If MES was to ever leave The Fall, he'd be a cracking tour guide.

According to Steve Hanley, the REAL reason Mark loved Edinburgh was because there was a pub every five minutes! And they had the best selection of class whiskys on the planet!

@scallyhunter Well, I'm still alive! Which is not to be sniffed at in the current climate. No gigs in over a year, so we're all getting stir crazy!
The 90's! Aye, those were the daze!

He says "well you know, they were too tight to knock the buildings down", which is a very tongue in cheek comment on Scots being tight fisted, ie: tight with their money etc

MES had a fine sense of humour, and you can tell it was said in a loving way.

you don't need to explain it dude, the English have been spreading that lie Worldwide for Centuries, we are far from being tight we just know how to spend our money properly not throwing it to the wind to see where it drops ✌️

@@thomasroberthillmclean4638 I hear that a lot. But the only time Ive ever heard of the Scottish being tight-fisted is when the Scottish complain about people calling them tight-fisted. There are stereotypes about every nation on earth, not many of them are accurate. It doesn't only happen to the Scottish. You lot just take it really fucking seriously and personally. I think Scrooge McDuck really fucked your nations head up lol

He says, "they're too tight to knock the buildings down".
I wish that really had been the case, especially in Glasgow, where they knocked down hundreds of tenement buildings in the city centre back in the 70's. Beautiful sandstone buildings they were....They just let them get run down.
