    Absolutely love the way you went over some of those chipped areas with thinned down camo paint. The effect it creates is awesome, and could be used as a part of the distressing method.

      Night Shift Thanks Martin, yes I use this technique a lot when distressing the paint surfaces, I suppose it’s similar to mapping.👊🏻

    What method do you guy's prefer for chipping your models? I personally use several and it depends on the modelling situation.

      I like the hairspray technique. But I'll layer that with some color "mapping" and hand painted chips with a fine brush. Love the textures!

      @@BrailleScale Yes I do the same and will add those effects as I progress. This is just the first step.

      Hairspray, salt, masking fluid, fine brush, you name it. Like you, all depends on the effect I'm after or if trying a new technique.

      @@SmallSoldier 😂😂😂 I read "AKA" in the classic Night Shift voice! That would be epic. I too would love to see more collabs in the future!! Maybe if I really get my new bench and TH-cam channel up and running I can be honored to partake in a Small Soldier collab some day??? 😁

      @@SmallSoldier yeah I started off with some basic content on here but I need to get better at the video editing and graphics aspect. Maybe even figure out how to add music without freaking out TH-cam copyright algorithms... Haha like everything else- work in progress!

    I use a combination of hairspray and sponges. Also a little drybrushing creeps in too.
    Nice vid, and amazing finish on that - might have to give that chipping fluid a go. Thanks for sharing this also.

    • @SmallSoldier
      @SmallSoldier  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. Yes dry brushing can have it's place even though it's an old technique. Cheers

    in an unrelated subject do you use oils for your figures,and if you do do use paint thinner for the oils?

    • @SmallSoldier
      @SmallSoldier  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not unrelated at all. I have a couple videos on my channel that deal with painting figures in oils. Check them out and they should answer most of your question. If not feel free to ask me. Yes I do use thinner with my oils.

  • @vernebeck8108
    @vernebeck8108 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do you use Johnson&Johnson floor wax, and if no why not?

    • @SmallSoldier
      @SmallSoldier  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes from time to time I do. I still have an original bottle before they changed the label.
      My go to now is Alclad acrylic gloss

    What's transpertnator?

    • @SmallSoldier
      @SmallSoldier  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      A fancy word Mig invented. Basically a glaze medium for making the paint more transparent.

    ... i hate 3 tone camo chipping... it such a pain in the ass to planning and rush to finish chipping before the fluid become un-usable anymore

    • @SmallSoldier
      @SmallSoldier  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Really. I can still go back in a week later and get them to work. I have to be a little more aggressive but it's possible.
