Hey all, I am so excited to finally release this song to the world. I've been slowly working away at it for 10 months and it feels good to finally let it loose. Huge thank you to Elizabeth for her amazing, powerful vocal performance. ❤ Don't forget to share with a friend, leave a like, comment etc... all the things that the Algorithm Greater Will demands of me! Big luv, G
You've created another gem Gav! Definitely perfect with the recent dlc announcement and personally it felt perfectly timed as I only managed to beat Malenia last week and just got invested in her Lore.
@@miracleofsound@TheCharismaticVoice listened to this on bandcamp and it's already my favourite release of the last 12 months. absolutely awesome job both of you!
This song and dlc may show to us why Malenia fought Radahn. As miyazaki stated defeating radahn is necessary to enter the dlc. Malenia knew this too, she was carrying out her brothers will. Only she wasn't strong enough and could mot cope with failure and her brothers loss. Maybe she knew miquella would be taken, maybe miquella beguiled mohg to take him. The allure and true wisdom of a god indeed?
Had a theory that maybe Radahn did hold the Shadow Lands in another dimension high in the sky. After his death it's accessible again. Maybe Malenia wanted to go after her brother, but was exhausted after her first bloom and lost part of her memory. She only knew she should wait for his return in the Haligtree. So she fell in a deep slumber and waited for his return until the tarnished arrived @@outlawdolphin1831
If I may comment on the video used, I want to talk about the fact that lore was used here in quite brilliant ways. First of all, using the Bewitching Branch - which supposedly is derived from the power of Miquella himself - on Malenia which only results in her seemingly getting angrier was amazing. Then summoning the three wolves, the first summons in the game and the ones that belonged to "Torrent's previous owner", which is heavily implied to be Miquella, is also brilliant. It's like this Tarnished is throwing everything that reminds her of her missing brother in her face and he does not even realise it. I also appreciate the usage of fire, as it is the element that she is weakest to - and one of the very few ways that the denizens of the Lands Between have held off the Scarlet Rot. Finally, I really like the usage of Placidusax's Ruin, because defeating Placidusax is the only way to complete the Unalloyed Needle and make it whole, which is also the only way to rid yourself of the Frenzied Flame. All in all, the fight between Malenia and the Tarnished was full of lore and I loved it. EDIT: I completely missed that the Tarnished was using the Torch of St. Trina, the alter ego of Miquella (at least, St Trina is the alter ego of Miquella in cut content - so it may or may not still be true. Still, a very cool detail!)
Woooooow. This game is so beautiful and the lore is so deep. Your comment made me realize more and appreciate even more how well the video was done. Mispap1 did an incredible job. Thank you!
@@TheCharismaticVoice I did forget to mention that you obtain the Unalloyed Gold Needle from defeating Malenia after completing Milicent's questline. So that's the connection to Placidusax. There's a lot more lore but I'll leave that to VaatiVidya
@@Spid4r1 So the ashes do say that they encountered a nameless Tarnished, but there is a theory (that I tend to subscribe to but obviously that does not make it fact) that this is referring to you, the player. The theory started before Shadow of the Erdtree was announced but gained some serious traction as a result of that teaser image - showing Miquella riding on Torrent. It's just that before we get Torrent, we see Melina has Torrent - yet Melina does not give us the Spirit Ashes, instead Ranni claims that "Torrent's previous owner wanted you to have these." So why would Melina not give them to us, unless Torrent was not her horse - she was just giving him to us. Perhaps under instruction? Given that Miquella could 'compel affection' and the bewitching branch basically does some low-key mind control, it's theorised that Miquella made Ranni (who for some reason introduced herself as Renna the first time and then never explains why) give us the Spirit Ashes and that Miquella also compelled Melina to give us Torrent. Melina herself says "Torrent had your measure from the very start, while I merely pretended." So why would Melina make a deal with us in the first place if she didn't believe in us? The theory is definitely not solid, but it does play into the fact that Miquella's presence is already felt all over, even though he has very little screentime. It's also possible that the "nameless Tarnished" refers to Vyke of the Roundtable, as he was going to play a bigger role in one version of the story - he even made it onto the box art. These are all theories, but it's the theory I like the most - sort of being "Miquella's Chosen". I just like the idea that there are people; whether hidden or with their own motivations... who are rooting for you. After all, Elden Ring is somewhat more of an upbeat story than Dark Souls (comparatively, anyway) and is meant to be more triumphant and less hopeless. TL;DR That's just a Theory, a GAME THEORY I'm so sorry about the wall of text.
It's consistent theory though. There's nothing that directly contradicts it, and better theories haven't been put forward. Making it a _justified_ theory. Is there different more cohesive explanation of Ranni searching out the owner of Torrent to give out the bell, hmm? It's still not on the level of scientific theory, of course, because we are lacking means to make predictions on its basis and conduct their falsification. Yet it is on the level of, let's say, historical knowledge. As in the end of ww2 happened in 1945, you can't go back and check, yet records and the world as it came to be as a result of it leave no room to different opinions. TLDR There is no real need to undersell the theory until new contradicting data or reasonable alternative interpretation provided. Also minor correction: you don't need to kill Placidusax to use the needle, only get to the arena. Sorry, if the comment came out as a critique, I wrote it rather to support the point.
_"And every sorry soul shall know my name."_ Of that, I have absolutely no doubt. Every single Tarnished will forever know the name of Malenia, Blade of Miquella.
A modern Miracle of Sound classic!! I get some lovely Therion-esque vibes on top of a perfect condensation of Elden Ring's own epic setting. Amazing track, it's rare to hear Malenia's intensity portrayed fully, but this tribute strikes true!
Elizabeth as Malenia might be the most ingenious vocal casting I've ever seen. Malenia is not only an operatic figure in her own right (in fact, "Elden Ring" itself is clearly modeled on the mythology behind "Ring of the Nibelungen"), but she's also clearly modeled on a Valkyrie, which means in opera terms she needs to sound like a Wagnerian Soprano (after the most famous Wagner soprano role, Brunnhilde). Only an opera singer with Elizabeth's pipes and with her unusually dark tone (for a Soprano) can pull off what is, essentially, a Valkyrie rotting into a one-woman apocalypse. I also just have to gush about the video editing combined with the music and lyrics; it made my heart ache for Malenia and love her boss fight so much more. Yes, I know I'm rambling, but I'm in awe.
The leitmotif of the Elden Ring songs that started with Fallen Leaves being present... The response to Radahn's monologue, like two sides of the same coin, where she blames the rot as much as he blames her... The narratives themes of lies being told that carried on from the Fallen Leaves "Do you believe?".... The melody of Moonlight blue at the end... And that voice, goddamn This truly was something else Gav, beautiful I nearly cried as well lmao
It actually has Moonlight Blue's melody throughout the song, listen to the vocal backing from 1:04 to 1:16, it's the same as the vocals in Moonlight Blue!
I love how Gav carries on the theams from previous songs. In _Fallen Leaves,_ we were led to question if we truely believed in "the gilded and gold", or truely desired the power it promised _(Is it all that you wanted and more?)_ Gold may be precious and beautiful, but not necessarily _good._ PUREST gold may be something to fear.
It's one of the best thing about following MoS: New songs always have clever nods to previous songs based on the same game or series, and sometimes even to songs based on games by the same developer.
Not only themes and some lines of previous songs, but also small rythms or musical parts, like the last "In darkness I will dance divine" which had the same sound as "and on this path we'll shine anew" at the end Moonlight Blue
As someone who has suffered from a horrid affliction and loss of vision, I really identify with Melania. The fact that she was able to overcome so much, despite having to fight against both the disease and a very gone dwelling within her, makes me think that I can overcome just a bit of lost vision. And like the goddess of rot, in darkness I will dance divine.
This song... I can't put it into words. The beauty and power of the soloist’s voice, the pain and sorrow of Malenia, and how amazingly the music and the world of the Elden ring are intertwined. This is that rare case when you don’t listen, but live with music. I sincerely apologize for my non-native English. And I express my greatest gratitude and respect to everyone who was involved in the creation of this masterpiece.
"And I'm still longing for the comfort that you brought No sign or song of what I've sought" The DLC makes me want to hear a Miquella song just to hear that line get an inverted reprise.
Your Magnum Opus Gav. absolutely worth the wait holy shit, and what absolutely beautiful work by Charismatic Voice, only further enhanced by the beautiful filmography of the video. Perfection. No notes.
I'm honestly eager to see what Gavin has in store for us once Shadow of the Erdtree comes out! I've loved every single song that he's released for Elden Ring thus far, and I'm sure the next one will be just as big a smash hit as it's predecessors!
There are plenty of comments addressing the song itself, but I need to weigh in on the video here because the cinematographic shots captured and used here are just as utterly gorgeous as the music they accompany. Really great work here showcasing a hard-won fight with Malenia, I think this has to be one of my favorite videos in all of your channel's releases so far. I know it's just game footage, but it's just so well utilized, and the fight shots look awesome. Beautiful song too of course. The operatic vocals work amazingly well with your style. This will definitely be on loop for me for the next few days, at least!
The usage of the shots of statues of Miquella and statues of the two siblings together also hits hard as the song peaks with the agonized lament of Malenia over her lost brother.
I SWEAR TO GOD, 4:45 took me by surprise, but when the lyrics started and knew that it was in reference to "Scarlet Sky"? A tear drop in my eye. It was beautiful. Amazing as always
"Oh that song sounds pretty ok, nothing too special" *hits me with the **1:52* "I'VE WAITED SO LONG FOR YOU! CARRYING ON FOR YOU! ONTO THE FAINTEST HOPE I HOLD!"
My teenage self, introduced to the realm of symphonic metal over a decade ago via Nightwish, is crying tears of happiness over this song. My current self is flailing wildly in excitement at the leitmotifs (both musical and lyrical). And the phrase "to rot in purest gold" will live in my head rent-free for a good month. What a song! What a damn masterpiece!
So, uh, what's the likelihood of Charismatic Voice doing a tea time on their channel with Miracle of Sound? Because this has literally brought my 2 favorite TH-cam people together and I need some more.
Gotta admire how the same general theme is present in all Elden Ring songs you’ve made. It connects them into an epic telling as if it’s all one melody, but separate harmonies
THere's usually a common thread in songs about the same series - e.g. for assasins creed? Justice runs on Crimson Rivers. For Doom? Click-Cliick BOOM BOOM.
I very rarely comment under yt videos, but this time I simply have to. Your music have been with me for over two years now, sometimes throught really heavy shit, and some songs (like "Ode to Fury", "When honor dies" or "Open air" - just to name a few) are emdedded in me for probably rest of my days. I went back to your beginnings here and you've come so far (especially when it comes to vocals lol), and now I cannot think of you in any other way than a music marvel. You give us, nerds, true masterpieces, so that we can not only relieve the best stories we've lived through, but also find new ones to discover. F*ck me, what you do is simply amazing. Also - Elizabeth ❤ We definitely need A LOT more of you in the symphonic metal genre. You're wonderful and your voice is out of this world. Many thanks to all people involved in making this beauty. Ok, time to shut up and push replay 😂
Just listened to the Patreon release, and the operatic sound is EPIC. Normally I do something else while I play music in the background, but this one I just had to sit and listen. Couldn't let myself be distracted!
Aaaand Gavin hitting it out of the park yet again. Just how do you do it man? Lyrics, melody, and even for the songs you don't sing yourself you manage to pick other incredibly talented singers, never picking wrongly. Just major props to everyone involved.
Elizabeth's voice has an operatic quality to it that makes it sound almost ephemereal, if that is the word I'm looking for. It truly sounds like every word could so easily disappear before it's even said, rotted away to never shine. Encased by the wonderful music Gav has produced it's honestly amazing! Not to mention the constrast in the callback to Scarlet Sky Scarlet Sky says the following, laced with poison against _her_ yet equal measures filled with longing for what once was there: "Down in the roots she slumbers as I am torn asunder the hunger ever stronger just let me taste my honor lost..." And Purest Gold provides an answer to Radahn's wish, I'd say this part is one of the more "solid" sung, as if these words are still purely rooted into the Lands Between compared to the fading quality of the other vocals. As much as Radahn may spite Malenia for what she did, none suffer as much as the Empyrean of Rot. I can only hope I have managed to succesfully demonstrate my feelings towards this absolutely wonderful song!
Well, she was a professional opera singer until some years ago. You can actually find one of her performances online, her rendition of "Martern aller Arten", it's gorgeous.
Oh Lord, this one actually brought me to tears. It's so beautiful, perfectly capturing the tragedy of the Divine twins. I love the you she refers to could be both Miquella or the Tarnished themself, either one will free her from this pain Gav, thank you.
So had my screen off with a Playlist not knowing this was in the list and totally though this was a nightwish song I'd not heard. It's so golden. I honestly don't think I've heard a single song of yalls I don't like.
I love the Epica and Nightwish vibes in this song. The vocals, the instrumentals, the overall sound and formula. It's such a tragically beautiful piece, and a great contrast to Scarlet Sky despite telling the other half of the tragedy of the two strongest demigods the Lands Between has had to offer. Charismatic Voice was an amazing choice for vocals, and Audiofrank did a great job mixing, and as always you're an ace at instrumentals and writing Gav! This is up there with Scarlet Sky as one of my favorite works you've done!
"To Rot in Purest Gold" That's such a powerful line you captured the soul of Malenia, Blade of Miquella with that this is one of the best songs I've ever heard and it was worth the long wait thank you so much for it
The Greater Will demands it, and so it has been spoken into existence. I love the duality shown between Radahn and Malenia here, with the bridge around 5 minutes in, with similar lyrics and motif, but where Radahn's was almost screaming in like his second phase, this became faster paced and more fluid, just like her fight. Phenomenal work!
The saddest part to me is that Malenia says “To rot in purest gold”. She wishes that Miquella succeeds in his plan, but at the same time she’s completely aware that her rotting destiny is sealed, no matter what age her brother’s gonna bring. She just wants to stay by his side in this new age, still in pain, but by his side.
You're the first person I've seen kinda put together that she isn't in the dark on this and her brothers disappearance but rather just kinda knows her part of it is finished. Another soldier who will fall nameless when books of old are closed
Operatic vocals: check Blast beats: check Lyrics so beautiful they should be studied alongside Shakespeare: check Throwback to Fallen Leaves and Scarlett Sky: check I mean... HOW can this be considered anything less than a masterpiece? Phenomenal. Just phenomenal!
Which part is Fallen Leaves? I've listened to this five times and can't find it! I feel like I'm doing the musical equivalent of looking in the fridge hoping to see the bottle I know is in there, then find out it was in the door.
W-O-W. This is... it's not even beautiful. It's something more, something deeper. The music, the words Gavin used, Elizabeth's voice... this song is as perfect as it is haunting. But haunting... in a good way. It's hard to describe, but I feel it could actually be my favourite Gavin's song. Amazing. Simply amazing. Thank for your work: finding this quality in music it's not easy, and yet every song you create always reach a new height. This one? This one is special. Even for your standards.
The amalgam of sounds in the beginning disturbed me, felt like too much, and I then realized it was because that part of the song is how I've felt myself of late. It felt overwhelming, in constant battle, agitated, disturbing, unhinged, unbalanced, consumed. You put a drop, a moment, of active suffering in your song and I felt it. That is art. Hopefully I'll see better days and someday use this song to be reminded of what I overcame. Thanks, Gav.
I keep coming back to this one. Not sure why. It draws me, I guess. Like a moth to the flame, or an insomniac to St. Trina's sleep. Others have said it before, and in more articulate ways, Gav, but thanks for making these.
Stunning, just like I expected. That sudden blast of music (I lack the proper word to describe it) felt like a punch from a fire elemental, right to my stomach, and Elizabeth's voice gave me that emotional chills\tears combo that finished me. I loved it.
@@MHF013no he abandoned his love his thoughts his doubts everything In doing so he abandoned her As she is a rot god an opposition to him That is why she could not be his consort Miquella needed a strong warrior that is controllable and not influenced by anything else In truth the only one who can change destiny and rid the gods of the lands between is us we are the abandoned child of marika a demigod of no renown but through this we can choose to be a warrior a lord (elden lord) or a god (god of frenzy flame) We are brought back im the erdtree and can hear a mauselum crying ringing and stomping In those are the demigod children of marika who never achieved anything But we are unique as are tarnished and died outside of grace Only to be brought back in a time where the demigods cannot die And have psuedo immortality Thats why we revive at grace and other tarnished do not Once we kill maliketh the rune of death is unbound and we inherite the rune Thats how we can kill the Elden beaat Death is active again but only through us At the end of the frenzy flame ending we abandoned everything and a new person takes the rune of death aka melina

@@umbra9472 Not true. Item Descriptions shows that Malenia was fully aware of Miquella's plan to have Radahn become his consort (Which would involve going to the Land of Shadows to become a god) and helped him in it. She was waiting for him to return when he became a god.
ER is bit too tragic for happy endings. Personally I wished Millicent would actually been Malenia so you would first find and help her and escort her to Haligtree where she then finally got back her memories and had to fight us. Instead Millicent is another great sword woman with red hair who suffers from scarlet rot and who has lost their right arm and who happens to wander in Caelid without memory and who happens to know same fighting style as Malenia does. That was a change lost for some reason, maybe because Millicent could die along the way or something. There are bit too many coincidences between those two.
@@tubetorpedothere’s actually cut content where Malenia speaks as though she knew the tarnished as Millicent so originally they were meant to share memories, if you betrayed Millicent she’d have reacted with anger as well.
THIS WAS AWESOME! Her beautiful opera voice combined with the Metal Intstruments are a perfect match and sound so beautiful together! And the lyrcs fit so well with Malenias character and Bossfight! This song is a Master Piece! Thank you everyone for making this!
Fantastic, I love all your music and from the moment I found it, Im listening all days- I work from home. Im 66y and I thought nothing will surprise me in music industry :) but I was wrong. Your music is like completely new gate opening for beauty, creativity , simply sound I love . Outstanding !!!!!
This song is stunningly good and I have straight up never seen a dark souls video that looks this good. The music and cinematography really resonate with each other. Gavin, you have a seriously impressive library of music and this one still blows me away.
Honestly, this is your best song, the emotion of the characters is present in the text, tone and voice beautifully. I seriously can't listen this one through without wiping off tears. Absolutely gorgeous ❤
I love the leitmotif of the main theme showing up a few times and the callbacks to previous Elden Ring songs. This one is going straight to the playlist.
That callback to Scarlet Sky... absolute chills. Somehow you made my favorite moment from my favorite song of yours into... perfection. Purest Gold is not about Malenia, or Miquella. It's what Gav and Elizabeth deserve for blessing my ears with this masterpiece.
Congrats on 1 million Gav!!! It's truly amazing to have watched you go from 500 subs over a decade ago to now at a Million. Super proud, Keep rocking on!
This song feels like is Sabaton had a sister band that worked on videogames rather than historical moments. The lyrics are gorgeous, the vocals are killer, THIS is a masterpiece--THANK YOU! Bout to listen to this for about 8 months.
God DAMN this goes hard! I was so excited for it after your three previous Elden Ring songs and you and the vocalist MORE than delivered with this one! Masterpiece!
I finally managed to beat Malenie with parry (not only parry, just most of dmg). I feel as epic as listening to your songs. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your work which always motivates me!
@@ashoethief48he had lost his way in the end having abandoned everything that made him, well… him. He abandoned his doubts, abandoned his fears, and worst of all he abandoned his love. I have doubts he would have even cared enough in the end to save Malenia. She had served her purpose.
@@umbra9472 perhaps, but I meant: he became a god. His age of compassion would not have been limited to the land of shadow, he def would've went out to conquer the rest of the lands between. So, he would most likely have returned, and that's what Malenia awaits for.
I've listened to this on repeat since it came out and it just keeps on getting better every time I listen to it. The quality and depth of the lyrics is just fantastic, musically it's marvelous, and I LOVE the use of distorted guitars. And of course Grace's voice is just pure magic, it suits the tragic nature of this song so extremely well. Simply put, I think this is a masterpiece.
This is one of the best tracks you've released in quite a while. TheCharismaticVoice reminds me a lot of oldschool Nightwish and Epica. Splendid job from everyone involved with this!
This the one collab I didn't know I needed, but oh my God if this didn't make me cry. Gav, the first time I discovered you was in 2016 when I found "Wake the White Wolf" and "Legends of the Frost". And you've remained one of my top favorite artists even now in 2024. Thank you for taking the time and energy out of your day(s) to create songs like this and sharing them with us here on TH-cam and Spotify. Also, I do believe that this one of your best ones yet. Another one that I can think of is your "Soul of Sand" song with Sharm and Sheyma. And Valhalla Calling?? No words are needed for that one. Hehe. I cried towards the last part of the song because of how emotional invested I was in it. I've never played Elden Ring before and I don't have a strong enough set-up (PC or a PS5) to run it currently, but this definitely makes me want to know more about it. Thank you to Elizabeth by helping make this song possible. You truly have an amazing voice, and I would personally love to hear more collaborations from you both (whenever possible) in the near future.
I dont play Elden Ring but someone showed me this video and i started crying, bawling my eyes out halfway the video. This touched me so deeply you have no idea, The vocals, the music, everything hits just right. its absolutely beautiful
What is there not to love? The fight itself how it is a dance, the callbacks, everything. I really loved that the spirit ash summon was miquellas wolves which felt so perfect for this. Amazing vocals, sound, everything. This is definitely my favorite of the elden ring songs you've done but they're all so close. A big applause to you and TCV and everyone who worked on this.
I'm in awe with how amazing this song is. I've been following you for years, and I've liked every song you've made. My favourite always was Mother Earth, but this one is temptingly close. I don't know what creative spirits posseses you when you do songs for Souls games, but those are always amazing.
I had TH-cam on autoplay in the background while I did some other stuff. When it played this song, I legit thought it was a Nightwish song I happened to have not heard before. I'm a big Nightwish fan, so please take that as a massive compliment.
Goosebumps everywhere! You always knock it out of the park with symphonic metal and you did it again, but even more so than before. The instrumentals are intensely epic, Elizabeth is the perfect vocal match with that operatic voice, and there's those callbacks to previous songs that I love so much, they stand out without hogging the spotlight
The first listen throws you into the most sudden and, nevertheless, so close and vivid emotions: anticipation and interest from the beginning; frustration and incomprehension because of such a powerful drum accompaniment; nostalgia (for some reason) for "Fallen leaves"; the chorus bursting into the very soul, tearing the veil from the whole mental balance and, for the second time, causing indescribable emotions, anticipating at the moment 4:55 the appearance of the theme of General Radahn. And the last chorus, anticipated by Malenia's last 'sigh of life' with the words "They will know my name", is emotionally piercing and doesn't give any chance to those who don't like to sing along to the beat of the song. Unimaginable
A proper tribute to Malenia. I was a bit unsure at the start, but by the end, I was sold. Sure addition to my playlist. Give whoever works on the videos a raise, they clearly outdid themselves. Great job guys.
Reusing/remaking the bit from Scarlet Sky at 4:48 was probably the best choice you could have made for this song, sent chills down my spine. Really well done

Melina herself says "Torrent had your measure from the very start, while I merely pretended."
So why would Melina make a deal with us in the first place if she didn't believe in us?
TL;DR
That's just a Theory, a GAME THEORY
I'm so sorry about the wall of text.
_"And every sorry soul shall know my name."_
Of that, I have absolutely no doubt. Every single Tarnished will forever know the name of Malenia, Blade of Miquella.
@sunbrolq84i88 And if you forget she'll be quick to remind you.
I should know she reminded me about 20 times when she killed me 20 consecutive times.
She has never known defeat.
Let me solo her walks into the room : “ are you sure about that “?
I'm not the smartest man, but even I can remember someone's name if they tell me 500 times while stabbing me.
Beat her once solo for the pride, every subsequent attempt is flamberge with flaming strike and blasphemous blade Mimic. I do not feel bad
Somehow managed to capture the sinister nature of Miquella before the DLC even dropped iconic
A modern Miracle of Sound classic!! I get some lovely Therion-esque vibes on top of a perfect condensation of Elden Ring's own epic setting. Amazing track, it's rare to hear Malenia's intensity portrayed fully, but this tribute strikes true!
Love you, Aviators!
Your song was also a banger sir do not sell yourself short
Thanks buddy. Always means a lot coming from you!
We need another Mos and Avian collab please!
I wish Marcomeatball would listen to this. How many people even have the pipes and capability to sing like Elizabeth?
Beautifully written comment. "A Valkyrie rotting into a one-woman apocalypse" is such a captivating line.
That was a great rambling and (s)word play worthy of Malenia.
Not sure what he rest of 2024 will bring but it will be hard to top after mixing and working on this one!
And a damn fine mix it is!
...have you really missed "t" in "the", or there are new developments in English I'm not aware of?😅

@@miracleofsoundwill you be doing a Song for Assassins creed Mirage to add to the collection. I really hope so.
Great work indeed :)
And that voice, goddamn
This truly was something else Gav, beautiful
I nearly cried as well lmao
Agreed, it's such a great capstone.
It actually has Moonlight Blue's melody throughout the song, listen to the vocal backing from 1:04 to 1:16, it's the same as the vocals in Moonlight Blue!
I love how Gav carries on the theams from previous songs.
In _Fallen Leaves,_ we were led to question if we truely believed in "the gilded and gold", or truely desired the power it promised _(Is it all that you wanted and more?)_
Gold may be precious and beautiful, but not necessarily _good._ PUREST gold may be something to fear.
It's one of the best thing about following MoS: New songs always have clever nods to previous songs based on the same game or series, and sometimes even to songs based on games by the same developer.
You have to love the leitmotifs. Being able to spot one is one of my favorite things when listening to Miracle of Sound
And then a part of Radahn's song (Down in the roots she slumbers, as I am torn asunder) is sang again here.
Not only themes and some lines of previous songs, but also small rythms or musical parts, like the last "In darkness I will dance divine" which had the same sound as "and on this path we'll shine anew" at the end Moonlight Blue
Considering Miquella being the modern embodiment of the values of Unalloyed Gold? There is nothing more terrifying.
Dance! Dance and let Nobody and anything stop you
99th thumbs up here, saying to dance and let no sorry soul stop you

This song... I can't put it into words. The beauty and power of the soloist’s voice, the pain and sorrow of Malenia, and how amazingly the music and the world of the Elden ring are intertwined. This is that rare case when you don’t listen, but live with music. I sincerely apologize for my non-native English. And I express my greatest gratitude and respect to everyone who was involved in the creation of this masterpiece.

The DLC makes me want to hear a Miquella song just to hear that line get an inverted reprise.
I love Scarlett Sky, but even this Is really good
I loved it so much.
"Oh that song sounds pretty ok, nothing too special"

TO ROT IN PUREST GOLD!"
" I WILL DANCE DIVINE ! "
This song really does give me some serious early era Nightwish vibes and I love it.

The riff pattern there has the same rhythmical pattern as the Waterfowl Dance :) It was one of the first parts I came up with
Good LORD HER VOCALSSSSSSSSSSSSS, This is literally the best melodic metal ive ever heard.
Symphonic Metal❤
Gotta admire how the same general theme is present in all Elden Ring songs you’ve made. It connects them into an epic telling as if it’s all one melody, but separate harmonies
THere's usually a common thread in songs about the same series - e.g. for assasins creed? Justice runs on Crimson Rivers. For Doom? Click-Cliick BOOM BOOM.
for dark souls? that part of music (for example at the end of embers rise)
Twins:)
You know it’s a banger when the emotional power of the lyrics and instruments can make one feel like they’re going to tear up and cry a bit
I love the integration of the motif from "fallen leaves"
Don't forget the portion that was pulled from "Scarlet Sky".
there was integration from all 3
Where ? I think I missed it here
And even the last line rhyming the "And on this path we'll shine anew" from Moonlight Blue...
"we've waited so long for you"
Rings so true.
The song gives me chills.
And amazing editing in the video too!
Loving the callback to your Radahn song at 4:58. It really shows how, in the end, those two aren't really different from one another.
Thanks for the kind words
Just listened to the Patreon release, and the operatic sound is EPIC. Normally I do something else while I play music in the background, but this one I just had to sit and listen. Couldn't let myself be distracted!
Wow Elizabeth's vocals give this Nightwish vibes. Lovin it.
Not to mention the constrast in the callback to Scarlet Sky
Scarlet Sky says the following, laced with poison against _her_ yet equal measures filled with longing for what once was there:
"Down in the roots she slumbers
as I am torn asunder
the hunger ever stronger
just let me taste my honor lost..."
And Purest Gold provides an answer to Radahn's wish, I'd say this part is one of the more "solid" sung, as if these words are still purely rooted into the Lands Between compared to the fading quality of the other vocals.
@@onetwothree9ooh noted.
Oh Lord, this one actually brought me to tears. It's so beautiful, perfectly capturing the tragedy of the Divine twins. I love the you she refers to could be both Miquella or the Tarnished themself, either one will free her from this pain
Gav, thank you.

This song makes me feel really bad for Malenia, she just wants her bro back. 😢
The way fight is edited is really giving a final boss vibe.
Against tarnished.
"To Rot in Purest Gold"
That's such a powerful line you captured the soul of Malenia, Blade of Miquella with that this is one of the best songs I've ever heard and it was worth the long wait thank you so much for it
The Greater Will demands it, and so it has been spoken into existence.
I love the duality shown between Radahn and Malenia here, with the bridge around 5 minutes in, with similar lyrics and motif, but where Radahn's was almost screaming in like his second phase, this became faster paced and more fluid, just like her fight. Phenomenal work!
This has gotten far, far sadder with the release of Shadows of the Erdtree, gotta say. Pining for Miquella... well.
@@JohnsonFisher It's probably one of the saddest fates in the whole game

This is pure art. Absolutely incredible! Bravo!!
I keep coming back to this one. Not sure why. It draws me, I guess. Like a moth to the flame, or an insomniac to St. Trina's sleep.

Stunning, just like I expected. That sudden blast of music (I lack the proper word to describe it) felt like a punch from a fire elemental, right to my stomach, and Elizabeth's voice gave me that emotional chills\tears combo that finished me. I loved it.
Actually you described it perfectly 😀 - that pounding rhythm is called a 'blast beat' in the metal world!

So she could kill him. But I doubt she'd want that, bewitched or not.

The instrumentals are intensely epic, Elizabeth is the perfect vocal match with that operatic voice, and there's those callbacks to previous songs that I love so much, they stand out without hogging the spotlight
This is truly a masterpiece, the musical references make this a joy to listen to
The first listen throws you into the most sudden and, nevertheless, so close and vivid emotions: anticipation and interest from the beginning; frustration and incomprehension because of such a powerful drum accompaniment; nostalgia (for some reason) for "Fallen leaves"; the chorus bursting into the very soul, tearing the veil from the whole mental balance and, for the second time, causing indescribable emotions, anticipating at the moment 4:55 the appearance of the theme of General Radahn. And the last chorus, anticipated by Malenia's last 'sigh of life' with the words "They will know my name", is emotionally piercing and doesn't give any chance to those who don't like to sing along to the beat of the song.
Unimaginable
