Well bless your little heart. You do realize that weather is not climate? And climates change over long periods of time? And the climate that you live in is not a harbinger of whether climates in other regions are exhibiting trending change? But you keep living in your little world where it rains and shines for you as much as always and so there can't be climate change and why are people complaining that droughts or floods are becoming more severe and frequent over the decades when your tiny world feels the same? See what you want.

We don't need an EPA to hold polluters accountable. It was illegal to dump trash and chemicals before the EPA. We already have a system for civil suits when corporations pollute and cause health issues. We don't need an organization, working from a building built with marble imported from Italy to tell us how to conduct business. The EPA should have its headquarters in Alaska, so they can protect the environment.

Two prime examples why we need the EPA. However!! You vote people into office . That want to get rid of regulations. Then the EPAl doesn't have any control over what companies do to save or make money. Those two examples you gave. Show exactly what happens when you have deregulating. You don't value health or safety. Then continue to vote for deregulating. Because Palestine is what you get!! Congress is the one who makes and passes law. Which goes back to your Representatives and Senators. Who either voted for or against deregulation. You can't be mad at the EPA for following the laws Congress has made.

So you're basing your knowledge of the efficacy of EPA spending on a single project back in the 80's? Brilliant.
If this dump was a superfund site (CERCLA, enacted in 1980) then you might be interested in knowing that Ronald Reagan's EPA administrator, Anne Gorsuch Burford - the dear mother of SCOTUS justice Neil Gorsuch and an avid environmental regulations hater, was astoundingly horrible at her job. Under her regime only 2% of sites got cleaned up. In fact, she was so inept that a congressional investigation was done and the amendments to the act in 1986 added minimum cleanup requirements as well as legislation to shut down the ability to do the sweetheart, corrupt deals that were seen during Reagan admin.

@@sabinereynaudsf If they were in compliance, than the director would have said they were in compliance and they would be neutral toward the ruling. But, that's not what Mr. Regan said. He said that they were unhappy with the ruling and they weren't going to evaluate whether they are in compliance or not. They are just going to wait until they are sued and go down swinging on our dime. When Trump gets elected, I hope he takes a more permanent bite out of this rogue organization so we don't have to waste all our money putting the Federal EPA in their place.

The reason why Mfume doesn't care about profit margins is because he is a Socialist and doesn't understand economics. We can't have a modern way of life without pollution, but eliminating the pollution will cause a decrease in the money required to generate our current health standards. Look at it this way - if you live near a coal mine and you don't have any way to move, then you can either develop the coal which causes pollution or you can live in poverty and die from not being able to go to the doctor. Everything - including regulation, has a cost. Why don't the Democrats ever look at the balance that must be achieved. Maybe the power should reside closest to those most affected rather than with ivory-tower, Washington bureaucrats.

I think EPA Administrator, Michael Regan seems to be sincere and is being treated respectfully by both parties, well the reps that are there for more than to give a 5 minute slam, bam n run right back out the door. And if you asked AOC (D) or the bald graph guy (R) they probably couldn't answer a quiz on what they just said.....
Unfortunately, both parties vote the way their lobbyist's money/funding tell them to.
He shut down the old grandma in yellow(R), she didn't know what to say when he gave her a valid answer to her expected "gotcha" question. Then he did it again and offered to meet n discuss...
Then the next 5 minute rep, in red cold water creek, Manhattan project (D), she stumbled through the speech she was handed to read. I've seen her before, she is another slated to be a rising star. Who comes in does their 5 minute prepared "speech" and then right back out the door....
Overall, mostly just an endless parade of a Demoncrat then a Republican both just slinging bullsheeet!!!
At least about 10 % of the speakers actually had a serious reason, questions, purpose to be there...
However like most of these "hearings" reps from both parties, Redumblicans n Dummycrats are 5 minute warriors reading something handed to them just before they walk in to do their puppet show....
I never really can understand why a normal someone, non politician becomes a die hard, lifetime party loyalist??? The type of people that have never met someone from the other party that they didn't hate nor someone from their team/party that they would even criticize! Well if it is between two crookiticians from the same party.
