The Promethean Knight in Halo 5 is Dr. Tillson from Halo 4?? And also the Knight from Escalation AND the root cause for the Covenant and Prometheans to end up fighting???
And she is forced to suffer for eternity in that cell? Holy moly, this is a fate worse than death. It's a minor, but damn depressing revelation.

@@NickTemperistic It reminds me of that tale/thought experiment, if you replace all the planks on a ship, is it still the same ship? she was copied and had her original memories suppressed and compressed, I'd say it's still her now that she has regaine access to those memories.
@@mojowwwav4357 I thought the composer killed humans and used the remains for prometheans. I didn't know the person they were would be then trapped inside of the machine. So she's like a prisoner in her new body? Can't control what she does.

I disagree. The way they did them in halo 5 were so boring to fight. If they could somehow change the way they work I’ll give it a chance.
That ending revalation was unexpected... And peak.
The stories that interconnect with the games are amazing. There needs to be more like this and flipped around so you learn more about the story in the game but get more details in a book and vice versa. The feeling of the reveal on who this Promethean was was awesome.

Edit: This my new favorite Waypoint Chronicle, not only because I love Forerunners and this one focuses on a Promethean Knight; but because of the use of both visual and auditory assets that add to the atmosphere of the story, because of the character driven narrative, and because of the connection of different events along with the confirmation of the current status of a previously introduced character.

The Promethians deserve a comeback. Revamp the designs in halo infinite’s art style and polish their gameplay. Halo 5 improved them a lot on the knights but messed up the crawlers. They were so close to perfection, they just need one more shot
The Prometheans ruined Halo 4 and Halo 5 completely. Thry are all so lifeless and random and badly designed.
Please no. They already had two chances to make them fun but failed big time.

So, Tillson was the Knight that was trapped on Genesis in Halo 5. She was just regaining her memories from her previous life, all in vain due to the fact that she was imprisoned again, but this time in a cell, while she herself, as an AI consciousness, is trapped within a Knight’s frame. That’s pretty tragic. Especially with the fact that each composed consciousness is brought back again and again in different Knight frames after their previous ones are destroyed. A true living Hell that’s far worse than being turned into a Flood combat form.

I always read these first and listen after. This was honestly the best read yet. I could imagine the comic panels as TDS-009 was on Oban and Atkis IV and then once it pivoted to the cell in Halo 5, I knew exactly where it was. This was great in a whole new way because it tied so many visual elements into the story itself! It also leaves interesting lore implications open. Song of Retribution took the basically Promethean repair bay… so where is it now!

So long as they have a distinct "niche" in gameplay, or maybe I just think that because of Halo 4 and they are fine if the player has proper access to equipment, in 4 I always ran out so I never fought them in a classic dance, either potshotting them to death or rushing to the end of the level so I dont have to deal with most of them

Another great Halo Waypoint Chronicle! Hopefully the Prometheans make a return to the games! Definitely were a unique enemy that played differently than the Covenant / Banished! Even with the collapse / defeat of The Created in Halo Infinite, hopefully we'll find out what happened to them in the current or future storylines

From Halo 4 in Ivanoff Station, after Jul M'dama's followers help Didact by retrieving the composer in the Mantle's Approach and activated to kill Dr. Tillson and her scientists where Master Chief passed out and she become TDS-009.
Halo: Escalation # 16 where she fought M'dama's zealot elite to save Spartan Hoya from Fireteam Majestic after seeing the girl on Oban.
Halo 5 Guardians, where she was sealed in Genesis where 031 Exuberant Witness, Spartan Locke, Edward Buck (Halo 3: ODST), Vale, and Tanaka encounters her, then the calmly crawlers, rageful soldier, elite warrior along with a sleepy grunt, unescaped grunts and a calm grunt sitting to the corner, and unescaped hunter with a bad temper tantrum with his ion cannon to break but failed and they didn't know who she is until regaining her memories back until she recall her rank. 😳🤯!

Whoever's been writing and voicing all these chronicles need a raise, all of them, this one maybe more then others, have been absolute bangers
This puts so much context to what it's like inside the knight, how they operate and see the world. It's honestly more of a curse to become aware at this point as you are forever trapped inside a metal cage, unable to scream for help no matter how many times you're killed. Poor Tilson, I never thought much about that knight in that cell, but now, I can't help but feel bad for her and makes the outward actions of that knight in that cell make far more sense and depressing.
I honestly want the Prometheans to return, if not for this fact alone. Perhaps even have some knights on your side that have broken free and regained their original selves, looking for revenge, or freedom from this existence. Or even help those they have cared for in their previous life.
Haunting, and beautiful. I love how many threads you have managed to tie together in a satisfying manner.

That's it, I'm calling it now. Dr. Tillman is just the first to regain their humanity, the rest will, too.
The Flood will come back in one of the next mainline titles and it will be Modern Humans, Forerunners(even if it's just their tech), Ancient Humans via the prometheans getting their minds back, Sangheili, San' Shayum, Created, Banished, Endless, Lekgolo, and even the lowly Unggoy, all together they will fight the flood. Rejecting the sole control of the Mantle and sharing it among the galaxy, that will pass Precursors test. The hint for this was the flood allowing themselves to lose only when humans and the other species worked together in Halo 3.
God can we please bring them back

This bums me out cause 343 era halo lore does have some really cool stuff, but the execution was so poor. Now most 343 era stuff is sort of just dismissed. Like KILO 5 is awesome, and sets up Jul really well an then it goes nowhere. Or the idea of Jul's covenant using Forerunner tech like the Prometheans to fight and get revenge on humanity is cool. Plus the added info that these "new" Prometheans aren't perfect, and could be unstable just adds a bit more to it. 343 era halo kind of reminds me of the prequel trilogy in Star Wars, a good or interesting story/era told really poorly.

I'm glad this story exists, it acknowledges something the games always should have, but I still can't see these short stories as anything more than lore clutter. There's too much one-off detail for a specific character, event, etc, with no greater storytelling purpose than adding even more detail where it just isn't needed.
To use an example, there's a reason Halo 4 didn't give us backstory for Dr. Tillson; it just wasn't needed. You didn't need to know her life story in order to appreciate her role - and her incredible acting - in the game itself. The collateral damage of our hero trying to save the day, a part of deconstructing the Hero's Journey through the Master Chief. That's art, that's purpose.
These short stories just read off like narrative technical manuals, no greater purpose or idea. Just details.
Yeah... but as a Big Nerd lol, it's nice to read more lore details every once in awhile. Tillson was a simple character, but she was such a standout with her portrayal that it was nice for me to see her again. Even in such a tragic circumstance as this... which also serves to show what all the other Prometheans might be going through. Halsey drawing connections between the Prometheans and what she did in the Spartan program was another nice full-circle.

If you bring back the knights use their original design that you guys threw away in Halo 4 that was fully modeled out before it was redesigned it looks more like traditional Sentinels but like humanoid robots and they could Compact and roll themselves around as additional Sentinel like forces and they have a place to play in gameplay that isn't overly frustrating if you design them to work properly with the given sandbox and their stories can be interesting like this audiobook is I really enjoyed this story I hope that Halo gets to have more spin-offs or additional stories in the near future that involve things like this.
