Big thanks for this! I was reluctant to crank on the bulb housing until I saw this. I bought the LED conversion from Nite Ize for both my Dad and I. We have matching D cell flashlights.....he hates birthdays, so it was something small, and this video made it easier for the install. Thanks!
That’s great to hear. And also great to hear that there is a good LED conversion out there. These mag lights are so awesome, but their light quality is terrible compared to the newer LED flashlights.
I just bought some replacement bulbs(PR13) for my 4 D cell maglite and my lantern-style (single 6 volt battery). 88 cents each at my local auto parts store.
This is the best comment I have ever seen in my life, I found a maglite 10 years ago and have been forgetting to buy a bulb, didn't know I had one this entire time.
@@alexboyne4819 My other maglite got a new led bulb this year. While blipping expensive, it won't break a filament when you drop it and it looks to be about 5 times brighter than the filament bulbs.
Wow thank you for that bit of info. I was looking at this to see what bulb to order and saw your comment. I looked under the foam and viola there was a spare bulb.....thank you.
@@winklepaul2 same here. Just replaced the OEM bulb with a liteXpress LXB530 LED from Amazon for $20. 530 lumens. WAY brighter than the OEM filament bulb. Should be more power efficient as well.
Yes; count me in also as appreciative for your information about the spare bulb. I just dissassembled the flashlight per the video, because it was dropped, and I thought that I wouild need to replace the original bulb. However, I am lucky; after inspecting the filament, which looked fine to me, and reassembling, the flashlight/torch is working~!~ I used an alcohol wipe to clean the bulb and lens disc. MNI TNX .

Mine came with a spare bulb under the foam under the bottom battery spring.

on mine that cap doesn't really want to come off. The flashlight is brand new. Any ideas on how to take it out? :D Thanks
Some extra help here. You can unscrew that entire top head piece
