Nooooo Between you, Bernadette Banner, and Morgan Donner I feel an immense need to make myself a corset despite me having only made 1 garment ever. The cording looks so beautiful and if/when I make my own I definitely want corded panels like that. These corsets you amazing youtube ladies are making are so much more interesting then the one's I've bought for costumes. Also I said it before on Instagram but your pattern matching on the front is like pornographic.

The only way I ever could handle math was because in sewing it has a practical application - the only way I could get my head around abstract forms was in ... fabric construction...

That front hook on the corset was not just to hold the petticoats down, but also to hold the laces of the corset bellow the waist if you tied them in front yourself, as you would if you didn't have a maid to tie them for you (or if you were the maid 😆). All to keep the waist line as free from bulk as possible! I realize this is an old video by now, and maybe someone else already said this, but oh well 😆 This thing is a beaut! Making a victorian corset is a dream of mine, but it won't happen for a couple years more at least, so until then I'll be soaking up all the knowledge I can 🧐

Whoa. I love my rotary cutters and use them for _almost_ everything, but wow, I think I had a little adrenaline rush when you were trimming the boning channels at incredible speed (yeah, editing) after having done all that work to get there. Lol. I’ve made a number of proper corsets ( coutil + brocade, twill, steel and all that jazz) and I doubt I’ll ever have the guts to do that. Scissors only for me in close quarters. Anyway, it’s an absolutely beautiful piece! I’ve never been satisfied with the precision of my external boning channels. Much respect to you for making them look easy - and perfect.

I need to try and practice that technique before destroying - I mean - attempting my own corset. Accounting for the fabric "loss" while cording seems a bit tricky to my beginner brain. Admittedly, I still have a looong way to go before attempting to create a corset.

Ohhhh, you have created a sumptuously beautiful piece! 💞💞💞 Thank you for this inspiration!
(PS~ as a fellow Canuck 🇨🇦, I appreciate the mention of using both metric & imperial measurements while sewing.. I do the same, and used to think there was something wrong with me! ☺️)
