How did that work out? Is it a huge difference? I was wondering if this would give my 5000 the technical feel of the 9000.

I can't answer that, I've never tried a 9000. I wanted to slow the action down, so I doubt it would compare to a 9000.

I'm more of a guitar guy myself. Never had the coordination for drums. Do you use synthetic skins, or real? My father-in-law switched over to synthetic a few years back. Apparently they hold tune better?
