    They are trying to close the openings because they don't want them ,my bees in my horizontal hives did the same,so they know how much airfow they want.

      Mine did too. They closed up almost all of them.

    Put one fram with queen cell and some brood in a nuc,with some eggs and bees ,and leave the main hive with the other queen cells and watch the outcome, if main hive doesn't produce a queen then put the nuc back in main hive later.

    I installed nuc mid May in my long hive. They would not accept sugar water. I am in NWA although they have slowed down some I still see pollen coming in, and figure all others are bringing in nectar from somewhere. Last time I checked they were doing well with around 15 frames or so, lost exact count. Dealing with some hive beetles with oil trays and a couple blasters. Nothing serious just wanting to keep to minimum. Thanks for your videos in your long hive.

    All good on both of ours. We might need to add a little more ventilation but they’re not piling up on the front too much

    Looks like the foundations were not waxed very good from the suppliers. Do you add more wax to the foundations when you get them? Just curious.

    • @CentralBeekeepersSupply
      @CentralBeekeepersSupply  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't add extra wax, but I do store and reuse a lot of frames that have been partially drawn. It seems those are the ones they don't like finishing.

    those queen cells look more like emergency cells not swarm cells I think they know your queen is getting old and the mean to replace her, I don't think they are planning on swarming, they have plenty of room, swarm cells are generally bigger and on the bottom of the frame in my experience, ive never had a swarm go from an emergency cell. Super seeding is what's going on I think

    • @RandomEveryday_Vids
      @RandomEveryday_Vids 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Can I ask why you squash the super seed cells? they may know their queen is weak and old and need to replace her?

    I love your updates but I'll never see you mark your queens is there a reason for that?

    • @CentralBeekeepersSupply
      @CentralBeekeepersSupply  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I have marked queens in the past but it seems the risk is higher than the reward . Sometimes the bees kill them after the paint goes on, due to change in appearance and smell.

  • @tealkerberus748
    @tealkerberus748 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Everyone I've seen who has put screened ventilation holes in the covers of their hives has had the bees fill up these holes with propolis. I reckon if you wanted a whole lot of propolis for something you could probably work with this, but as far as ventilation goes, bees would rather do that for themselves than have holes in the ceiling.

    Like you’ve said before, they work it out. Whatever needs deciding, they decide and make it so. I know they have reasons for air flow that they want. Fascinating to watch happen.
