One thing that worked for us was on the dps of the lovebirds, we all piled into doorway area rather than the flanks. Doing so means the sniper turret is highly unlikely to be able to target you and when Johnson kneels down, he’s basically exposing his head frontally at close range to your group. You can absolutely one-round him that way. One caveat: Martinez might wander in front of him sometimes, which sucks, but it should still be effective. When Johnson is dead, or you are running out, emp-sticky the turret and kill it asap. Avoiding the mortars I found easiest for people to just run laps around the perimeter. Once Martinez goes crazy, it’s simply a matter of moving as much as possible and shooting her when you can.
Hey y'all We've almost done this strat before and got Johnson's armor down to two bars. This totally works! However, to prevent Martinez from facetanking for Johnson like mentioned in the comment we figured that placing a decoy whilst running to the middle in the right set of stairs (looking at the mansion) helps them spread out and make this less likely to happen. This should in theory prevent DPS loss and finish Johnson extremely early.
This strat definitely works but I encountered a weird bug where my team kept getting set on fire in the doorway so we couldn’t dps effectively. To counteract this we had one dps stand to the left of the doorway and one dps to the right, with the last dps being in the doorway with the healer and this worked every time. Also had both dps standing outside of the doorway each drop a decoy just for extra insurance. Worked every time.
Tip: Johnson healing station is particularly vulnerable to the Elmo's shock ammo. So make sure to only use those rounds when he is trying to deploy that medic box. He will go down pretty quick ;)
Yeah we did 2 DPS, 1 tank, and 1 healder... Tank kept Martinez busy, and DPSers ripped down Johnson while the healer kept us alive. Then once we killed Johnson after 3 loops, Martinez was done for at that point in no time.
If your healer can keep martinez busy and ou get 3 striker dps (w backpack and chest) instead of a tank teammate, you can kill Johnson in one go on the damage phase
My only complaint is that they went a little overboard with the status effects otherwise i think its fine when you understand the mechanics. Give it a few months and a squad of randoms can finish it with minimal issues just like legendary strongholds.
It's hard to stick with it with randoms who think we should get past an encounter on the very first try, then leave if we don't. We got the matchmaking like we wanted, but just have not found the right team, or anyone being realistic that it's gonna take time to do it. Everyone is wanting it now now now, and leave when it doesn't happen. Super annoying!
This is very helpful! I tried a number of times in this stage of the raid.. couldn't beat the bosses. As for your build, do you have a video on it? P.S. I can feel the building up to keener, since they are mentioning him in certain comms.
Thanks so much for sharing this detailed breakdown. Will be very helpful once I'm finally able to do a run. However, this absolutely will need some good cooperation, and I don't know how likely that is for a group that matchmakes. I guess, over time, people will become familiar with the incursion and will know what to run, but you need someone willing to heal, and another willing to tank. It also seems like some appropriate builds will be necessary. I guess we'll see how it goes! But really appreciate your tips and suggestions.
@rob5984 I definitely think over time general knowledge on it will improve and matchmaking will be more viable, same as Division 1's Incursions. So glad this was helpful though!
You can get through the incursion with many specs so long as you got at least 2-3 good single-target DPS specs in the mix. Healer is required I think for Wright and Lovebirds because it lets you facetank chip damage during magdump phases. You can make a buff-bot Future Initiative healer build if you use Scorpio/Opportunist chestpiece which will more than make up for the lost DPS on the healer. Especially if someone brings Lefty. There is a bug with Scorpio though where I think it can make either Wright or the Lovebirds immune to damage- I dunno if it has been fixed yet.
burst kill johnson in 1-2 phase. always remember to kill sniper turret before further actions. the rest is mob control and damaging martinez. i use striker focus btw.
I did a run yesterday with a matchmade team. We did alright, but couldn't get past Wright. We had been at it for about four hours and had to call it without making it to the end. We just couldn't take down Wright.
I find vanguard more useful to the team over tardigrade. it lasts longer, can be activated more often and the cool down is shorter. plus it doesn't require you to have an exotic gear piece. so if you have a "tank" player that has a shield they just need to stack pieces that give them more base armor (Gila "Pointman", UG, Foundry) so the teammates get as much bonus armor as possible.

I think I'm done with Incursions, stacked on the pile of unreachable content together with both Raids.
I had to delete my Heartbreaker setup as I really hated some aspects of the setup. I strictly use a Hunter's Fury build with either a Light Machine Gun, and my Scorpio. Plus I don't use a Hand Gun at all. I also had to use a Picaro's Holster for added fighting strength. I use Sawyer's Kneepads to avoid getting staggered by explosions. I personally don't like the ACS-12 (or Lefty in your case) because that Shotgun is very HARD to handle.
You can, but it doesn’t really do anything or stay stationary for very long at all. It does EMP damage, but as soon as the red circle charges up the drone becomes immune again and the status effect is removed. From my experience it’s better to just DPS it.
@Ben-ck7tq According to the Devs duo is the very minimum that is mechanically possible, but would still be extremely difficult as the content is tuned to a 4-man team

I'm really kindof burnt out on the devs throwing 50 mechanics at you that can all 1 shot you . I don't find it fun when every enemy and mechanic just deletes you while the enemy or enemy skill has 50 billion hp and refuses to die. Call me old fashioned but I miss the days when you fought a boss and there wasn't 100 other enemies there with it
So killing martinez first gives a different artifact to killing johnson first and the book is the 3rd artifact. Still can only find 8 out of 10 comms though. Anyone got all 10 yet ?
I have been playing forever. I can't wait to run this and the raids with the new clan I have just joined. Never had the opportunity to run it until now.
I tried it with a matchmade team and got all the way to the final boss with no comms! It'll get easier in the coming weeks as more people learn the mechanics
"It won't be a DPS check, and team composition will be very important. " 3 DPS + 1 Healer, with maybe 1 Tank in the first area. Hazard Protection is "useless". A FULL tank will be one shot by any Incursion mechanics. It's not that simple to play, but honestly, they keep dropping the bar on this type of content. No matter what mechanics they introduce, it never push us away from the (mostly) DPS + 1 healer, with 1 tank here and there. There's no need for Hazard Protection in ANY Raid or Incursion. There's no need for a CC in ANY Raid or Incursion. Seriously, this is really disapointing. And as the game gets easier (with Expertise and new Gear/Weapons), and it keeps becoming more of a shooter, and less of an RPG, the shallower it becomes...
3 hours was our Day 1 run going in completely blind. Some of my runs over the weekend were sub-30 minutes. I'd say they differ in complexity, Incursions use the same general framework of promoting mechanics and communication, although not to the degree where it's an absolute requirement. I got up to the final boss with a matchmade group
@rogue when I first was fighting love birds, we killed Johnson in the first dps phase with everyone one on striker builds but I think it was fluke cause we weren't able to do it again
I have never done it im watch lvl 1030 and would love this gun i am usually pretty capable but spending hours on different segments of destiny raids learning the mechanics has kinda left me with raid ptsd 😂 is this raid difficult im wondering if i should finally try and get it
I would say this Incursion is far easier to play and understand compared to a Destiny Raid. It'll of course go smoother if you have a pre-made group, but it can definitely be done via matchmaking! This video might give you some confidence there 👉 th-cam.com/video/elTsHz9i9kM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=SF6v-y2qgRYStJJy
We are not, the only big piece of content left for Year 5 is the DLC in Season 4, all work is going into that right now. If we get a Year 6 hopefully more Incursions come then! I did not get the Ouroboros yet unfortunately
Great guide, but I want to point something out. At 17:00 you said you can’t take out Johnson in one damage phase. Funnily enough, you can. I’m not even talking about using some one shot dodgecity regulus strategy. I was running with three friends. Three of us were normal full on DPS strikers, the last was a standard healer, and we managed to kill Johnson in the first damage phase. Now, I have no idea how the hell we got that. It seemed like Johnson was distracted more than usual, and the drone took a longer time to spawn back up, so we had enough time to lay into him. But, aside from that, you’re right. He’s stationary, so try to hit as many headshots as possible just for that small boost in damage that, added up to everything else, will absolutely make a difference CORRECTION: I looked back at my footage, and realize that before we could destroy The Kid, we had to switch twice, so basically right before the actual damage phase Johnson already had a bar and a half/two bars off of his health already. So, technically, we didn’t one phase him, but very much close to that
I've been watching the videos come out today, the strats people are devising are wild! Thanks for the additional info, I should've figured it would happen sooner or later 😂
In case nobody has noticed, Incursion is killing Division 2. Since the launch of Incursion, the number of active players in Division 2 has decreased considerably. Matchmaking for anything has become difficult, at least on PC. The reason for this is pretty simple. Playing Incursion is incredibly frustrating. It isn't the game itself that makes it frustrating, but the players. The Division 2 has always been based on the idea of team play, but except for the Raids and now the Incursion, there is absolutely no need for players to play as a cohesive unit. Four randoms, with good builds and basic skills can easily clear legendary missions without ever paying attention to or coordinating with their teammates. This has resulted in most players never really understanding how to play as part of an effective team. Now, those 4 randoms are attempting incursion and completely failing because they either refuse or are unable to adapt their play to a team style. The raids were always seen as being somehow separate from the regular game so many players (especially lower SDH level players) ignored them and didn't allow it to impact their daily play. However, the Incursion is more inclusive and so everyone tried to jump in. And when they realized how frustrating it was to play the incursion they just logged out. Those players that continue to play Division 2 are either the better team players or those that have never tried or don't care about the Incursion. A very unfortunate turn of events all because the devs tried to encourage tighter team play.
With all due respect there, Rogue. But, if you show up the incursion wearing that setup, you will be bounced out of the group faster than paycheck from a Nigerian prince. You either run a full strikers build, chest and pack included, or you will be forced to seek a hapless run elsewhere.
This stuff takes a lot of time and resources to make! So we won't be getting another one for quite a while. But I'm glad this one turned out as well as it did

It is an Endgame activity yes 👍 In early endgame, to get better gear/builds, I highly recommend the Countdown game mode!
Nice vid. More than anything this video explains that I shouldnt even bother trying this with randoms xD
I tried it with a matchmade team and got all the way to the final boss with no comms! It'll get easier in the coming weeks as more people learn the mechanics
"It won't be a DPS check, and team composition will be very important. "
3 DPS + 1 Healer, with maybe 1 Tank in the first area.
Incursion is not working for me for some reason. Nothing happens when I try to match make. Any idea why?
Are you in a low population region, or were you trying in off-hours? Could just be low participation
Not sure if it was noticed, or if holds any relevance, but Johnson’s health bar has a Rogue Agent icon as opposed to Martinez.
He has a watch too. Not sure of the full backstory
Do you play on Xbox Series X?
Yes
3 HOURS?????
As far as coordination and preparation goes, how are incursions any different from raids?
3 hours was our Day 1 run going in completely blind. Some of my runs over the weekend were sub-30 minutes. I'd say they differ in complexity, Incursions use the same general framework of promoting mechanics and communication, although not to the degree where it's an absolute requirement. I got up to the final boss with a matchmade group
Okay gotcha, thank you my good sir@@RogueGold
3 umbra 2 strikers ninja I'm going to try out
striker focus build is the best i think. focus on headshot of course.
Tried this with randoms it was pointless
In running my HB too but with 1.5 mill armor with WH and a Grupo
👍 It slaps!
Ha rinse and repeat!! Well played
@rogue when I first was fighting love birds, we killed Johnson in the first dps phase with everyone one on striker builds but I think it was fluke cause we weren't able to do it again
There's some strats people are making to one-phase it, it's possible!
Ok, I wasn't sure on that though it was just a fluke thing
Can do it solo?
You cannot
Wow
finally a guide video of the incursion i enjoy to watch and listen.
🙌
How are you proxing heartbreak or spotter without a pulse or technician?
Headshots pulse the targets
@lockade_9958 The Heartbreaker 4-piece talent pulses a target you headshot for 5 seconds 👍
Did anyone opened the golden door next to the vault where's the last audio file??? Couldnt figure it out lol
We couldn't solve it either
When you beat boss on tanker. Right hand side as you go through door there is a painting. Switch behind it
Left side as u go in sorry
@@gamerreview635 awesome. thank you!
Is a 40 minute clear a good time?
Any clear time is good, congrats!
This looks super fun Can’t wait to play it. Are we getting a new incursion every season? By the way gold did you get your SMG?
We are not, the only big piece of content left for Year 5 is the DLC in Season 4, all work is going into that right now. If we get a Year 6 hopefully more Incursions come then! I did not get the Ouroboros yet unfortunately
@@RogueGold ooooo
Hope it’s gonna be good is that when we are getting the big rework that’s been postponed forever!?
@carlomandacina4617 The endgame rework? That was always slated for Season 4 it hasn't been pushed back
@@RogueGold the specialization rework?
@@carlomandacina4617 Ah, this is the latest we have on that 👉 th-cam.com/video/oBaW38xpQzk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=RA27U3zAtQyD6cC0
He’s stationary, so try to hit as many headshots as possible just for that small boost in damage that, added up to everything else, will absolutely make a difference
CORRECTION: I looked back at my footage, and realize that before we could destroy The Kid, we had to switch twice, so basically right before the actual damage phase Johnson already had a bar and a half/two bars off of his health already. So, technically, we didn’t one phase him, but very much close to that
I've been watching the videos come out today, the strats people are devising are wild! Thanks for the additional info, I should've figured it would happen sooner or later 😂
Wow, why so complicated on these incursions, like raids, teamwork. Not even solo or commless friendly.
They're intended to be quite difficult!
I'm exhausted just from the explanation
Took your build into conflict and dominated!
👊👊
What hive is that, reviver?
I know you didn’t just say 3.5 hours
On Day 1 when no one knew the mechanics, yeah 😄 now average runs are 15-20 minutes
i dont see that you've finished it
th-cam.com/users/liveEPIBeLWQrn0?si=b4TEK9bViU5BeJsL
Seeing people run it in 8 minutes makes me think it’s either not hard enough or I’m rubbish at this game and have wasted 1700 hours of my life.
Cronus 🤣🤣.. it nothing .more less .
Wow, they put incursion in d2 after all this years...cnda late
Its not worth the time unfortunately,
Only 4 people who doesnt know how to play 😄
@@erasalams61is harder to find the people than to get the gun
you on PS ?? xXVoLaTiLe1Xx
If you don't understand the mechanism just say that or just learn to get better🤷🏽♂️
Literally the best PVP weapon in the game right now is hidden behind it so actually it's completely worth the time
👊👍👊
you can kill Johnson in 1 go and its not that hard.
With all due respect there, Rogue. But, if you show up the incursion wearing that setup, you will be bounced out of the group faster than paycheck from a Nigerian prince. You either run a full strikers build, chest and pack included, or you will be forced to seek a hapless run elsewhere.
I'm so pleased with this. I have yet to get my first clear. However, they need to release these twice a season. I love the coordination it takes.
This stuff takes a lot of time and resources to make! So we won't be getting another one for quite a while. But I'm glad this one turned out as well as it did
nice mechanics but i doubt i will ever be able to complete with pugs
