    I hate my self for not making better investments in the 90s. I was barely 21 though. Didn't really know any better. Or what the future would hold. We thought $300 AK's, $79 mosins, and 1000 rounds for $129 was the norm and would last forever. Oh what a great time it was to be alive.

      Where are we now? What’s the new bargain to --> money guns right now? I’m thinking old smith and Wessons, etc... 20 years from now...

      Ahhh the wonders of hindsight if we all had it we would all be rich from buying early and selling now.

      I remember seeing a barrel of M-1 Garands and 1903 Springfields in my local gun shop for $129.00 each. That was around 1986. Literally barrels of them. They were slathered in cosmo, and I didn't want to touch them at the time. Oh for missed opportunities!

      I talk about this all the time. I also told people from 2016 to early 2020 we was living in the “new age great times”. I told anyone that would listen that we would look back at 350-500 ARs as we look back at 75 buck SKS and cheap AKs. My biggest regret is not getting an AK collection when they was cheap. I personally remember Npaps as cheap as 425 after rebate in this time frame. I did buy a Wasr in 2017 for $529. My biggest regret is not going and buying a Vepr the day the announcement was made.

      @RedRight Hand I’m sure he is taking about cheap surplus ammo and spam cans. 7.62x39- 7.62x54r, 5.45x39, Mauser ammo etc etc.

    A Wilson two tone Classic is on my bucket list. As a kid in the late 80’s through 90’s I read about Wilson Combat in G&A, back when G&A had good writers and when Wilson Combat was one of a few high end builders around. Other guns that may be harder to get down the road have taken priority but I’d like to cross a Wilson off of the list.

    Outstanding video, Chris. I have the Beretta PX-4 Compact Carry and the Sig P229; really like them both. I shot the PX-4 very well right out of the box. It has a butter smooth trigger, great balance, fantastic sights, a fabulous feel - like I can just aim and fire great groups with minimal muzzle flip. The P229 - well just read the reviews on this gem. They are 99.9% true. Neither of these needed $200 of parts right out of the box like (everyone knows who) the anything But perfection pistol.

    I once owned a Walther PP in 380. I don't remember if it was imported by Ingram's or not. I bought it in the mid 70s. A great pistol with amazing accuracy. I found shoulder holster that used a u shaped spring clip to hole the barrel. Perfect under a jacket. I miss that piece. Almost bought a PPK/S but it didn't feel good to me. Big hands. Good vid on that.

    I'm not very knowledgeable in AK's but I bought a milled Mak 90 in 95 (I think) for $215. I since made it 922r compliant with the appropriate amount of US parts +1 for security. It has a spike bayonet and had a great trigger but I had to replace it with an ALG that was even better. Don't know what it's worth but it sounds like I was lucky.

    Hey Chris, why does the market value G3/Mp5 clones the way it does? Is it because of the licensing, importation, reputation/history of those platforms or a combination of all of these factors or something else entirely?

    • @joshuagibson2520
      @joshuagibson2520 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd say it's more of a supply and demand type situation combined with people who have more money than sense. I'm interested to see what Chris might have to say. Seems even the clones are only a couple hundred dollars less. I can't see it. If I was going to spend that much it would have to be for an authentic one. Probably a better long term investment as well.

    • @MarksmanTV
      @MarksmanTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't know for sure, but my assumption would be their popularity.... The MP5 is one of the most coveted and respected firearms that ever existed. They have been featured in countless movies... Whether you grew up in the 80's or the 2000's, you grew up seeing the MP5 in movies and video games. For the same reasons, the transferable machine gun MP5"s are some of the most expensive MG's you can buy. A Mac 10 will cost you $6K whereas an MP5 will cost you $40K, and there is not much of a supply difference between the two. I guess the companies charge it because buyers will pay it. Just my thought though. Thanks for watching!
