- I thought I was like a kid in a candy store with that single crate for $20 a little while back but this is crazy! I can't even begin to express the amount of appreciation I have for the DJ that gave me the ultimate hookup today. I hope everyone enjoys the crate digs because I definately have enough music here to keep them going for quite some time.
Practice & Njoy!

My heart is beating faster seeing all of those beauteous LP's! What a blessing for you.
The same happened to me a few years ago. so cool! Enjoy the vinyl.
That sounds like a perfect idea! I could stay inside where it is warm, kick back and listen to a lot of good music!
He probably has tons of rares in there. I'm from okc & the record store I visit had many rare lp's from this dj who use to own a radio station. They were a $1 each & no scratches, so I went all out on payday lol. I wish I knew him at that time he gave them away, I wouldve been in tears & jumping for joy.
U wuz Blessed by the vinyl gods!....it's a good mix of records!!
make sure you pray to the vinyl gods every night and go to church [the record shop] every week the vinyl gods will look after you i have been blessed twice in the last year and a half respect to the vinyl gods !
i know this feeling my uncle gave me his whole rb collection 6 crates !!! happy digging!!
dope, i had luck recently too, drove past a charity shop and picked up 3 crates that had been thrown out, still gonna keep on digging though
Nice pickup...Id like to know what else was in the crate you pulled the Latifah record out of
just saw this video and was amazed to say the least. i am recently back into my vinyl and am slowly recreating my collection. If there are any that you don't necessarily want or need, I would gladly take some off of your hands. In any case, this was the ultimate hook up....
Damn i would have a field day with all those. Coming from a DJ you know theres some gems in there
youre blessed also the person that gave it up
same thing thing happened to me, but i was given way less records..it feels weird at first, to have someone else's collection, it's a bit like stealing a part of their soul, then it feels much better after a while, like, you always going to remember how good this person has been to you !
Very nice find man, wow. Wish I could come across a motherload like that.
Santo Cielos quien pudiera tener tantos discos para escuchar increíble
Holy mother of vinyl Batman, WTF nice rear end. I mean nice rear end of the truck. You have got to be the luckiest man alive. I have a friend a while back her father died and was left with a bunch of crates of records and I got a great deal on them an allso some stereo equipment but you are a lucky son of a gun. Nice
fantastic collection, very varied
This is the kind of gift that would have made me happy in the past. Now I am only into buying/accepting vinyl I really want or think I want. Not just filling the Whole house and not listening. Slimmed my 1300LP records Down to 650 and the Collection is better than ever.
DJ's are a different kind of breed when it comes to record collecting. They always go for those 12" singles and whatever since they usually like to switch from one record to the next while dj-ing. Arm them with a mixer and this dude off going off making some shit up.
Hell I'd be back out diggin next week.
Congrats. This is truly amazing. If I were you, I would cancel all holiday plans. Enjoy.
I'd be curious how many of these records are any good. Because I've seen guys at the flea markets with way more records that this & I can tell you the percentage of good records that I don't have already would be very small
Hey there. Are there any of those vinyl records you plan to get rid of? If so, can you please what ones they are? I may be able to use some of those myself.Thank you! :)
Sick!!!!!!!!!!! You were so lucky. Our goodwill put a stop to crate digging. Not fair.
FUCK THOSE GREEDY ASSHOLES! I just grab what I want, buy something for 99 cents and walk right out the door.
i own 703 vinyl LP records but my book shelves falls apart but I keep it in records frames and records boxes
HOLY CRAP DUDE!!!! THAT'S AMAZING!!!!!!!!
wow!, do you have any early eighties post punk in there? gary numan, joy division or the cure?
LOTS OF GEMS! I WISH YOU HAD GONE THROUGH EACH ONE!!! DOPE!
I got the same amount and just about the same artists sittin' in storage collecting dust.
was that a SRC LP at 5:19?
how many albums do you have?
I'd love to find a collection like that seriously amazing
Very nice of him - I hope you gave him a few quid!
I don't think paying someone in quids would do much good in the United States.
Good point, I never contemplated that.
SELF-RELIANCE and a STRONG COMMUNITY Well let's hope he gave him a few dollars then ffs, or shekels, or dinar, or zlotty, or any particular coins of any particular realm.
was this dj tony neal or kid cut up wax?
defintley a nice addtion to your collection i had a guy do thaat to me a while back gave me his whole collection he was moving over seas and couldnt take it.and i got some of hi old stereo equipment he was a good friend of the familys and new i was into music i think he gave around 500 albums that he had left. but nice find man.
For a guy who likes to sample music, a DJ selling records sounds like it's all disco and very outdated music. But if you're into disco then by all means this was a steal ahaha
i like the gremlins sound track, kriss kross, LaVert, and other records ect, u got some good stuff in there. I personally can't afford to buy records anymore due to my back problems. thats a mindblowing find!!!!! i got all wet over here thx for showing us some of ur finds.
He wanted them to go a good home. Sometimes that matters the most with a collection you made.
Damn right. I know I'll never get super valuable stuff, but if I can get quality albums in good condition, I'll give them a home because I think valuable stuff should be protected if not for right now, but for the future.
that's ironic; i had the same thing happen to me in 08! i got 1500 from my building manager - someone left them behind, he needed the space. i kept 500 and gave the rest to Mat The Alien. house, rock, funk, techno, rap, soul, jazz, experimental, drumnbass, breakbeat, disco, r+b, world, instrumentals, soundtracks, comedy, etc etc - took me 6months to review it all. luccccky
Yeah that looks like a bunch of stuff from a radio station slash personal collection. Still pretty cool but takes up more space than anything these days. However if you have a basement, that's perfect. I have a friend that I was working with before I got rehired at my job and he is really good friends with a radio DJ in my city. One morning he was telling me that him and his friend got together and loaded up truck loads of vinyl from the radio stations Warehouse to throw away. He told me there was tons. He told me several times. The radio station has been very popular in my city for many years. Like one of the main ones for R&B and dance music. I'm sure that DJ kept all the good stuff but I still regret that he didn't call me. He said he almost did!
the guy was a retired radio dj of ten years and his wife was sick of them taking up the garage....i didn't have a car at the time so i called a buddy with a van and he came right over and right when we closed the van doors and left the guy came pulling up....i can't even imagine how upset he was but i did nothing for at least a week but just diggin man
good to see someone who really enjoys what they do ;) that was cool of the dude
Just so you know, Bri, when you are done with your diggs like your friend was done with his diggs, they all go to ME!!!!
Hopefully the guy here enjoyed his records, but to me it looks like a whole bunch of throwaway vinyl...cheaper to unload on a friend than to dispose of elsewhere. If you collect vinyl long enough, you begin to appreciate quality over quantity. Crates of mediocre records no longer hold any appeal.
mjanovec Word. I’ve learned that the difficult way. Stuck with a giant box full of my nan’s 80s ABBA, Kate Bush and George Michael records alongside another giant box of pre-1950s classical orchestra music from a dude in my local area. Overall probably 200+ hours of music in total and most of it is likely to be junk
Ive found like two decent records from the old classical music pile so far which I’m keeping, but apart from that it’s tough luck. Quality > Quantity
I gotta agree. I have been collecting for a long damn time and if you have not fallen prey to the "unloader", you are not a true collector. No disrespect to the poster and it looks like the guy left him a few nugs....I mean, it was free....
ABBA is not junk!
Nor is Kate Bush.
it would have been nice to mention the guy by name.
OH MY DEAR LORD!
Let's see what you got?
i'm jealous man....back in 02' I stopped by a garage sale to look a crate of wax and the lady said "i'll sell all of them for 50 bucks"...now there were only like 10 albums in there and i had about5 of them already... so i asked "50 for these ten albums" and she pulls up this tarp and no exaggeration there were 15 apple boxes with about 100-125 in each....i automatically gave her the 50(thank god i had it) and she said my husband will be back in 15 mins and you have to get them out before then
nice come up.
wow, you cud say im a little jelous right now haha nice one man, ur very lucky!!!
I have found this has happened to alot of djs one way or another congrats.....can't wait till it happens to me...lol
drool, Big Daddy Kane and Queen La! I am so jealous
that's probably a little over 1,800 records based on the number of crates
Gonna sell any? #Dope #Wax
Wow, free vinyl...lucky you.
How about them BEARS!
lol
whoa that is overwhelming!!!
vinyl is very heavy and takes up a lot of room, so shelves are good.
That is sick!
Wow and I was blown away by someone giving me like a 150 78 this week ❤
good for him.
Nice!
やってみたいな。箱買いを.. viva !
wow mate you hit the jackpot! :D
great posts man! love the collection!
christmas came early back in 08
Man! Can you feel my envy? Can you!??
;-)
You're so lucky!
I point to producers like Dilla who flipped the ODDEST records... you know, the ones that most people would consider scraps.
Crate diggin is an art. In practicing your art, you take in as much as you can. You'd be surprised what you might just find.
Where can I find someone to give me a truckload of crates?
Have you a case of 'listener fatigue' yet? I'd be jealous if the majority of that stuff was PRE-80's. Popular music declined drastically in quality after the '80's hit us, IMO. But congratulations on your good fortune!
That's what i call a win...
Deep down in my heart.. I envy you
If this happened to me, I would have cried like a baby. Sweet deal man.
Looks like you've got enough firewood there to keep you warm till 2050!
dude ur blessed cuz man j dilla got me into wanting to start producing hip hop beats but mann i aint got the cash to afford a akai mpc sampler table a technic turntable man u got allllll that free of charge? yo i hope u going thru em all ans makin iLL beats hahah word stay up mannn
Thats about the amount of records I have.

Words can't describe how jealous I am right now.

You should take what you want and pass it on.. Also for the cats that don't know their history too bad because theres a lot more dope ish from back in the days then there is these days.. ps. even diggin' into some funk, pre hip hop ish is good for all you young guppies. d one

Dayum.
Modern rap promo's and chuddy house records from the 2000's......

Depending on how Desperate they really want it.
We only value Vinyl not how cold You are! Lol

You think this is a good score? A couple of weeks ago, a woman in the Bronx gave me two technics sl-1200's with two pro cartridges with needles and three other cartridges and needles along with 5 crates full of premium hip hop and house records.
I have also been given a few 2000-4000 record collections from guys in the Bronx and Newark.
