Wow excellent video! I really appreciate how in depth all your videos are compared to other channels. Its great to have more knowledge targeting Mackarel. I'm a fanatic trying to target them...but I've only caught one Spanish years ago and never had luck since. I don't have a boat or Kayak...but I hope to catch them at piers or beaches along the coast. Thanks for the advices you always give
Thanks a million for watching and leaving some stellar feedback. I truly appreciate it. The big macks do come in shallow... If you find the Spaniards the kings will be feeding on them... Good luck and tight lines... Take care :)
Thanks for watching and leaving feedback. I really appreciate it. Lots of fish in the gulf have high mercury levels... water runs in a cyclical pattern and doesn't ebb and flow like the atlantic and pacific. Take care :)
Thanks a million for watching and leaving some great feedback and a truly humbling compliment. I sincerely appreciate it and your support for the channel. Couldn't get this done without you. Thanks again. Tight lines & take care ;)
Hi Heath, More great information for the Florida fishermen. Now, if you could send some Kingfish up to New Jersey, then I'd be in business. Good luck and be safe, Mickey
Hi Mickey... Thanks for making me laugh... I only wish i could send the pelagic fish your way, you'd sure have a blast... Boat ramps opened this week should be able to get out soon... Hopefully the fish are hungry, lord knows they've had a nice break.... Take care :)
Hi Heath, Good luck when you go out. The marinas are open, so fishermen that have boats docked at a marina can get out. The ramps, piers and beaches are still closed up here. It's very hard to find a place to fish. Take care and be safe, Mickey
Thanks a million for watching and leaving some positive feedback. I really appreciate the support. Glad the video was helpful. Tight lines & take care ;)
Hi Thanks for watching... Always great to hear from you. That's stellar that you've been a king slayer lately, hope it keeps up for you, soon the masses will be heading out deep to make babies. Take care & tight lines :)
Wow great video!!! Thank you for sharing this Information and your knowledge!!! I will definitely be trying some of these techniques on my next trip out. Subscribed and Looking forward to more of these videos on other species 👍

Thanks a million for watching and putting in a great request. I will definitely put it on my "to do" list as it is a very realistic and applicable question. Thanks again for your support of the channel. Tight lines & take care ;)
hey Heath , im getting ready to go out and target some kings, whats your opinion on slow trolling frozen sardines on a stinger rig, i have not caught a king in a couple of years , and when i did i caught them that way....times have changed so ill be using all the methods ive learned from your channel
Thanks a million for watching and leaving some great feedback. I truly appreciate and the support for the channel. Glad to hear you are finding them useful. Happy holidays. Tight lines & take care ;)
Thanks for watching and supporting. I really appreciate it. Any planer size will work with a spoon. The large the planer size (which means a heavier weight) the deeper it will dive. My favorite planer size is a #6. Take care & tight lines :)
South Florida Saltwater Fishing thanks,I don’t have very heavy rod for trolling large planner so you think I can use small number 1 planner to pull drone spoon for king and Spanish mackerel. This is great because I never fishing with planer before and your videos will help me a lot.Thank you!
Thanks a million for watching and ask any very question. No I don't put any weights on it. I typically buy a 3/4 Oz bucktail jig and troll it in between 4 and 6 knots. And trolls very streamline and is a high fish attractant. thanks again for your support of the channel I truly and sincerely appreciate it. Good luck in your fishing journeys. Tight lines & take care ;)
Hi. Thanks for watching and asking a great question. With both the gotcha and the bucktail jig I use 20 lb fluorocarbon... Yes I know it's light, but the hook up ratio is phenomenal compared to the amount of times you get cut off. Hope this helps. Tight lines & take care :)
Hi Heath! Great video! Very informative. One question I have is, I noticed that your boat is generally the same size as mine, what wave height is too high for you in your boat?
Hi Gary, thanks for watching and asking a great question. The answer is tricky though... so here goes... first, I'm infamous for going out in super rough seas, I really have to make a judgement call on the inlet conditions, inlets sink boats more than anything. I've had my 17' KeyWest out in choppy 3 - 5, I've also had it out with 8 and 9 foot swells from a west wind laying down the ocean forming large swells. regardless, it could be 1 - 2, if the inlet is unfavorable, I won't chance it. The more simple answer is my boat can handle about 5' seas. Hope that answers your question. Take care :)
why not just run the wire through the loop and back through the haywire tool? Does the tool you are using not have a release slot? Also - what size wire for these guys? I'm getting my #4 wire bit off lately, and think I might need to go heavier.
Thanks for watching and asking a couple of great questions... The ez twist tool has a fixed side and an open slot side... First I send the wire through the loop of the hook then into the fixed side of the tool, next i fold it over to form a loop and lay it into the open slot and twist the leader. This is how I've done it for years... I'm sure there are modified versions of how to use the tool effectively, but I'm just sharing what I know of as the easiest way to utilize the tool. I use #4 - 40lb wire for kings... Cut offs are all part of it. If it's happening on a consistent basis I'd up the leader to #6 - 60lb. I like the #4 because of the stealth factor... I get lots of kinks from the bigger kings, but haven't been cut off in a long while. Hope this helps. Tight lines & take care :)
@@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing Thanks for the quick and awesome reply. Subscribed. Yeah I'm going to try going up to #6. The kings are pretty big and powerful here. So what I do with the tool is go through the back of it on the moving slot side first, then through the lure, then back through the tool's front, in the fixed hole. this way when I back the tool off the wire after the twist, It just falls off the wire. If I could bother you again, what jig weights do you find most useful? I think this might be speed dependent too.
Thanks for the tool tip... I'll have to give it try. The jigs i use, if you're referencing the spro white bucktails range from 1/2 oz to 1 oz... Speed doesn't seem to be a factor. I troll the 1/2oz at 8 to 10 knots and it stays in the water. The gotchas come in 2 sizes that i know of... I use both the smaller and the larger, they both work the same... I do prefer the Spro jig though. Hope this answers your question. Tight lines & thanks a boat load for supporting the channel, I truly appreciate it :)

Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. So, where I'm from, we get spanish mackerel and sometimes cero mackerel off the piers. Up northwest of me, in tampa?/clearwater area (in the Gulf of Mexico) is where kings can be caught from the piers. You have given e a great idea for a land based show, that I'll be sure to put on my "to do" list. As winter approaches, these fish start migrating up the beach, so I'll see what I can do to work towards an episode regarding that content. Thanks again for your support of the channel. Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. First I would say in general yes, Penn Battle spinners can handle Kingfish. I have an original Penn Battle 5000 and it handles some hefty kings. It will not however, handle planer trolling, there's too much pressure put on your gear by a planer for a spinning setup to handle. But, top water trolling and flat lining, you'll be just fine. Hope this helps. Tight lines & take care ;)
Thanks a million for watching and asking a couple of great questions. the leader that I use on my yoyo is 100 feet long and it is 60 lb test. Hope this helps. Tight lines & take care ;)
Thanks for watching and asking a good question. I do not make the turbo slammer, I order them online from the link below: bit.ly/305XaQ8 when you receive them they are already rigged. I always cut off the terminal tackle and leader and do the rigging myself, as I don't trust a manufacturer to rig my lures for me. Hope this helps. Tight lines & take care :)

Great step by step methods, thank you for teaching me to be better.
My grandfather took me trolling one day. He put a McDonald’s straw on a treble hook. Caught maybe 4 nice sized mackerels on it.
Very clear video. I just got a planner and I will be trying that tactic by God's grace.
If you want to catch fish in Florida and don't have a 39 foot See Vee with $10K in fishing gear this is the channel to watch!
Thanks a million for the excellent and most positive feedback. I truly appreciate it. I get a lot done in my 17' Key West. Take care :)
Super interesting super informative every time I watch this video

Best bet is planer trolling at 6 kts... using a seawitch and a Bonito strip
If your gonna use sardines... don't troll, just drift and flat line out bait... meaning no weight on your line ... good luck 😁
Btw.. still waiting on my boat 😡
