    - Just a heads up, this video was created about a week before Parque Reunidos announced that they were going to be acquiring Adventureland. If you’re wondering what I think about the decision, it’s a mixed batch.
    - i’ll have a little 10k subscribers video up in hopefully a week or so. it’s not possible to begin working on it while i’m in Hawaii right now but it’ll happen soon.
    - also, i haven’t been to holiday world; please stop asking lol
    thank you everyone for your continued support 🙏🏻

      I was about to say why didn’t you put Holiday World on here, but then I read your comment and that explains it.
      I’m glad you are using your experience first and not assuming by what you expect it to be by online videos.

    I live about an hour from Holiday World, and would put that at the top of any list of independent parks. Add that it is possibly the oldest theme park in the United States, and the stellar lineup of coasters, and it is a winner all around. The free sunscreen and drinks just makes it better.

      @Anonymous person kennywood is far from Knoebles and Hersheypark. It’s not easy to claim that since he has been to the first two he would also be near to Kennywood. But yes I am guessing he has only been to these ten.

      Yeah how does that not make the list but a park with only 2 rides that I thought had gone out of business 10 years ago makes it as #4?

  • @alantrotter2077
    @alantrotter2077 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    For me I would rank them this way:
    1. Holiday World - Great top 4. They really run this park well.
    2. Hershey Park- Very good deep coaster line-up. Best of the Indy Parks. Really close between this and #1.
    3. Knoebels- Really good park. Talk about value. A must do while in PA.
    4. Silverwood- I tend to agree with you. The coaster collection is slightly better than Lagoon. Tremors ran great this year and Stunt Pilot pushed them ahead of Lagoon for me.
    5. Lagoon- Cannibal is really great. Great setting! Lay-out is a bit strange but a must visit park.
    6. Indiana Beach- I know Gene Staples owns a few parks but it is hardly a corporation at this point. Solid line-up and will only get better in 2022.
    7. Waldameer- I liked this park. Ravine Flyer II is a great woodie.
    I haven't been to Adventureland but I'm guessing it should be slotted ahead of Waldameer and behind Indiana Beach.
    I've only been to Santa Cruz out of the three boardwalk parks. It was good but I would imagine the other 2 just have more to them.

    My home park in BPB is an independent, we may not get rides all that often but when we do they’re generally interesting if only to try and fit them in with the limited space.

I wasn't sure whether to consider Luna Park independent since I thought Zamperla operated the Park at Owa...but apparently they don't? Thanks for your video. I live outside of Philadelphia and have visited all the parks here in PA. I am glad to see you rated Kenobels so high. I found out about it when I had to take some training for my job in Williamsport Pa. I was not expecting much but was surprised how nice a park it was and really liked their relatively low prices including free admission and parking compared to what other parks charge. Over the years they have continued to expand their ride selections but also keep up their old rides and have only closed a few of their older rides. I also like their buying old rides from other parks and rebuilding them at their park. I also agree Hershey Park is a nice park with a great roller coaster selection but unlike Kenobles their price to park and enter the park is much higher so unless you plan to ride a lot especially the coasters, Kenobles is the better buy. I was glad to see some of the other family parks especially ones out in the western part of the USA I most likely will never get to attend.

    I already left a comment on another video but I was born in Wildwood, but grew up near Hershey Park. But still fave family in Wildwood so we go every year at least once. I absolutely love the boardwalk as if is now, but when I was growing up their was so many more unique things. They had 2 haunted houses that were just so beyond incredible.

  • @Gelunix
    @Gelunix 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    As a NJ resident I cannot recommend Wildwood/Morey's enough. The boardwalk itself is really nice (although not as good as it used to be) and at night is absolutely stunning with the lights and everything. Getting a view of the boardwalk from a few stories up is mesmerizing as well.

  • @alexbrown2696
    @alexbrown2696 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Even though I don't rides coasters as much as I used to, Morey's Piers is still my home park and the Morey family takes good care of the park. Gotta appreciate them taking the effort to have the best SLC and Boomerang in existence. My biggest complaint is that they jacked up the prices once Covid happened and now a ride on their largest coasters now cost $13.50 per person compared to $8.80 a few years back. Their operations are also very slow but I usually don't care about it because oftentimes they're waiting for people to get on the rides as crowds are usually low when it's not a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday night.

  • @MattMcIrvin
    @MattMcIrvin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hersheypark is so big and slick it almost feels like it shouldn't count--it's the level of operation you expect from a major Cedar Fair or perhaps SeaWorld/Busch Gardens property. One of the best coaster parks in America.
    The Parques Reunidos parks in the US still have the feel of small independent parks, though technically they're not.
    My home park is an independent--Canobie Lake Park. The coaster collection is small but nice--at this point, basically one well-kept 1930s woodie, an ingeniously themed small Eurofighter and a kiddie coaster. Lots of good flats, a superb collection of kiddie and family rides (though it does lack a mid-tier family coaster), and the atmosphere is welcoming and charming. I think the thing that makes Canobie stand out among amusement parks is actually its collection of game arcades, including the best publicly accessible pinball parlor in New England (since my previous favorite shut down, at least).

    I know they own three parks but considering two are like 15 minutes away from each other with placement that is meant to be the alternative to big parks in "the area" but also technically two separate ones, got to shout out to Fun Spot Orlando and Fun Spot Kissimee. 8 1/2 years great GCI running as if brand new, go-karts are great and don't cost extra, SkyCoaster's $10 and huge, Gator spot, additional classic and new rides and coasters (Mine Blower is intense but not rough like Qwazi was but has an inversion).
    Fun Spot Atlanta kinda makes it like a chain but idk, the term wasn't used until it was acquired. They've done a lot to add even though the middle still needs much work, but the RMC coaster "ArieForceOne" is going to be great for it.

    I'd argue that eastern PA is the best place to live for theme park aficienados. You're just hours away from both the Top 2 on this list, as well as major chains Cedar Point (Dorney Park) and Six Flags (Great Adventure), not to mention all the Jersey shore beaches and NYC's Coney Island (and American Dreams to boot) ... and if you want to go just a bit further, you're a day's trip by car away from Kennywood, all the Ohio parks, Busch Gardens, King's Dominion, and so much more.
    (The only problem, of course, is *paying* to go to all these places ... which is probably why I rate Knoebels highest on a list like this. I can take the whole family for a full day's worth of entertainment and not feel like I spent the college fund for the privilege.)

      It sort of is owned by a big company, just not a big theme-park company--Hershey Entertainment & Resorts owns a number of hotel and other properties around the area, and it *used to* own Lake Compounce and Dutch Wonderland. And while it's technically separate from the Hershey's chocolate company, there's some common ownership and obviously a lot of coordination between the two. Kennywood isn’t a family owned park but if it were, it would be ranked far underneath Knoebels. Holiday World I simply haven’t been to

      @@CoasterDash I thought you said family owned & small companies. I don't get everyone's fascination with Knoebels. It was okay & I did love the food prices and the fact you can bring your dog but they basically have 3 coasters because Flying Turns is never open & only one of them, Phoenix, is great. You aren't the only one but I don't see how anyone prefers Knoebels over Kennywood.

    Wow they way he trashed uncle bernies amusement park is not good . Uncle Bernie's amusement parks does not match up to the other amusement parks featured in this video but it is the only amusement park that's outfielder has and it doesn't have many wives but for us South Floridians is all what we have so this ain't the first person to trash Uncle bunnies amusement park I mean you have to give me credit for where it is the only amusement park in South Florida it just doesn't have the 30 Verizon the Thrilla Jackson's as the other family-owned amusement parks but it is an amusement park for a South Floridians
