      Hey nice bike. I live in the USA. I have a 2 year older model. A 2018 Honda CB500F. Its my first beginner bike. I'm 6' 3 ( 1.9 meters) and 200lbs (90.71847kg).And just got done taking my MSF course. Still practicing in parking lots, and at night open roads. Its got enough torque to shit myself. So glad I didn't get a sport bike. Its just comfortable and enjoyable. Great gas mileage too!

    I've had mine 6.months now and I have to say it is super comfortable in commuting to work, cruising around the city, easy to handle, gives the feeling of a big bike, you can pass through traffic jams no problems, super economic, nice looking and good price for its value and brand..

    Love this bike, personally having a lot of fun on mine! Despite the obvious top end limitations I’ve still found myself getting the most out of it and overtaking cars, joining Dual Carriageways etc. Gonna serve as an adequate stepping stone for doing my A2 license. Looking into progressing onto either a restricted Yammy Xj6 Diversion or a factory Honda CB500f. One day I’ll get my hands on an R1 or something like that! Great review, nice to hear other rider’s thoughts. Stay safe out there, cheers!

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice! Sounds like you are really sorted out with that bike and know all its strengths. Ridden well, as you say, the bike is capable of feats people think only a bigger bike can get away with. Takes planning and experience though.
      I learned on the XJ6 Diversion - a common bike to learn on around the UK.
      I went straight for a CBR600F after passing the DAS. I liked that bike. So well made, typical Honda. I should have stayed with it. Instead I got seduced FAR too early in my biking career by a Panigale and almost killed myself and did kill the bike :)
      CB500F is a perfect bike. Again, so well made and loads of fun.

    Rode this bike for my CBT. It's the only bike I've ever ridden, so I'm not sure how much my opinion really matters, but the experience was thoroughly enjoyable. It feels fairly punchy. Didn't have any issues pulling off. Even beat a few cars. Also feels quite stable in the turns. I'm 6ft tall, and found the upright riding position very comfortable. The brakes seemed to be pretty damn good too.
    I'm probably going to get this, or the CBF125 if I can't wait any longer lol

    • @RevMonkey

      Short answer, yes. Just better made, more service points and good residual when you come to sell it as you may not have it long.
      However, really, any learner bike is good for the job. That Sinnis looks great! Less easy to ride. I'd learn on the Honda and then save up for a really nice, or new, Sinnis.

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends more on your inside leg really in terms of overall safety. Anything below 28" can cause problems BUT, like many women who are shorter, you just have to adjust your body differently when coming to a stop to get your foot down solidly,. This comes with a bit of practice.
      It is the same technique that I have to apply when riding an Adventure Tourer which are really tall bikes. Going along is fine but I have to take care when slowing and stopping - and I am 5' 10" with a 30" inside leg.
      These little Hondas are not too bad but you just have to give it a try and see what you think. They are light so it doesn't take much strength to keep the bike up.

      Hi Patrick - good choice and with nobody on trains and everyone in cars the roads are buggered and a bike makes huge sense. Bike sales are really strong at present.
      It can get to 65 - 70 depending on conditions. This makes it brilliant on B roads and some A roads. A motorway is a bit of a struggle to be honest.
      Ha, saying that. When I had my 125 I used to get behind a truck and let him tow me along. Saves loads of petrol as well. 😊

    I'm thinking of buying this bike as an upgrade from my 50cc moped. Just wanted to ask if it would be alright going on typical British roads where it's fairly bumpy / uneven in places? I live out in the countryside so these roads take up most of my journey around.

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it will perform as well as any other bike. just keep an eye out for the worst holes. The standard suspension is good enough to withstand a lot. You'd soon get used to the knocks the bike will get, it is very well balanced. Probably be quite fun!
      You don't really need a trial/scrambler bike so long as you don't go too fast.

    Wanna get to bike for commuting etc. But is it suitable for a bit longer trips to nature etc ? Let's say 200 300 km long trips once in a while ? Reliability is a huge aspect for me so this bike seeks really quality all in all

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The reliability aspect is fine. All of these bikes, even several years old, if serviced annually, will be fine for long journeys.
      The real problem is smoothness, comfort and power. The bike can get you 300KM but the buzzy nature of a small engine will make that tough, the bike itself will be a constant buzz at 100kmh plus and the power will not make it easy to make swift progress.
      This is the same for all bikes in the 125 area.
      Bigger bikes make that a lot easier. 300 will be better and obviously, as you get up to, 1400cc it becomes a lovely place to be for long journey.
      So, yes, it can be done but you might need a couple of breaks to avoid tiredness.

      Well, yes. With a pillion you should always take it easier, smoother and make sure they lean with you.
      In fact, it might be a good way to practice smoothness of take away, gear changes and braking actually as you soon get pissed off with their helmet hitting your head! :)

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your dad is right to a certain extent. Indeed, I have two of the fastest motorcycles ever and my worse accident that should have killed me was on a 125 scooter!! I kid you not.
      That's great if you can learn your craft on a 125 and feel no need to do what I did and get a 600 after 1 week. I did it the wrong way. you sound farm ore sensible than me and hopefully you wont crash at all. My ego is far greater than my ability.
      The only thing I am good at is road awareness from 20+ years of driving. Keep an eye out for anything that could become danger.
      Mileage... get 125 services, oil kept on top of, check brake fluids, etc, you will never do enough mileage in this country to break the bike. I woldnt worry about it but always get the newest, best bike you can get for your money anyway, geenrally speaking, as it will have more safety tach.

      However, I jumped up into big boy bikes well before I should have. Only now am I a capable rider after 5 years of riding. I am still not sensible and it might be the death of me.
      Get on a 125 with gears and see what you think. Get the test done and then follow these steps:
      1. Practice with a bike no more than 600cc for at least 2 years
      2. Do an advanced riding course where you will learn a lot more about safe road riding and technique
      3. Do one or two track days - you will learn more about turning, throttle, braking and feel in those 2 days than 2 years on the road.

      I know the feeling. I had 3 crashes last year! :)
      Every journey is a learning experience.
      I will never go out in the rain. If it rains whilst out I will take it super easy BUT remain loose. Tension is bad.
      Gravel is tough - that is bad luck but depending on where you are riding, always look out for potential harm - holes, gravel, drainhole covers, diesel, etc.
      At least you got back on. Build your confidence up again and then start progressing up if you really feel the need. There is no better fun than a 125!
