  • Unfortunately I didn’t have enough time to come up with something a little bit more creative, so this will have to do for a five year anniversary special of my channel!
Back when Nick, Colby and I filmed the LR and WX rear loaders from Bay Cities, in between shots we saw how some of these seaside homes got serviced with the shoulder cans. Needless to say these guys have a little bit more manual labor on their plate than some other crews, and these guys should be commended for it! Nick was the most interested in this style of collection so as you can see I let him get the upfront shots. So in a way this is a behind the scenes video of his video. Which is highly recommend watching it:

A huge thank you to the crew for letting the three of us document their unique route!

Awesome video Stevie. I absolutely love that crew and the fact they still use the pack can. Congrats on 5 years

What an interesting method of solid waste collection. Manual collection never gets old! Also, cool Mack LR Heil Formula 40/60.

This is how the County of Sacramento collected trash in the late 60s and into the 70s, a 4-man crew on 1 rear loader. I’ve seen some archived photos of the trucks and it looks like they used to have some Garwood rear loaders

Definitely a physical demanding way of collection l. Would’ve been cool to see the county run those RLs back then!

Great shots. Still wish I'd had the chance to film in Sausalito myself but, oh well... maybe on my next trip down to Cali. Sure is a throwback seeing this type of collection these days, almost feels like one of those 90's DSNY documentaries haha. Congrats on 5 years - hopefully we'll continue to see uploads moving forward!

It’s definitely an interesting way of doing things. It might save a little bit of time then having a bunch of carts lined up. Thanks Spencer!

Manual collection in the 21st century... almost hard to believe it's still running strong.
