i was Disneyland CA thanksgiving 2008 and they had it all decorated up like this, its one of my fav rides at the park , nowhere on God's earth can touch this park, not even the phony french rip off, GOD BLESS AMERICA & WALT DISNEY!, Thank you for so many memorable summer days & nights!
Not too scary, but it might toughen your kid up a bit for scarier rides. To be honest I think anybody over 6 can handle it. Nothing scary just cool effects mostly, and the seats are close so they have no reason to be scared.
TIPS from past experiences I must share!Long lines at Disneyland can be a great experience as long as ur not with your parents or other family that makes lines seem longer and you feel awkward at the same time.Family trips=Bad time! a no no! Go with some good friends or a girlfriend/boyfriend get some snacks gossip or talk about good times or whatever while ur in line every part of the line will be memorable. The Haunted Mansion along with the Pirate ride are my two favorite rides at Disneyland. But I don't care for the X-mas version (Nightmare before X-mas) of the Haunted Mansion ride.
Yes, Disneyland changes the Haunted Mansion every year to Nightmare Before Christmas for all of Halloween and Christmas. The ride is down in September and January to do so. Only in California actually.
Fact: Paul Frees was the original voice of the ghost host but for this version, they had to hire someone to do the new speil but they wanted the new guy to do the original but he said to leave it as original. :) Love the ride when its not Halloween/Christmas due to this version scared the shit out of me back in Nov 2003. :) I got so scared after the stretching room, i left through the emergency exit.
In 2006 I went to Disneyland for Thanksgiving and I went on this ride twice while I was there. The first time the ride stopped at 7:32. Let me tell you, Jack is SOOOOO annoying when you are stuck there for literally 10 minutes. He is also loud too. The second time we got stuck during the ballroom scene for the same amount of time, but less annoying.
They should just keep it like this. It must be such a pain for them to go back and forth. I've never been on the original one and while I've heard it's awesome, I think I like this one much better.
@mrthebrickmaster yup you are right. and if you look closely, the pumpkin faces, looks like the original ones. example: rollo rumkin face(first bust from left), has long eyebrows, and the same is for the pumkin version. sorry for my bad english, i'm italian.
Am I the only one that kind of enjoys the lines? I mean, you're in frigging disneyland and one of the things that makes Disneyland so great is the people. It would be so boring and depressing if there were no people at a theme park. Besides the wait only makes the ride sweeter.

i guess when the people who redid the haunted mansion did a survey to see what would replace the ravens, i bet almost every answer was, "VAMPIRE TEDDY!" "VAMPIRE TEDDY!"

They should just make a standalone NBC ride, like Peter Pan's Flight but Coffins instead of ships. Because most of the time I go to Disneyland is in the winter, and I haven't rode the original in a long time.

Corey Burton does the voice over of the narrator/Ghost Host. He's the one still alive today who replaced the late Paul Frees who WAS the original voice over for the unseen character. I want 2 work with this guy (Corey Burton). He's so funny and cool.

I'm 14 never been on it my mom has been on it...I've been on some scary rides that weren't that scary but scary enough for little ones....

Better than the original, IMO. Still, I haven't been on this version since I was 5.
I always imagine what it'd be like. And if it'll happen, I'd LOVE to see weeping angels, and I've always wanted to see things like Daleks physically.

I think the best version of this was in 2001 but it's still great today!
