is like to have your number one most wanted character join the battle!!!
great video , I think you understood the rough spirit of the game : simple on the outside (and even a bit boring for some players) but EXTREMELY deep at the core to the point that you couldn't comprehend how deep it is if you didn't stick with the game for a while
Imagine a nether map where Steve's sleeping animation is changed and instead of sleeping, he's standing crouched on the bed staring into his opponent's soul. "You thought I would fall for the old exploding bed in the nether trick?"
@@themanysirs1814 The video might've been a premiere, so perhaps it wasn't viewable yet. Either that or some people like to predict things before watching in general.
Steve and co is probably the most unique fighting game characters people will probably see for a while. Everything about them breaks what would be considered possible in a fighting game, and the fact that it is implemented well, not perfect, but well, shows the dedication the smash team have. I particularly love Steve and Co's playstyle. Mind you I am far from an expert, put they seem to be very much some form a control fighter. As in they need to quickly determine the pace of the fight to there advantage. While that may seen as a no brainer to all characters, Steve and Co are especially equipped to handle that in their move set. I especially love it when a good Steve sets up a bunch of block a they forward smash their opponent into a rubgolberge machine of block, culminating in them somehow being spiked into the smash zone.
Steve's moveset in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate brilliantly mirrors Minecraft's complexities, and your analysis highlights the challenges and unique playstyle he brings to the game.
Steve STILL looks like a fucking mod to me dude. Of all the characters in Ultimate, he will always look the most out of place, in the best way possible. "AH! A CREEPER!" *slaps Cow*
The big problem with steve is that even battlefield or omega stages aren’t functionally because of the different tools used. One where he uses a shovel to dig is objectively better for him than one where he collects resources with an axe or pickaxe
This is the result of logging, digging, mining, swimming, climbing all kinds of slopes, surfaces and more, building things and tools and many more activities FOR YEARS... and it paid off for Steve. Good for the creative cube man. XD The power of the creativity and freedom.
"Why do the clouds on Magicant give wool?" Before they added concrete in v1.12, wool blocks were the easiest way to get custom colored blocks in Minecraft. Plus they're like one of the only blocks in the game which are soft and fluffy. Minecraft players just like building fake clouds out of wool I guess. Even the Super Mario Bros crossover world for Minecraft (which you get for free by buying the Wii U or Switch version of the game) has clouds made of wool.
Btw, Minecraft has end goals. So, you can "beat" the game. But you don't have to. You can basically do whatever you want. Some people just like to build. For example, there is a server currently where a lot of people together are building the entirety of "Middle Earth" from "The Lord of The Rings". There are people that try to beat the game as fast as possible. Some people just play survival mode forever and build their own world (houses, landscape and so on). Some people like to build working machines with "Redstone". Some people just like to fight each other in mini games (like Mario Party for example) on "Player vs Player" servers (online) and some people just like to modify the game with Mods. The game is still getting updates, by the way (for free).
You know what's funny, the part where you can ignite TNT with your fits can probably be seen as another reference to when before flint and steel was implemented into the game, you would be able to set TNT off just by right-clicking it.

I think he was playing on that trope lol. Note the zoom in on the "lava bubbling" text in the bottom right
Doing large detonations for large projects taught me a bucket of water is pretty good once you have at least aqua affinity, water will give you something to swim up or solidify magma.
I would have to quickly dig shafts perimeters and water curtains so that I could carpet bomb and cut a neat hole, and once you got a full kit, a watered hole can be dug down worry-free.

It's also a game that represents the 2010's in Smash Bros rather well!
Steve changing the landscape of gaming, ain't that poetic.
Here's a tip from one crafter to another: if the game loses purpose due to no goal, make your own. For example I intend to completely renovate a random village turning those basic houses into quality living spaces.
Either that or pick up speedrunning
This is me playing Animal Crossing. I feel like I always need a goal to play towards, be it renovating my island or collecting all the seasonal bugs or whatever. Without that, it kinda just gets boring.
Hi
That or find new ways to build a red stone machine.

It's sort of like how, in real life, many cultures have bowing as a sign of respect or even a simple greeting.

My favorite part of this video is Alax thinking that one of Steve’s moves doesn’t work like that in Minecraft, and then the stunned silence when it works EXACTLY like that in Minecraft
5:03
This gave me chills, it's so true.
They could have put tons of things, like using a bow, a trident, potions, chests, water buckets (that should definitely be a tech animation), enderpearl (that could also be a roll animation, maybe ?), snowballs, golems and stuff
But they managed to make a moveset that feels exactly like Minecraft, using stuff that almost everyone is familiar with.
4:21 He has a luck level of 9000+. To casually dig down and found diamonds, what a madlad
I honestly think that Steve’s final smash was inspired by early and mid 2010’s videos. It just carries that essence of those videos.
the anvil makes sense beacause of traps made by players ingame and its physics in game as well. very common trap in minecraft.
I wish Steve's sleeping animation would blow up whenever he's in more of those lava-ry hell like maps.

"Why do the clouds on Magicant give wool?"
Before they added concrete in v1.12, wool blocks were the easiest way to get custom colored blocks in Minecraft.
I love the amount of passion you put into your videos. It feels like when I rant to someone about excellent character design in movies or books.
