Watched this video after watching your remove cd drive from old. computer. I will remove the external drive from my old computer. Thanks for this video also.
Thank you for the video . I just removed the hard drive following your instructions. I had a laptop and the screen failed i had thousands of pics and even old taxes but I had no idea this could be done. I just ordered the case from Amazon and I can't wait to access the files. Thank you my friend.
I didn't know that you had computer tech skills Mr. Uber HInts. I used to repair laptops at my old job in California in the late 90's. But they are a lot harder to work on now a days, the parts are smaller, more complex, etc.
@@AverageMe I have 500gb hard drive there is little file less than50gb so if I buy the case (the enclosure) will I be able to download movies on the hard drive then use on my iPhone via iPhone charger?
Once you format that HD, how did you get those files back? I like to erase only windows OS from old hard drive but want to keep other stuff. How can I do that?
As an "Average" guy, I can only tell you the workaround I'd use. I would transfer the other stuff to another drive, then format the drive and bring the stuff back into the clean drive. Beyond that, you might want to go to a computer chatroom.
@@AverageMe Thanks. I have different issue. My current laptop is dying and I have Office suite 2010 installed in it. And lots of important data created and saved in this HD. I bought that office suite and still have original cd with product key O installed ms office from that cs to another laptop. Then I plug in USB drive in which I backed up from old laptop. Most of data I cannot see in new laptop. My Excel and word documents missing from USB drive. When I plug same USB in old laptop I can see everything. Don't know how to fix this.
I made a link to where you can get the SATA case in the description area.

Helpful, but it depends on what hdd you're trying to reuse.. Sometimes the enclosure case may cost more than a new same memory hdd

Many thanks, this video was a great help!!
You do not need an enclosure. Just an adapter that plugs right in to the hard drive and they work on several sizes.
Hard Drives have awesome magnets inside.
Oh but microwave ovens! THAT'S a place for magnets!
Awesome and very informative video Mark! That was nice of you to give us two uploads in one day!😸

I have NO skills! That’s how easy this is.
Being a tech repair guy. You did very good demo. You have more faucets
rbx 177 - that’s high praise indeed ! I am NOT a tech guy, so it’s gotta be dirt simple if I can do it.

Open it up and see what the hard drive connector looks like. That's the only way you can tell.
Great tip and clear instructions. x
Thanks Guys!
Thank you! What a great idea!
amazing, keep the good work!
Do you know what USB case goes good with a compaq presario cq56 hard drive or will the data work?
While I'm notan expert, just an average guy, I THINK that the hard drives are pretty standard and the basic case should work.

I know I'm a little late but either pronunciation of SATA is fine
Q you took the drive from a laptop and that in turn would of been a C drive but on your PC its now a E drive ?
Can you explain....when you went to format it said you were going to erase you files, but yet you were able to pull them up, how?
No, I transferred the files from my computer onto the “new “ drive. Once formatted, the drives was cleaned out.
Awesome hack
Thanks James! I like tinkering with things like that ... especially when it works!
"about the size of a pack of playing cards".. Nobody under 40 will get that reference. Great video though thanks
Don't you think people play cards any more? Well, they still go to casinos, so there's still hope.still go to casinos, so there's still hope.
