  • Attempt to repair the notorious 125M shift stopper - Part 1
    This repair requires work inside the case which I would not recommend unless you are willing to part with whatever part you intend to improve because you could very well may destroy it.
    That said, it was worth the risk to recover this bike for what we paid for it.

    So glad I stumbled onto your video by accident. I picked up a crusty 125M for $50 that wouldn't shift, took off the clutch cover and found that my boss was missing too! I can see the scar where it is supposed to be so I off to buy some 3/8 alum. barstock, tap and tig, grind back for spring clearance, check for primary gear bolthead clearance and button 'er back up. Can't thank you enough, sub for real-

      That’s great Bud! These bikes can be fixed but it takes some ingenuity. I don’t know about the best video on TH-cam but I was hoping that folks like you would find this helpful. Glad you found it!

    Hi Anthony I have the same issue Great vid and good job doing it in situ. The Boss is 1/2 inch long and threaded, is this correct . Do you recall the diameter

      Hey Sumpjunkie - I believe it was 3/8” but may vary by motor. I just matched the diameter of the spot where the boss broke away from the case. If a different model I wouldn’t want to steer you wrong.
      The key is that the spring needs to fit around it with some tolerance and the screw has to go through it preferably into the face of the case if you still have threads remaining. If so, you are in a great position to secure your new stock piece, (bored and threaded to the same pitch as the case) to the case.

    Hey, have a question for you I was just watching your video I’m having a different issue I just picked up a 1985, 125M runs really good but for some reason it is stuck in gear and I cannot get back to neutral to use the electric store or see the neutral light indicator. Other than that, it starts up on one pull. Any ideas what it could be?
    Thx!

    Is this what mines not shifting for

    • @hifidelite
      @hifidelite  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes sir this is likely the reason that your bike is not shifting. The 125m and smaller bikes have this issue with their shift stopper. The boss isn’t always broken and when it’s not it’s an easy fix to replace the shift stopper. It takes a little time but nothing too crazy.
