      This is the episode where Jimmy McGill fully transformed into Saul Goodman and did his version of Walter White's "I am the Danger" speech from Breaking Bad.

    Peter Schuler, the guy in the robe and leader of Madrigal's fast food division, is the guy who killed himself with the defibrillator in BB Season 5 after Gus's empire blew up. That was the only time we'd seen him prior to this episode.

      Yup. And what a testament to the level of dedication and artistry of this show: basically 8 years later, after playing that one seen/episode, that actor brings back the character's exact same tone of desperation, and the writer's write it perfectly as if the BB scene had been written the day before. This series will never cease to blow my mind. NEVER.

    Lalo was indeed mentioned in Breaking Bad, along with Nacho. When Walt and Jesse took Saul to the desert on the first episode Saul appears, Saul says "it wasn't me it was Ignacio" and "Are you with Lalo?"
    Crazy to think how those two characters came up from that spare dialogue

      I feel like they decided to create the characters once they decided to do a prequel. They wanted to make sure it eventually matched up to Breaking Bad's timeline, so they created the two characters.

    Jimmy going off on Howard at the end was basically him letting out whatever frustration he still had towards him. It was big and volcanic, but for Jimmy it needed to be done. It’s also interesting seeing him having to defend Lalo in court and seeing the contrast between the two regarding the family of Fred Whalen as well as when the bail is set. Also Nacho and Gus burning down Los Pollos Hermanos together was really cool and sad to see, due to that restaurant basically being another character within this universe. Great reaction James, I hope you’re doing well man. Have a great day and take care!

    15:13 i always found it hilarious how proper he is - just naturally. he doesn't even have to try too hard to disguise his illegalities because he's professional and composed in every context; whether alone (like in this scene), or around others. even the way he prepared to vomit (in the bathroom at eladio's house in breaking bad) was so proper. bro even died fixing his tie.

    Santiago refers to Chile. For a very long time, we’ve known Gus is from Chile which is in South America. For whatever reason, there are no records of him. Probably a deep cleaning of his past took place which might have been because he was a part of the Pinochet regime which assassinated many people. Gus seems quite capable. Both as a killer and a mastermind businessman. He probably got those skills as a high ranking member of Pinochet’s killing squads. All of this is speculation but it kinda fits.

    • @IkanaCanyon7

      To further add to this, it probably also ties in to why Eladio told Gus the only reason he kept him alive and killed Max was because unlike with the latter, Eladio KNEW who Gus was. A drug kingpin like Eladio probably had the connections and resources to find info on Gus from Chile that many others wouldnt.

    "The decision of lingering on a certain frame is very interesting. I love when they do that..." Yup. And also everything you mentioned after that comment pertaining to that. Banks (the actor who plays Ehrmantraut) speaks to that exact thing in one of the commentary bonus features. And he says it was one of the things he loved most about how the creators went about putting this together. For me, it's two things: 1) It shows the creators' respect of their audience. They don't dumb down to us. Ever. They know we can stay in there, are paying close attention to details, and they know we trust them as well. 2) The writers/directors/editors trust & respect their actors and know they're gonna often bring more to scene than what's on the page; and they look for it. And when they find it, they're smart enough to leave it in. God bless this series...

  • @ForcesInMotion
    @ForcesInMotion 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    The scene where Gus & Nacho go into Pollos Hermanos to burn it down... If I had one wish from a genie's bottle, it would be that I was in the writer's room when they were creating that scene. I don't know if they'd've taken the suggestion, but in the middle of the scene, while Nacho is trashing everything, I would've had Gus give him one of his looks, and Nacho would say to him, "Gotta make it look real." A callback to what Tyrus said to Nacho after shooting him about a season earlier. I really think that woulda been great. Kinda hilarious and in line with Nacho's character...

    Also guess what? I saw the Lord of the Rings trilogy (extended edition) in the cinema just now. It was amazing. Reminded me why I love movies so much. I think they were the best cinema experience since seeing Return of The King back in 2004 (it was the first movie I saw on the big screen). But the thing that moved me the most was the fact that the crowd applauded at the end of the third movie. Usually my country isn't fond of applauding in the movie theater, but like we had a whole applause, and I thought to myself ''maaaan, to create art that makes people across the world cry and appalud, decades later....''

    I think Jimmy's expression during the wedding was that of guilt. As much of a manipulator as he is, he feels bad for the bad things he does to people he cares about. Kim being the one true person be loves, but knows he's bad for, it breaks him silently in that moment. He knows he's going to keep hurting her. Imo.
