  • I want a trailer that's long enough to haul two ATVs, or an ATV and a UTV, or my tractor with loader and rear implement, or a car, or anything else I may want to carry. It's interesting that there are only a couple of differences between a car hauler and a utility trailer, but they are important differences. #trailer #trucks #offroad

I had a 16' all aluminum car hauler built with dual torque flex axils and stake pockets on the sides plus a 4,500 # winch with aluminum diamond plate battery box. Floor is all aluminum diamond plate. had it built in 03, with living in Mi this trailer will never rust out, and it still looks brand new.

My thinking is this, you may wanna haul your Challenger somewhere to a show our something but wanna take your truck also , so a car hauler i think would be a better buy for you.. just having that ability weather you use it alot or not ,is a good piece of mind knowing you can if you wanted to.. my pap always told me ,” Better to have and not need , than need and not have”.. just my thoughts anyway ..

I have a Sure Trac 18 foot 7000lb car hauler with the 2 foot dovetail. I went with Sure Trac because they seem to put more quality in their trailers as compared to others. We haul small tractors and similar items my son just hauled a Jeep with it. I felt a car hauler has a little more strength built in for hauling heavier items vs a utility trailer.
With a car hauler you can haul vehicles lumber, anything. Add some plywood walls via the stake pockets, and you can haul loose loads like mulch or dirt.
I just feel a car hauler gives you more options than a utility trailer.

Lawn mowers and short vehicles will often get stuck on ramps. Utility trailers are very limited on what they can haul. With the sides and ramps in the way. I have a 20 ft 7000 pound tilt deck trailer has stake pockets on the sides so you can build removable sides for loose stuff like rock you can get really low cars on it without dragging the middle of the car. I've hauled everything from a 50 inch zero turn to a 1988 4x4 suburban 78 gmc truck with a 6 inch lift on 35s 16 foot boards for a deck. 3 ton of rock and sand and lots of other stuff 1 trailer does it all. Had it since 2007.

I'd question how easy removing that spring-sssisted ramp would be. Buying more trailer than you think you need today you won't regret.

It’s all about the weight, the width of the trailer and whether that you’re gonna be hauling in.

i use my iron bull car hauler for pretty much everything it has drive over fenders and with a little modding you can load low to the ground cars, and what you're most likely over looking is buying once is easier keep in mind all the junk you have to haul and other peoples junk youll have to haul

Not all car hauling trailers are "channel". Many of them are built with Angle iron but it typically is a larger angle iron than the utility trailers.

I see Baileys in the background cool! I am looking for a basic car hauler for a decent price. Do you have any comparison videos on car trailers? Was there much of a price difference between the utility trailer and the car hauler you looked at?

Can you modify the utility trailer into a car hauler?

So, is it possible to have a fabricator make a drop side rail on your current trailer? So much less spending. If indeed your current trailer is heavy duty enough for you.

I’m getting a 7k gvwr 16’ deck over personally in the next two weeks. I hate loading over wheel wells

Only problem with a deck over is they sit higher than a car hauler with fenders. A deck over may prove troublesome should you need to load a low to the ground vehicle.

you should have mentioned the weight limit on each trailer... otherwise nothing else is worth talking about. I've seen some angle on car haulers... (depends on how far apart things are, size of angle, etc.) It's all about weight rating.
