Another great video. It was so nice to see you again, Linda! Such beautiful stitching! I love the squirrel! So cute! Loved seeing Kat’s stitching from years ago. Cannot wait to see your other framed pieces, Kat. I’m sure they are just as beautiful as all of your other stitching! Love seeing you together. ❤❤
Love these flosstubes with Mum. Hearing about your gifting was interesting, like you mention who you gift to does depend on their thoughts on your hobby 😂
So great to see you again, Linda! I hope you'll be a regular guest. 😄 Your pieces of work are beautiful. "When life gives you lemons" may not be a competition, but... does the person who makes it to the halfway mark first get served G&Ts by the "loser"?! 🍋🍹 There's something very special about making cross-stitches as gifts for loved ones. Choosing a design you think they'll appreciate and has meaning for them, plus the time and care invested in creating it, all tells the recipient how much you care. A very personalised gift. Thanks for another entertaining video, Kat.
I love the suggestion of the 'Lemons' halfway 'winner' serving the 'loser' a drink and mine will be a G&T but Mum is not a fan so will probably take a glass of wine instead 😂 That's why this is working so well because Mum wanted to stitch this piece but doesn't care for G&T...it's perfect! I am really excited to gift my version to my neighbours, and in fact I have just finished a very quick little piece as a gift for my brother's girlfriend to be gifted to her this weekend so i hope she will love it. It's so true that gifting does feel like a special thing to be able to do 😄
Thank you, we did enjoy it, & had a great stitchy weekend. I think we're both perfectionists - "if it's worth doing, it's worth doing well", as my Mother used to say!
So lovely to hear you enjoyed this, thank you 😊 We absolutely did have a great time filming it, and it's a real honour to be able to share our stitching 😄
So enjoyed seeing your Mum again…..LML…lovely Mum Linda!! You both are wonderful together. AND you answered a question I’ve been wondering about & that’s signing & dating your work. I generally do. The squirrel with the border work was amazing & so different. You must keep this up..very enjoyable. Love from Dianne in Dallas
Thanks Dianne 😊 Yes...LML; I love it! I know I'll have more episodes with Mum because she has so much to share and we really enjoy filming together. I'm happy to know our chat about signing pieces was interesting to you. Since I don't sign mine I think I should start popping a little tag on the back of each piece to say what it was and when I stitched it, as I will never remember in future and having the date of a piece is nice to look back on.
Gosh, that's really lovely of you, thank you 😊 I think Mum might have enough on her plate without a TH-cam channel; she's a busy lady! I will keep sharing her on my channel for sure though 😄
How lovely to see your Mum again! I enjoyed seeing some of your early pieces! I am definitely a gifter of cross stitch; to the point that I hadn't kept anything I'd done for myself until last September when I finished a sampler, and got it framed and hung on the wall. 😂 Happy stitching! 😊
So glad you enjoyed the catch up with my Mum 😊 Wow, you have been very lovely and generous with your cross stitch gifting but I am glad you finally got a piece to keep for yourself 😄🩷
Oh yes, I'm sure I got my creative streak from Mum, and she also very much encouraged me when i wanted to try ALL the crafts when I was younger! Cross stitch was the one that really stuck with me 😄
What a lovely video, so enjoyable to watch. Your mums stitching is beautiful. You must make sure to mark your lemon stitches before framing in case you can't tell them apart after framing. I think if my mother had stitched for me I would have liked her to sign it . I've only ever stitched for someone else once! ❤️
Thank you and I'm glad you enjoyed my Mum's lovely stitching. We will definitely have to make sure we don't muddle up our lemons stitching 😂 Maybe I will get her to 'sign' her one for me 👍
Lovely video with you and your mum! Loved seeing her stitching, I was actually heavy into cross stitching cottages back in the early 90's as I lived there for a time. I've also done a few David Winter cottage cross stitch and every now and then find kits in antique stores. Would love to see her Lilliput cottages some day 😊.
Thank you 😊 Well, maybe the cottages will have to be brought for another video, but then there are a LOT of other gorgeous pieces that could be shared!
I love when you get your mom to join you. You are definitely her mini me. You both have similar personalities and you look a lot like her too. Definitely an enjoyable visit! All of the projects were so beautiful 😻
@@lindawhitehead3242 lol 😂 I bet it won’t bother her a bit a Linda 😂. I have a sister named Linda and my nick name was Kat (short for Kathy). I also have a mini me my daughter Summer.
I have to admit I can see some similarities between me and Mum but also a lot of differences! We do have a lovely time together and it's fun to share our chat and stitching 😄
Lovely to be invited as a guest. I had a sister-in-law (sadly deceased) who was a very accomplished crafter & knitted socks - her husband has a lifetime supply!
So glad you enjoyed this episode and that you got some knitting done while watching 😄 I did try a little bit of knitting when i was younger but never socks!
Thank you 😄 I am so excited to share the rest of my FFOs but wanted Mum's pieces to be the star of the show for this one...and to keep you coming back for more of course 😂
Hi mum!! So happy to see you both again :). OMG SQUIRREL! How cute! I love it! What brand is the kit from? Love all the specialty stitches and blackwork your mum has done. Everything looks beautiful. Such a fun video!
Hi Andrew and thank you 😊 There's a link for the squirrel in the description but it's Red Squirrel by Derwentwater Designs. It's even more gorgeous IRL; the way it has the contrast between the background around the outside and the squirrel in the foreground is beautiful. You can probably tell we had soooo much fun filming this...all in one take!
Hi there! So glad you enjoyed our video. I'm delighted Kat was kind enough to let me join in again! Squirrel is looking good in my dining room & artificial light just gives little glints of gold & I'm really happy with it now.
Ooooh Kat, I was aware you were visiting your mum, aka Linda, last weekend and I have checked TH-cam every morning and afternoon since the weekend looking for your video - and it's here at last! I've watched a couple of minutes and stopped the video because I am so excited to see it and don't want the excitement to be over just yet. I am trying to think when will be the ideal time for me to watch you and Linda and can't decide. At the moment I am thinking as long as I know it's here I can keep the excitement going a bit longer until I can't resist. Oh and I am also stitching "lemons" and really enjoying it. Love you both. From Jeannette (more your mum's era but not as beautiful as she is) xxx
Your super sweet comment really made me smile, thank you so much 😊 I have to admit to doing the same thing with things I'm really excited for, like new stash. I'll have been desparate for it to arrive and then when it does I just give it a bit longer to prolong the excitement before I open it! I'm so glad you are enjoying 'lemons' too; it's such a happy stitch 🍋😄
Aaw! You flatter me with your very kind comment😊. Can't believe we cause such excitement & hope the rest of the video didn't disappoint! Great to hear you’re also enjoying "lemons", I've done a little more now!
It’s lovely to see you and your Mum together, what a great video 😄 I’ve been wanting to ask for a while; what kind of camera do you use to film your flosstubes please? I want to start but have no idea where to start 😌
Thank you 😊 I use a Sony ZV-E10 camera to film, which is mounted on a tripod. I use a Shure shotgun microphone attached to the camera and I have 2 large softbox lights. Because I started out with tutorial videos I wanted to make sure I had a really good set up for that and then when I got into flosstubes I just used the same. But this is probably overkill for starting out with flosstubes and I would suggest starting by filming with your phone is good enough to see how you like it. Having some good light, either natural or with artificial lights that are daylight temperature will make a big difference. I hope that helps 😄

Lovely to see your mum and her WIPs, the details on the dollhouse are great!
