First day of school... Nice! You want tips? I'll tell you a couple things I learned. If possible, sit in the front of every class. For me, it's always been about vision. Even in the front sometimes I struggled to see the chalkboard or screen. But over the years I found that being up front makes it easier to listen, to hear, to commit to learning. No distractions between the instructor and you, plus the sound of their voice has less distance to travel so you can hear better. The other equally important thing I learned is to know your limits. Don't stretch yourself too thin and be sure to get rest. It's hard to learn or concentrate when you're struggling just to keep your eyes open. You have a lot going for you so I would add prioritize everything and be ok with giving up a night out or whatever when sleep is imperative. I'm so glad things are going great for you so far! 🤗🤗🤗
As per usual your comment is so helpful and kind! I like sitting around the fourth row, so I'm not too close but still able to really engage. Stretching myself to thin is my biggest weakness... this is a good reminder! ☺
I have just moved to Wellington too! I’m working full time, not studying, but I totally get what you mean- everyone at my workplace is in their little friend groups and it is such an isolating feeling! I need to channel some of your confidence 🙌🏽
This is so exciting! When I started undergrad I was so nervous to make friends but I would suggest (when/if you're able) connecting to a local church and their ministries because there are always some awesome people there around your age to do life and adventure with!
Thank you so much for this video!!!! I started at the same time but I'm overseas and never got to experience these things and I'm grateful for this video!!!!! Can't wait to be there in person.
So good Emily ! I'm pursuing a bachelor's of design innovation in the same Uni , probably will be coming during 2024. Looking forward to seeing you. Thanks for the info 😄
heeey Emily...!am 27 and i applied to Vic Uni if they admit me I will start my degree at 28..nothing wrong with starting older sis😊😊,GET YOUR EDUCATION!✊
22 is still really young to be studying still lovely, I want to go back to study and I'm 26 so probably wont be in there till you're all done lmfao! Keep on keeping on, and when you find your friends I'm sure they'll love you!
@@EmilyClaireDaly how awesome!! That gives me so much more hope! I'm about 20 minutes away from CBD, so if I'm in the city next I'd totally meet up for coffee! Have you met up with anyone from the comm section yet?
@@mariageoghegan4216 Yeah, every hall has its stereotypes. Te Puni is a popular hall because it's so new and close to uni. There's a mixed bag of people in the hall, lots of party people on the lower floors. Students who aren't in competitive degrees and like to have fun A LOT. But theres also a good bunch of more relaxed students who work hard and party hard. I would only say don't go to Te Puni if you are after a very low-key, diligent, quiet environment. Te Puni is great for your social life, you have to be diligent and hard working to get the best of both words there. Not impossible! I all my friends and I managed, along with plenty others.
@@ameliagade7193 I was in a LLB & BA. I didn't like the culture of the law school and it wasn't my home town (I had moved to Wellington from Christchurch). I knew law school at UC was different so I chose to go home and continue my degree at UC. It wasn't just the law school though, the experience I had of the city wasn't what I wanted. I found it to alternative and the culture around drugs I didn't gel with. This was probably quite polarised because of the hall I was in though and I'm sure you could have a Wellington experience without that dynamic. Unfortunately I did though. You may really love Vic though! don't let anyones opinion put you off completely, I'd just try and speak to as many people who've been there as possible to try and decide if its a good fit for you.
Hi Emily... I will be in month of November in Victoria... Can you share some really affordable apartments near to University... Preferably 1 bhk.. Price range 250 to 350 NZD per week
I also want to apply to victoria university but doubtful in which campus to apply? Which city is affordable and safe for students according to you??please replyy
The campus you go to will depend on what you are studying. I loved studying in Wellington! Although, somewhere like Christchurch, Hamilton or Palmerston North is more affordable :)
Hahahha I did wonder what level 2 would do to your videos, you'll glide back into study. and your advice about picking something you enjoy should be common sense but lots of people don't think about that. IMO those nerves are much too premature you'll meet loads of people eh. Enjoy the happy first year haze! You certainly seem prepared
The must gifted woman, everything about u are gifted from the lord God, Jeremiah 29;11) I wishe u the best of life. God bless u, watching ur video from Nigeria my humble regards to everyone
